So the idea of a engine that has so many ways to make the fuel, fuel that has more energy per gallon, cleans the air as it drives, the engine has plenty of torque for it's size and weight---just makes scents to me that it would make a good hybrid
- Q: I have put together a 4 cylinder peugeot diesel and an 8 kw alternator.At first it was direct coupled to run at 1500 rpm but didn't have enough grunt when i struck an arc with my mig welder. I then put in a lay shaft the engine runs at 2275rpm alternator at 1500rpm. same problem engine allmost stalls under heavy load. At this speed the engine is producing max torque 70 lb ft the alt should only need 33 lb ft. pls help

Or do I stay where I am at were I have some stabability, lead position, unstable hours (avg. 40-65 hrs plus nights away from home/family), possabilities of advancment and, a since of loyalty to bosses. - I could be wrong, but it depends on how many years you've been working there and how many people depend on your steady paycheck. I don't know the industry your working in, but it's possible that those hours could be the norm for a person in your present position. - The size is relevant. Is this a small portable set for homes, or a large stationary unit for a building. I'll assume the latter. Enclose it in a sound barrier, but bring the exhaust out the top and make an air inlet at the bottom that goes to the air intake of the engine. You may need additional openings for ventilation to keep the engine from overheating. You may be able to bring the radiator outside the enclosure to solve that problem. Make sure you have a very good muffler. Look into finding a better one. You may be able to buy an enclosure for the generator, check with the manufacturer. PS, you seem to have this located indoors. That is a very bad idea.

Would I be correct in assuming that because my load is power factor 1 that the full load of my generator is 640kW not 520kW.Or is it that my actual power loading is rated at 520kW, but that load is allowed to be inductive or capacitive to 0.8.Because it says 900 amps on the plate I am therefore under the assumption that regardless of my load characteristics, as long as I do not exceed 900 amps there should be no problem. Or is it a case that my load can only be 520kW and the highest I can allow the phase to go out is up to 640kVA.Hope that makes sense, ill edit if not. Thanks for reading.
- While your generator will handle the amperes as either KVA or KW, unfortunately, the KW rating is is the rating of your driver. You are driver limited, not generator limited.
