- Q: Hi everyone. I have a problem with my carpets. I recently bought a very nice, thin carpet. It is very detailed, thus it doesn't stay quot;flatquot;. It likes to move around and bulge. I have placed this carpet on another thick carpet. Now I need ideas to keep or stick my thin carpet on top of the thick one without damaging both of them. I dont want to glue or nail stuff done. - Rentals use inexpensive carpet and once it's matted down, it's on it's last leg. If you're shampooing and vacuuming regularly that's all you can do. Put a nice runner over the smushed areas. Spend the $150 on something nice you can take when you move.

- Take a paper towel and iron over it. it will re-wet the wax and it will adhere to the paper towel. Be careful not to melt the carpet though:) Also some say ice is supposed to work but I haven't tried that one.

- Hey minstine, I am a flooring associate from The Home Depot and selling rugs is part of my job, but not in this answer. If you're referring to to certain area rugs that are say oriental, large, or just have a lot of patterns in them, they can be pretty steep sometimes in price. The reasons vary a lot, but lets say you pick out a nice Persian rug thats 5' x 8', and you saw an almost similar one at another store, heck even almost exact. Upon actually seeing it or having a trained salesperson there, you can see it is way more money. If you actually feel the materials, colors, and patterns in them, you can see why the better time and features are put into the more expensive rug. Unless you are really actually there and feeling the rug, its hard to spend a lot of money on another rug thats cheaper you see online. Here is a list of reasons why rugs seem to be so darn pricey sometimes 1. Thread counts in the rug (1 million per sq. foot or higher means $$) 2. Type of material (wool are more expensive than say nylons) 3. Who made it (man-made is more expensive than a loom) 4. How and where it was shipped (imported or made locally) There are other factors as well, but those are the big ones I tell my customers about when they are shopping around for rugs. - if it is chemical fiber carpet, then brush it dry with a soft cloth and cut the fiber, and then use the hot steam smoked pure wool carpet for ten minutes. you could also cut off the fiber where is aspfalt with a knife.
- Q: im debating on putting carpet or tile into my bearded dragons tank instead of brown paper bags. is it hard cleaning poop off the carpet? because with tile you can just wipe it up. what one would be better?
- I prefer tiles. While the carpet may look nice and is not ingestible, the fabric can snag on claws and teeth. It is absorbent too, so even picking poop up right away will leave the bacteria behind inside the carpet - there is no wiping down, you have to wash the whole thing. As well as being much easier to clean, tiles also hold and spread heat better :)
