Q: I have a 3 phase 30k 60hz generator what would I need to do to use this to power my home ?: You need a Transfer switch, either manual $350.00 or automatic over a $1,000.00 The switch will stop the possibility of back feeding power either from the utility to the generator or from the generator to the utility.

Q: Winter diesel generator should pay attention to what?: Note that the water tank can not be frozen, there is a special method to prevent long-term anti-corrosion, antifreeze or use of electric heating equipment to ensure room temperature above freezing point.

Q: i wan't to make a small diesel generator. I've access to all of the machines.which are needed in this project.i know about how the engine works.i don't know how piston rings and piston seals the combustion chamber,how to make them.how much power will my generator will generate.i wan't to make this generator for my PC.: With respect, you're actually asking how to design and build your own engine. There are entire books on the subject, and you need plenty of diagrams as well. That's far beyond the scope of an answer on here. But if all you need is a 12v regulated dc power supply why not just get a model car or boat engine and see if you can hook it up to a car alternator from a scrapped vehicle via a suitable pulley gearing? It certainly won't be quiet though, and you'll need to ensure that the engine is either fan or water cooled and that there's a suitable exhaust outlet. Model diesel engines aren't very large, but there are larger scale copies of the old British Mills engine design made in India, and also various websites which give you details or sell you plans on how to build your own. Usually they have lapped pistons so don't need the complication of piston rings.

Q: HelloI am doing a question on my homework and im being asked to determine how long a tank of gas on a diesel generator would last a family if one tank produced 20kW of electricity. This family uses 2.052kWh of electricity every day. The problem i have run into is that i don't know how to determine how long tha tank can last with only those values, i have a feeling im missing something very obvious here. Any help would be great.Thanks!: You can't quite do this from first principals. The Gen-set manual may give a spec for fuel consumption, or for efficiency. More likely it does not. The solution is to fill the tank, run it on a dummy load or a real load, if you like, and see how long it takes to get to half way. Or some graduated point. I wouldn't run a diesel dry, as they tend to continue to run on their lubricant until they seize up. Much as I like to model and estimate things, I'm still an empiricist at heart. Jim Jarvis

The batteries would only kick-in for hills, boost of power, etc. I am interested in this design, anyone know if it works well? Can I use a 480volt 3ph gen-set to power motor/Drive for more efficiency/power? I already know about the volt,prius,leaf.: Good luck driving a car wiht a 10 horsepower motor.

Q: I want to know if someone put gasoline instead of diesel in my generator. I'm use to seeing dark yellow fuel in it and now the muffler is red hot: Well I remember my Dad had purple diesel on the farm. Everclear is a great band. My favorite song by them is AM Radio.

A 5MW generator therefore requires about 6,705 hp. 6705/15 447 gal/hr in 30 days30 * 24 *447 321,840 gallons. Given that very large engines can be extraordinarily efficient, which will make up for some of the mechanical and electrical losses, a good guess would be 300,000 gallons

Q: Can someone please tell me what is the piston ring cap is for the 186FA Diesel Engine 10hp, fitted into the powermate PM6100DS / 6KW Generator.: Just about all the rings you purchase new today come pre-gapped to the correct tolerance, just like spark plugs. Way in the past, of course back then it was necessary to check the gap. With such a small engine 1/16 is plenty.

Q: I am doing a research project and I can't find anything about there being power plants on Easter Island, Do they have to bring in batteries?: Electricity, also widely available, but expensive by world standards, is provided by diesel generators to 220v Chilean standard, using a 2-pin round plug. The USA constructed Hotel Hangaroa maintains its American standard 110v 2-pin flat plug.
