- Q:Diesel fuel savers are available today for diesel engines. These can be used for most diesel engines from school buses, big rigs, cranes, off-road equipment, marine use, and generators. If a mandate was passed to require these units to be installed tremendose sums of money could be saved by end users. For more info visit bestdieselsolutions
- Legislation is not necessary, if it works people will buy it.
- Q:i want to see the model of this perkins generating set
- That is the serial number for the engine only YD-35028- U-730936-F YD engine family 35028 parts list or sos number U country of manufacture in this case UK 730936 engine serial number F year of manufacturing Perkins Sold engines to many generator Manufacturers I can buy a Perkins engine and assemble a gen set with any available generator head and put (XTZ big bucks generator) on it for the name
- Q:I live in an area where storms are quite common, in fact the storm season approaches us. We have thunderstorms during which our lights start flickering. I am scared that one day light's would go out and we'd be left in the dark, to be safe, I want to build a small generator electric. I am not talking about toy generators or stuff like that. I want a small generator, one that I can use to charge cell phone (if dead) or power up the radio. Nothing too big either, mind you, I am not an engineer, I am a biologist, so I don't get all the connection stuff and such. So please go easy on the engineering lingo.
- Since you are nor an engineer, I think you'd better bought that generator. From you need, I guess something with capacity of 1000-2000 watts is enough. Things you need to consider: Quiet or noisy one (of course the quiet one is more expensive) Fuel (gasoline, diesel, or LPG)
- Q:1. are backup generators constantly running, so when the lights go out to the people inside it seems like they have not?2. what do they run off?
- They are not normally running. If power fails there will be some automatic emergency lighting powered by batteries which should allow the backup generators plenty of time to get started. They are often diesel powered. You can hope that they are reasonably maintained and tested from time-to-time.
- Q:Can any anyone help me with this. The generator is a brushless, air-cooled diesel generator without AVR. It is kinda old and it's made from Japan. The manufacturer is Yanmar.
- Open up the end of the generator and check the capacitor. It may need to be replaced. You may also have to flash the field if it hasn't been used for some time. Try one of these techniques 1. Plug the electric drill into the generator receptacle. If the drill is reversible, move the direction switch to the forward position. Start the engine. While depressing the trigger on the drill, spin the drill chuck in reverse direction. This will excite the field and the generator will now produce electricity. If spinning the chuck one direction does not work, try spinning the chuck in the other direction as you may have the reverse switch positioned backwards. Use caution not to get your hand or other materials caught in the chuck. As soon as the field is excited, the generator will produce power and the drill will turn on. 2. If the engine is working fine, but there is no output voltage try this trick. It may work on standard alternator type generators, but not on those which use an inverter. It worked for me in the past, but try at your own risk. First check to ensure that all circuit breakers and fuses are ok. Shut off the engine and remove any cords from the generator. Plug in a cord with bare wires on the other end to one of the 120VAC outlets. Connect one end of the cord to a car battery. Very quickly touch the other wire to the other battery terminal. Do not leave it there longer than to create a few sparks or you may destroy the windings. If the residual magnetism in the alternator had weakened, this may be enough to get it started again.
- Q:I just watched the Chernobyl Diaries and it made me really interested with the actual disaster and the impact of it. I never really knew anything about it up until watching this movie and it just fascinates me. What happened that the nuclear plant exploded? Did people did from it? What is Chernobyl like today? Just some interesting facts about the whole thing would be great!
- On April 26, 1986, the operating crew planned to test whether the Reactor No. 4 turbines could produce enough energy to keep the coolant pumps running until the emergency diesel generator was activated in case of an external power loss. During the test, power surged unexpectedly, causing an explosion and driving temperatures in the reactor to more than 2,000 degrees Celsius—melting the fuel rods, igniting the reactor’s graphite covering, and releasing a cloud of radiation into the atmosphere. The precise causes of the accident are still uncertain, but it is generally believed that the series of incidents that led to the explosion, fire and nuclear meltdown at Chernobyl was caused by a combination of reactor design flaws and operator error.
- Q:An internal combustion engine runs more efficiently at constant speed. If it was run to charge the batteries when needed, via a generator, it seems to me it would be much more efficient than today's dual mode hybrids. This is essentially what diesel-electric locomotives do, and they get much better gas mileage than cars.
- My understanding is that this IS how some hybrids work. At low levels of acceleration, the battery provides most of the work. It is when the car accelerates hard that the switch is made to use the gasoline engine. It is depends on whether the hybrid has a series or parallel configuration. The hybrids key nitch is stop-and-go traffic. Without it, there are other compact cars that get better gas mileage. The electro-resistive braking is one of the best features of hybrids, because it takes kinetic energy and converts it to electro-potential energy. That means in light acceleration and light breaking traffic, a driver would use far less energy. The engine in Toyota and some Honda hybrids are essentially high-end, high-efficiency generator engines. Engine acceleration is smooth (efficient) as the battery provides a good chunk of the energy in the beginning of the acceleration. Then the computer evaluates current draw, reserves, and current acceleration to set the engine speed. If you suddenly take your foot off the accelerator, the engine slowly revs down, sending the suddenly excess power to the battery. Because of the large battery bank and computer management, hybrids are actually far more efficient for variable demand situations than a standard generator. I don't know much about diesel-electric trains, but diesel is almost always the better bet for mostly constant-rate driving, and gasoline is the best bet for highly variable-rate driving. I can see a line of logic for a bio-diesel hybrid car with a significant battery pack to further smooth out the highs and lows. The link below might help you out.
- Q:if there is a website where you got it from, please put it in your answer.
- It is an engine, not a motor. What size, and relative to what, for what use.
- Q:Im currently working on a DC generator design . I have my output set to 3000 kw . Any idea what's the usually assumed voltage for this rating ?
- This is not possible or practical for any reason; especially using DC !!
- Q:Also would i be safe 20 miles away from the power station if any things happened. I am talking about the power station Dungeness B in Kent England. also if anything were to happen how long would i have to get out of the radius of the station.
- CMEs can induce current in long-distance power transmission lines. That can knock out enough transformers to shut down the grid. Power plants are not affected.
