- Q: I built my own, verry successfull HHO gas generator and I want to inject the gas being produced, strait into my car engine but the flame keeps going back into my hose, i have going strait into the air intake carb, and blowing up my generator! I built a little flashback arrestor with gas piping filled with aquarium airstones and that obviously didn't work. Where can i buy a professional industrial flashback arrestor so I don't have to make my own?
- If you use the term 'HHO', you sound like an idiot. There's no such chemical. There's H2, there's O2, and there's H2O. Electrolysis of H2O (aka water) produces H2 (hydrogen) and O2 (oxygen) gas. Burning H2 (reacting it with O2) produces H2O. Nowhere in this process is anything called 'HHO' produced. But the bigger isue is why you'd even want to put hydrogen gas into your car engine. It is designed to burn gasoline (or diesel), not hydrogen. Putting hydrogen into a gasoline engine is like a human eating a rock. Sure, it's possible, but it doesn't give you any benefits, and it could cause serious problems.

- Nice to have your Q, i am also a Jack up Rig Design Engineer. Ok. see 1st of Jackup rigs have diesel generators which provide power supply for the various electrical power requirements on rig. usually the voltage level is 6.6kV, 4.16kV, 690V or 600 V which is then further reduced upto 415V, 220V/127V as per load and client requirements since it affects the design and overall space required and size of rig as well. the generated power is 1st transferred to the main PMCC or MCC known as generator switchboards. from here the power is dirtributed to various other switchboards such as jacking MCC, drilling MCC, Ventilation MCCs, VFD panels (for top drive mud pump panels through VFD/SCR system) and other MCCs for other electrical loads. voltage is further reduced upto 415V/220V/127V for lighting and other lv loads using dry type transformers. oil filled trafos are not preferred since they r bulky and not feasible to have them on rigs since its in sea and also problem in maintenance. cables used are usually of XLPE or XLPO insulation. the configuration is as follows CU/XLPE or XLPO/Inner sheath (SHF)/Armour/Outer sheath (SHF), the inner and outer sheath has to be low smoke halogen free material, armour is usually bronze wire armour, usually cables used are all flame proof as per iec 60332, cat 3-22A and cables for emergency purposes are fire resistant as per iec 60331. hope this is fine.

- At what voltage? The ampereage will be different under similar loads at different voltages.
- Q: Also would i be safe 20 miles away from the power station if any things happened. I am talking about the power station Dungeness B in Kent England. also if anything were to happen how long would i have to get out of the radius of the station.
- Same thing that happens whenever there's a power failure over a large area. They diagnose it, they fix any damaged parts, and then they turn the power back on again. The plant itself is still going.
- Q: I live in an area where storms are quite common, in fact the storm season approaches us. We have thunderstorms during which our lights start flickering. I am scared that one day light's would go out and we'd be left in the dark, to be safe, I want to build a small generator electric. I am not talking about toy generators or stuff like that. - Scott: Since Diesel has a much lower vapor pressure than gasoline(7lbs/PSI) by far it is judged by flash point(under 130F degrees Properly stored(moisture and air is prevented from entering the tank) it can be stored almost indefinitely. These are the contaminates which degrade and evaporate regular gasoline. As gasoline evaporates( little or no problem with diesel at ambient temperatures) it leaves residues which form gums. In refineries and other business having sources of ignition, diesel is the prefered fuel for running equipment because is far less hazardous than gasoline which has a high vapor pressure and low ignition point, even a spark can set it off.
- Q: I may soon have to relocate to a place where the electricity is infrequent but my livelihood depends on the internet. my plan is to access the internet through the telephone and run the computer on a diesel generator and also an inverter. is it possible, what precautions should i take to make this work. will this plan work.
- Not a problem at all. Although a battery backup is relatively inexpensive and would be invaluable if the generator runs out of fuel or quits for some reason. It would give you time to do a normal shut down. Make sure your inverter is a regulated power supply, you don't want extreme voltage or current fluctuations.
- Q: Having lots of diesel fuel to make electricity (200-800KW)is it better to use a diesel generator or a steam turbine?(Remember : the only way to produce steam is burning diesel)Does anybody know how many KWh can make per 1000gal?

- Generators all use magnets of one form or another either permanent magnets, or electromagnets.

- Using vegetable oil as a diesel fuel can and almost will always cause some sort of damage in the long run. But to answer your question, yes it will work. You might want to thin it out a little with some kerosene or a little diesel fuel since vegetable oil is a little thicker.
