I've borrowed my parents brand new Bissell and it doesn't clean anywhere near as well as the Rug Doctor rentals. I have 2 jack russell's so I need to clean up stains frequently. The refurbished machines on the rugdoctor site are blue, not red so they are not pulled from the rental stores. They're probably returns or overstock from Costco or WalMart so I would trust them to be reliable and not used much. They don't cost much more than a Bissel or Hoover so I think its worth it to buy the highest quality machine. Even if its a hundred bucks more, it will last forever where most other machines seem to break after 2 years. The refurbished machines also have a 5 year warranty just like the brand new Rug Doctors. Buying a refurbished machine is probably a great way to save some cash on a machine that usually runs $500-600 and I trust the brand all day long.
