Q:I recently moved into my first apartment and its pretty nice except for the carpet in the living room. Its a kight green color and it's just full if stains. I would love to just put a new carpet in but thats not really practical because I'm just renting the place. It waould cost stanley steamers about $100 to clean it but this carpet is really old and stained. Would it even be worth that? I'm afraid I'm gonna spend the money and it's still gonna look gross: Make sure you take before pictures! that way when you move out you wont get blamed for the stains. Sears will clean 2 rooms for $69. You could buy a green machine handheld cleaner for that price too. Most grocery stores have the rental steam cleaners for less. If you go for the professional company then they have to get it clean or they wont make you pay.

Q:I am repainting and decorating my spare bedroom and have a question regarding carpet and area rugs. The room has honey stained pine hardwood floors which I want to keep. I dont really want to have carpet installed in the room, so here is what i'm thinking. How do you think it would look if I bout a piece of carpet alittle smaller than the size of the room and put that down? Like 3-5 inches of hardwood still exposed around the edges of the room. Would this look weird? I want just a plain colored light tan carpet with a thick nap or shag like. Any body have this or seen it done? Q:How are residential and commercial carpets differ from each other?: As well as being made of a lesser fiber blend the carpet is often treated with fire retardant and pesticides before installation, dyes are also different, matching a commercial carpet color to a residential retailer will mean a compromise.

Q:wy do we need carpets, why are carpets important? why did you buy a carpet?thanks: There are two reasons why we need carpets. The first is that when you have to pee really bad and can't make it to the bathroom, you can just pee on the floor and it will soak it up nice and tidily. The second reason is because carpets are warmer than wooden or cement floors and are softer on you toesies. I recommend carpets if you have arthritis. Also, carpets should be pink with black skulls on them. and maybe a blue turtle.

Q:I have rented the rug doctor before and have been satisfied w/ the results. I am in an apartment and not willing to pay for more. It works great for the $20 rental. However, the get you on the shampoo, anit-foam, ect. Does anyone have a cheaper alternative? By the time I get all this, its not so cheap anymore. Is there even possibly something organic I can make or get cheap? I am having a baby in 3 months and do not want the linger of chemicals in the carpet.: I use to rent rug doctors also but I finally bought one. I always use a half cap of tide with febreze laundry soap. You can get really any detergent you like. It will freshen and make the carpet smell great. Gain works well also. If you buy a high efficiency detergent, it will help with less sudsing but you should try the tide with febreze or the arm and hammer that has oxi clean stain fighters with it or tide with dawn scrubbers. It shouldn't harm the baby because detergent you wash clothes with. You could clean the carpet with baby detergent called dreft.

Q:I want to make carpet skates but don't know what material to use.: u don't really need much to make them. Carpet skating is possible if you use any material under your feet that will slide on carpeting. This also works on hard floors, too. To skate on carpet, start with a pair of nice thick socks. Cut out plastic foot pads for the bottoms and sew them in place. The plastic bottom will slide on the carpet without hurting the carpet material. To skate on wood, linoleum or any hard floor... just use the thick socks. Some kids do this without thinking about it. Carpet and sock skating is like any other type of skating. Please be safe. Don't try it near obstacles or furniture. Make sure surfaces are clean. Keep it simple. Real carpet skates are pretty cheap and probably offer a better surface for sliding:
