- Q: I have a 1 yr old Male, fixed, cat. He's never given me ANY problems. except lately he's been urinating on the bathroom rug.. Well, it sounds worse than it really is.. he did it once, then I washed the rug.. it was clean for a day.. then he peed on it once again. There are NO other cats in the house, the litter box IS in the bathroom. I can not scold him or correct the behavior because of the amount of time lapsed when he's gone on the rug. So he wouldn't know what he's being corrected for ( I was in Dog training) This is his only vice. :( Please help!
- Once okorder / Hey moron stick that thumbs down where the sun dont shine! Over 18,000 times to be exact this has been asked!
- Q: This must seem like a very random question, but does anybody have any red carpet trivia, e.g. procedures of laying it down, cost etc. Thanks.
- The words, red carpet, may also be part of phrases such as the red carpet treatment and rolling out the red carpet, which refer to any special efforts made in the interests of hospitality. The 20th Century Limited passenger train may be the origin of this phrasing, as the New York Central Railroad used plush crimson carpets to direct people as they boarded.[1]
- Q: I want to ask my mom if I can put carpet in my room, because right now its hardwood. We live where it gets cold, so it would be nice to walk on in the winter. It also more comfortable to walk on, and would look better. How much would it cost to carpet my room if its about 13 by 13 foot?
- Just a basic carpet itself costs in the 2.50/3.50 $ a s/f installed with a pad. Your room is an odd size for carpet so you can t do just by the s/f..Since carpet comes 12' wide you can get a 12x 12 cut off any roll carpet as low as 99 cents a s/f. Or small area rugs, place where you walk is a cheaper option if you can t afford full wall to wall carpet. Plus small area rugs won t ruin hardwood in the long run to keep the house value higher.. GL
- Q: I live in San Jose CA. I would pick the cheapest carpet and pading.
- Well that all depends on your square footage and how BIG each room is (sometimes with small rooms you can get two rooms out of one piece also if there are hallways and stairs you can save money that way by using the scraps (long edge pieces) for those areas... If you are lucky, you may be able to get decent carpet and pad for 10-15 per sq yard... of course that doesn't include installation. The best place to go is to a wholesaler (most all are open to the public) they usually have installers or at least can refer you to installers who will do the job for a reasonable price and sometimes even the wholesale places will arrange it as part of the price (costs a little more but worth it). We carpeted most of our house right before we moved in... was about 800-1000 square feet and it cost us 1300 *roughly* including everything...
- Q: My cat keeps scratching my carpet should i get her declawed oris there a way train her?
- Declawing is the very last option, to be used only when everything else has failed miserably at least twice and you are about to abandon her. How would you like the first joints of all your fingers removed, even if you didn't need them for defense? Cats need something to claw. Carpet-covered scratching posts work well for some cats. Others prefer sisal-wrapped posts. I had one cat that liked a chunk of log with the bark still on it. Every cat I've ever known has loved to scratch corrugated cardboard: box, sheet, or in a scratcher. You can put catnip on a new scratcher to attract the cat in the first place. After that you shouldn't need it, but they do enjoy it once in while. I clip my cats' claws every 3 to 4 weeks; just press on the paw pad and the claws come out. For kittens, you can use an ordinary people-type nail clipper. For larger cats, you can buy clippers at the pet supply store. If the cat's claws are white, you can see where to clip; just in front of the pink, as on your own nails. If the cat's claws are black or cloudy, clip the narrow tips just ahead of where they widen. If the cat won't cooperate, it may take two people and a towel wrap, but it only takes a few minutes every few weeks.
- Q: my brother spilled water on the carpet and instead of drying it up he just threw a towel over it and left it all night. now the carpet smells really bad of mildew. i tried washing it with soap and water and it helped a little. i tried febreeze but that did no good. i don't have a steam carpet cleaner.
- The carpet just sat overnight and now smells of mildew? Wow. First you need to kill the mildew. I would spray it with Lysol so that you saturate the wet spot. You need to make sure that the padding underneath the carpet will be clean and dry, so you may even need to lift up the carpet to check the padding. If the water has saturated through to the padding, you need to Lysol that too. Then blot it with a towel to get as much of the moisture out as possible, and turn a fan on that spot and leave it for a couple of days until you are sure it is completely dry. Then work some baking soda into the carpet and vacuum it up.
- Q: I have wall to wall carpets in my apartment. I have placed large rugs on top of the carpet. Without damaging the carpet or the rug, how can I stop them from .wrinkling and moving? Is it caused by static electricity?
- Call or visit carpet stores and ask for Rug Hold. Sometimes called Rug Grabber. It's an underlayment to prevent rugs from slipping on top of wall to wall carpet. The backing on rugs will not grab on the pile of carpet. Lowes or HomeDepot may carry it.
- Q: What is dornier carpet
- It is not as thick as wool quality, want to pursue more beautiful texture, washing pattern is beautiful mainly bacause the material is cotton and can be washed, don't buy carpet with good feet feeling, decorative pattern is relatively various and price is low, but the shortcoming is it's too thin.
- Q: I need a 10' x 6' or 11' x 7' area rug. the rug will be underneath a table and chairs with wheels. lots of traffic in this area. what should I look for? what type of material? who is a good manufacturer of area rugs?what retailer sells good ones?
- first of all, are you looking for an heirloom piece? Try oriental rugs or persian rugs. Very costly. Can set you back a couple grand but will increase in value over time. you need to look behind the rug for the quality. You are looking for handstitched and lots of detail, etc. The most important characteristic for me is durability and washability. Some you can put into the washer, others need special cleaners, some are spot clean only. The second characteristic important to me is texture. I like plush soft carpets that you can walk on with your bare feet. Of course, color choice and design are important. (floral? transitional? contemporary?) I like transitional. I'm a fan of Mohawk and Shaw area rugs. You can find them at Home Depot. Reasonable prices for machine made rugs.
- Q: How to make a throw rug?
- Area rugs do much more than simply cover your floors. They offer both comfort and style, and with the right positioning, can alter the entire appearance of a room. Standard rectangular rugs provide both utility and elegance while circular and octagonal rugs add a unique look. There are a wide range of sizes and styles available in a variety of colors and patterns, so you're sure to find one perfectly suited to any room or living space in your home. Area rugs can be constructed from a number of different materials as well, giving you even more choices. Selecting the perfect area rug can be simple with the following questions: How large should your area rug be? What style is best suited to the room? What colors and patterns will help you achieve desired effects? What purpose will the area rug serve? What type of fiber is best? Find answers to them according to your room. Hope that helps!
