- Q: I recently changed the lower unit, and am having no water out the top 2 ports just below the powerhead, also the engine is getting heated up. any other pumps other than in the lower unit?any advice is appreciated.
- you installed a new lower? If you haven't replaced the water pump impeller, do so now. If you did, maybe you forgot the woodruff key, or the pump housing gasket, or the water tube guide grommet. or maybe the water tube guide slipped out of place on reassembly.

- Q: I've got a 1997 Ford Probe, taken it to a couple different places; whenever I drive my vehicle, it tends to want to overheat. I don't drive it to the point where it does though, I know that could cause more damage! I've noticed that when I go out to my car in the morning, there's some coolant on the ground by the front passenger's tire. Before I drive it I fill it with coolant, as to try to keep it from overheating while driving.I've been told that it's the water pump leaking from 2 people but then the last person said there's no leakage. I'm wondering if it might be something else? Maybe a thermostat, a hose, maybe? How would I figure this out???
- If it is your water pump, just keep driving the car and you will soon know. The pump will lock up, you get towed in, then get to have the pump repaired. By what you said, my guess is the water pump needs replaced.

- sable wasn't a real bad car for the most part. Personally I am not a ford man but if the vehicle has buckets of rust and lots of miles then yes this water pump is the sign of what's to come. Breakdowns that is.

I stupidly used bubble bath 2 days before and have since read that it is not good, but just because of the amount of bubbles, not that it will actually harm the system. - Your pump either has a jammed impeller or the coupling is broken. These pumps are lubricated by the water flowing through and when you are pumping bubbles, you're not pumping water. Hopefully the tub was installed so there is reasonably easy access to the pump cavity.

- White smoke is an indication of coolant getting into the engine. It could be a cracked head or blown head gasket. Black smoke can be worn rings or worn valves. A bad water pump could leak or make noises, the temperature is high or coolant bubbling out of the radiator.
- Q: when i drove my truck after about 15 minutes i was parked and let my truck idle afetr about a minute of idling my truck stalled and when i turned it back of it was squeeking and made some noises for about ten seconds and then stopped. - These water pumps are chronically junk. Luckily they are easy to change. If your mechanically inclined at all you can replace it for about $75 including antifreeze and it will take about 1.5 hours. Otherwise you should figure about $175 plus to have a shop replace it. ______________________________________ I see someone stated that they usually leak by this point. Thats true for every other vehicle ever made BUT! not for this unit.
