Q: Got pump ready and will not pump water. Have tried all things suggested to prime but will not pump water
all i can think of is it may not want to lift water real high if the intake is way lower than the pump, and be sure the hose is secure and its not sucking air .. if the thing has a plug on top remove it and fill it with water first ..
Q: okay i observed and found out my water pump is leaking from a hole in it. after doing research i am told this is where it usually is suppose to leak from. anyway i read instructions for my car(92 fwd celica) and they say people have to remove the fan or something. my pump is under my alternator so i dk what fan they speak of. the only fan i see is by my radiator. all i see is remove the alternator(did it before) and remove the pump. is this correct. help.
most cars have a fan. if your does not. then proceed.
Q: My truck has been over heating, and I cant figure out whats going on...the only thing that gets really hot is the upper radiator hose, and the radiator....I just noticed there was a plug unhooked from the water pump, what does that do? Or maybe it could be the thermostat? It just overheats, and when I park it, it wont start half the time, usually I can let it cool off and go, but sometimes it just dies and I have to let it cool off and jump it off.
I doubt its your water pump. That plug may have been just the temperature sensor. Definitely sounds like a bad thermostat. Replace it. They aren't expensive at all. Letting your truck over heat does serious irreversible damage to the engine. You may have significantly shortened the life of your engine already. Just replace the thermostat when the truck is COLD, never when its hot. If it still overheats with the replacement thermostat, your radiator may be clogged.
Q: Water pump
get a chevy better car FORD found on road dead . ha ha ha haha!
Q: After I replaced the water pump impeller in my outboard I fired up the motor and now its not pumping any water through the pee-hole at all and also the prop is spinning in the neutral position (motor seems as if it is in gear and trying to move). Would this be because of the shift rod or the drive shaft not being in the proper position and possibly the impeller is being span the wrong in the impeller housing cup?
First the impeller -- did you find all of the old one, or are a couple of vanes missing? When you disassemble to put on a new impeller, you must account for all of the old one -- pieces like to be pushed by water into the cooling passages. I like a thin stiff springy wire to run through the pee-hole and up into toe water pickup tube. If you can blow air through the tubes, they aren't blocked. Did you put the impeller on upside down? It only works one way -- as it spins, the outer ends of the vanes should follow the vane, not lead it. When you reassemble, you must get the gear set aligned properly -- When it's assembled properly, the prop will be locked in forward and reverse but will freewheel in neutral. You must turn the blade so the flat of the clutch dog faces up, with the shifter in neutral, as you assemble it. Try it a couple times, you'll figure it out.
Q: Hello online mechanics! You guys have saved me a lot of money on my car, so now I have a new question! I have a 97 Ford Contour and lately since it's been cool in NJ, I've been hearing a tapping coming from the timing belt cover, but when the car warms up, there's no sound. I took the car to my mechanic and he says that I need to have the timing belt replaced, the pulleys adjusted, and the water pump changed. The price for doing the timing belt was $400 (including adjusting the pulleys) and $700 for the timing and the water pump. My question is ; do I need to do the water pump? He says that if you do the timing belt, that you should do the water pump too, but should I if there's nothing wrong with it ( as far as I know) and I'm not looking for the added expense? I thought if it ain't broke don't fix it still applies to things, or am I mistaken? Thanks guys gals! In these tough economic times, I'm not looking to spend any more than is necessary!
ask some of your friends if they have a mechanic that they trust . Take the car to them and see if you get the same answer ?

Q: I am about to replace the timing belt in a 3.4L Toyota V6 at approximately 85,000 miles. The motor has had the Toyota red coolant, which lubricates a water pump very well. Should I, Or should I not replace a Toyota Water Pump also, at this mileage (85,000)? Could the original water pump last until 170,000? Thank you
if it works dont fix it .ok .best leave it .
Q: Whats the difference between a faulty water pump and head gasket? The coolant reservoir has a quot;bubblingeffect when the car is running. I just changed the radiator and filled it. Most of whats in the radiator is water honestly. The car sounds a little rough and sputtery like a head gasket. The spark plugs are dry and I took the cover off and nothing looked watery or moisturous. I also had to change the head and head gasket a month ago. The head gasket didn't have any damage to it so I assumed the head was bad. I used a new head gasket also. Anything else I can check? The car is a 91 corolla.
properly in case you place the water pump in 3 weeks in the past and you probably did no longer have a leak until final nighttime i would not suspect the pump.i'd take it to a radiator save and characteristic them tension try your gadget to be sure in case you have a leak and probably inform you the place that's.I in basic terms have been given completed the pinnacle gasket situation on our ninety 3 ranger with the 4.0 engine and the two heads have been leaking anti-freeze.good success to you.
