- Q: My pony is not clipped and I was wandering what weight rug I should put him in in winter if at all. Should I put him in a stable rug when he is in his stable, and should I put a rug on him when he is out?Should I ride him in an exercise sheet as well?
- 14.2 IS a pony as you well know. he doesn't need any rugs at all if he isn't clipped. Wild horses don't wear rugs and farmers don't put rugs on their cows, sheep and pigs. People put rugs on horses to make people feel better but horses if they are not clipped and in rugs get too HOT in the least bit of sun. Nature has made them able to withstand cold and rain in a way humans cannot. My ponies live out all year and are not clipped and i ride regularly. But be warned lots of ignorant people will tell you that you are cruel if you don't put a rug on He doesn't need an exercise sheet, those are for clipped horses so they don't get a chill
- Q: burgandy nail varnish on a cream carpet, help??
- Go to home Depot. They sell pure Acetone (the stuff nail polish remover comes from.) Pour some on a rag and place the rag on top of the stain to soak for about 20 minutes or so, then come back and scrub, it may not get it all on the first try, make sure to use an absorbent cloth to get it up or else your carpet will be saturated. Hope it helps.
- Q: My horse lives in a paddock all week round and with the current climate in sydney its hot one day and raining the next. I live in sydney and he lives 2.5 hours away. He is on an agistment property but i only see him on weekends and the people feed him for me. Are there any rugs that you can think of that are breathable but fairly waterproof and would keep him dry in this annoying weather. TThank you so much and also please only answer if you actually have something helpful to contribute.
- It's NOT alright to leave a rug on a horse all winter long! the only time you should put any kind of blanket on a horse is if it actually *needs* it AND you can remove it as the weather changes. You can't do that from 2.5 hours away. Mother Nature has designed the horse to manage its own temperature and shed rain just fine, but as soon as you start putting clothes on the horse, you interfere with that wonderful thermoregulation system. If you can't put on and take off the clothes to keep the horse comfortable as the weather changes, you really shouldn't interfere with the horse's ability to keep himself comfortable. Really! Horses live in every climate on Earth, from subzero to burning hot, desert to rainforest and everything in between. It's only silly human arrogance and our concepts of comfort that make us think we can manage our horses' comfort better than they can.
- Q: I have a 6 x 9 jute rug under our dining table that has become very dingey and spotty. Any suggestions on the easiest method to clean?
- The best, safe and natural way to clean jute rugs are to sprinkle baking soda on it. Let it sit for 10 minutes. And then vacuum religiously. For tough stains, spray hydrogen peroxide on the stains. Let it sit for 5 minutes and rub the stain with paper towel or a brush. Your precious jute rug will look and smell all new.
- Q: what is a rug?
- A rug is a movable piece of carpet it doesn't cover from wall to wall, but it can be any size from a small one in front of your door, to a large area rug that covers a large section in the middle of your room.
- Q: When do you feel it is too cold or too hot for your horse and you need to rug him/her? How can you tell if your horse needs to be rugged or unrugged? Thanks, and could you also include some points about the differant types of rugs and what each are best for and when you should use them eg. winter rugs, summer rugs, cavasson (i think thats it:)), ect. thanks! xx
- A okorder / The higher the denier the tougher the rug. 600 denier will tear easier and be less water proof then a 1200 plus denier rug. I have the last one shown (Defender) is a great rug for really cold frosty winters. Tough denier and no neck rug attached, which I prefer for my horses that are not in much work. In spring I then switch it for a lighter rug, which they usually wear for a month or so before I leave it off completely. But please remember, even if you switch to a lighter rug, it will still need to come off each morning if it is warm and during their heavy moulting in the first month of spring.
- Q: My cat has a bad hairball problem, and whenever the seasons change she'll have barfing episodes almost every day for weeks. Okay here's the part that really boggles my mind:Our house is all hardwood floor, with linoleum in the kitchen and the bathrooms. We have a few throw rugs here and there. Now, out of all the places to puke, she ALWAYS chooses to puke on one of the various throw rugs in the house. One time I saw her retching and I picked her up and put her on the linoleum and she ran back to the throw rug and hurled, refusing to barf on bare floor. I really wish she would barf on the hardwood or the linoleum because then I could just quickly wipe it up instead of having to pre-treat and wash the rugs all the time. Does anyone know why cats prefer puking on carpet vs. bare floor surfaces?
- Yes, okorder / ... Tips for cleaning rugs: Use Resolve -- it is the best.... : ) Cat owners know that cats can be a real pain to clean up after at times. They knock things over, leave hair everywhere and often vomit up fur balls on your carpet. Even if you only have one room of carpet in your home they will find a way to make that room their favorite place to vomit. This article will give you some advice on cleaning cat vomit from your carpets so that you can get back to enjoying your pet. The first thing you need to do is clean up as much of the material from the surface as possible. Using dye free paper towels, scoop up any material you can and then blot up any remaining liquid. Next try using a damp cloth on the spot. Do not use any cleaner at this time. First try just plain water. You will be surprised at what plain water can do. Gently blot the spot , do not rub, until the stain is gone or until no more of the stain transfers. If the stain is still present you can now use a bottle of your favorite stain remover. Spray the cleaner on a rag or paper towel and gently dab the spot until the stain is gone or no more color transfers to the towel. Once again be sure to dab the spot and do not rub it. Lastly spray a mixture of 1 part white distilled vinegar to 2 parts water on the spot to neutralize the spot cleaner. Let it sit for a few seconds and then blot the solution up with a rag or paper towel. That's all there is to it. It will only take you a few minutes and then you can get back to enjoying your pet. Good luck. : ) Meooow... : )
- Q: Hi guysI'm moving to a new house and I want to replace the old carpet. But I'm stuck between carpet and laminate/hardwood.I thought carpet is warmer in winter but keep the carpet clean is a tough thing.can you plz give me some ideashave anyone had a carpet? Thanks for you time and help :)
- Depends where you want to put the carpet and wood. Actually flooring is all the same temp its just that carpet does feel warmer. Thats why well placed area rugs work out so well on wood. If this house is a long term investment, go hardwood. Properly maintained, it ll last a lifetime. As far as pricing goes, 0n the average ,carpet is overall cheaper than hardwood. But hardwood will outlast carpet when taken care .. If this is a shorter term investment, a good laminate may work out for you.. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q: We used a black light on our carpet last night and found black spots. When we turned on the lights we didn't see the spots. What stains turn black under black light?
- Protein stains, such as urine, blood, semen, will glow with a whitish tint. I've checked a thousand carpets with a black light,in total darkness, mainly to assess the extent of urine contamination so a decision can be made to either treat the stains or tear the carpet and pad out. I have never come across black stains as you describe them. In any case, even after extensive hot water extraction cleaning, the glow will remain. In your case, whatever caused the spots you see is probably long gone from the carpet, just the residual effect remains, which is permanent.
- Q: can i pop them in the dryer briefly? or would they burn the rugs have a rubber bottom . thanks also wat cycle should i useDOnt be rude
- Absolutely not! Shower curtains tear too easily in the washing machine. I wash my shower curtain with bedsheets only, using the gentle cycle on the washing machine. Anything outside of this will surely result in you needing to buy another shower curtain. As soon as shower curtain load is done washing, hang the shower curtain back up immediately. This will allow the shower curtain to straighten itself out without too many wrinkles.
