Q: i wan't to make a small diesel generator. I've access to all of the machines.which are needed in this project.i know about how the engine works.i don't know how piston rings and piston seals the combustion chamber,how to make them.how much power will my generator will generate.i wan't to make this generator for my PC.: With respect, you're actually asking how to design and build your own engine. There are entire books on the subject, and you need plenty of diagrams as well. That's far beyond the scope of an answer on here. But if all you need is a 12v regulated dc power supply why not just get a model car or boat engine and see if you can hook it up to a car alternator from a scrapped vehicle via a suitable pulley gearing? It certainly won't be quiet though, and you'll need to ensure that the engine is either fan or water cooled and that there's a suitable exhaust outlet. Model diesel engines aren't very large, but there are larger scale copies of the old British Mills engine design made in India, and also various websites which give you details or sell you plans on how to build your own. Usually they have lapped pistons so don't need the complication of piston rings.

Where can I learn more about it?: My friend has a Westsail 32. He powers it with a AroGen 6 wind generator and two 125watt solar panels. So what does this power? 34 inch screen, with Satellite TV, laptop computer, mac mini computer, playstation 3, xBox, 32 inch monitor connect to a power mac tower with 4 very large hard drives busing all night long (Lol), LED through out the boat, stereo system, water maker, water pumps, and other miscellaneous stuff. Of course this equipment is not all on at one time but he has had it all turn on once before just to see if he could do it. What you need to have with the wind generator and solar panels is a large bank of batteries. Typically about 4 times the capacity of your daily consumption. The reason for this is to make your batteries last longer. Up to 7 years before you need to replace them. If you only have one bank you may need to replace them yearly. We did that and it get expensive. It's key to have at least 3 to 4 times the capacity. You'll also need an inverter. It take your DC batteries and creates AC for all your electronics. Yes you can by DC appliances and some of your navigation equipment will run on DC, but you'll find is cheaper to buy AC appliances and you'll also have more selection. He has a inverter with the brand name Outback which we found one of the best. It's pricey, but it has a built in computer that thinks about everything. It's great for when you forget to flip some damn switch, it will take steps to protect it's self and/or pull power from some other source. It even helps you make coffee in the morning. Q: I am leaving a career as an aviation electrician after 23 years and have applied for a job as a diesel locomotive electrician with Union Pacific. I was notified about a skills test and was hoping to brush up a bit before the test. Which areas should I focus on studying? Also what can I expect on a day to day basis working in this field? And lastly, although I can troubleshoot and wire a jumbo liner in my sleep I don't have specific experience with large generators and motors. How will this affect me in the hiring process. Q: I have diesel generator and when I loaded it up to 400 KW trip due to low ferquncy in which its total load 905 KW after I check up , I think that because fuel is not increase to feed injuction pump so that I want to know how actuator working ?: By the revolutions of the generator, or the (presuming AC output) frequency of the power generated. If the frequency is low, the revolutions are low. If the revolutions drop off when load is added, or frequency falls, you have a problem. somewhere.

Q: I accidentally filled my generator with diesel instead of unleaded. It already had a half a tank of unleaded so it has about half a tank of diesel. To make the full tank. Can anybody help me out please.: drain the tank and discard the mixed fuel refill with unleaded and it should be fine

Q: I would like to idle my 1981 mercedes benz 300sd for about 4 to 8 hours a day. will i hurt my car somehow if i do this?i am buring diesel to generate powers to charge my battery bank, so i have power for my power tools, it's hard to explain: No damage. truckers do it every night to run the A/C or the heater. There is a cheaper way; generator or wind charger or hydroelectric. My honda generator can do 4 hrs on about 1/2 gal. If you need DC only you could build a gen using a car alternator (internally regulated, one wire) and a lawnmower engine.

Q: I want to power a water heater, a blower fan, and a small water pump continuously with a diesel generator run on Biodiesel. Is it possible to set up a system of some deep cycle batteries that will carry the load for say 1/2 hour or 1 hour and have the generator kick on automatically when the voltage drops to charge the batteriesthis way the generator will not be run continuously. What you need to do is to determine the maximum current draw, and size the equipment accordingly. One important point to remember is that batteries do not like to be re-charged rapidly. Therefore, the drain on the batteries in say 1/2 hour, may take several hours to recharge. This scheme works very well with solar energy, but what you may very well end up with huge losses in efficiency. I can tell you first hand, that if you are able to buy power from the electric company, it will be the cheapest, cleanest alternative. And, no, I do not work for the government, or the power company but I do have an old wind turbine and an empty bank book.

Thanks .: The frequency need depends on the application. clocks are a good example because they use the frequency as an internal timer. some devices will operate fine on a close but different freq. same with voltage, most devices know that voltage ranges. Depends on the variance.
