Q:what is a power cable? What does a power cable have to do with an xbox 360?Is a power cable the same thing as an AV cable?
The power cable is the Plug that goes from the Power outlet to your Xbox360. The AV cable is the cable going from your xbox 360 that splits into 3 plugs and plugs into your tv
Q:Recently I bought a EVGA Geforce 8800 GTS. When it came in, the card fits in my case but has 2 cables to plug in. I only have 1 cable to plug them in connected to my power supply. Should i only plug in 1, or is it nessesary? Is there an extra one I just dont know about? Please answer!
You need to get a power cable splitter that goes from two to one. It should have come with the card, if not any local computer store should have one.
Q:Im going to get a new graphics card. I am getting the XFX Geforce 9800 GT and it needs 1 six pin PCI Express power cable. It comes with a cable to convert 2 molex cables into 1 six pin pci power cable. Problem is, is that dont have any molex cables available. I have 4 SATA power cables. So if I got a converter to convert 2 SATA power cables into 2 Molex cables into 1 six pin power cable work? Would I lose any voltage/ watts? Please let me know, I got the graphics card for christmas and I dont want to end up with it not even working.
I okorder ) And no, it won't work. The PCIx power is drawing from a different part of your PSU than the molex is. Send me an email, and we can talk about upgrading that PSU. If we figure something out, I'll edit the post on here to reveal our findings. Cool?
Q:I'm installing my car audio system in the morning. I have a 650w 4 channel amp for my four interior speakers and a class D monoblock amp for my sub.I have an 8awg wiring kit. If I split that to use it on both amps, it would end up at 16awg going to the amps. Is this thick enough for my setup?
1. We can't answer without knowing more about your amplifiers. 650w 4 channel doesn't tell us anything useful, because the power rating may be a peak number that's only good for marketing, and you didn't tell us anything about the monoblock amplifier at all. Give us brand and model numbers and we might be able to help. 2. If I split that to use it on both amps, it would end up at 16awg going to the amps ....no. That's now how it works. (I'm not sure how you envision splitting the wire to make two wires that are half the size; are you cutting it down the middle with a razor?) You can use a distribution block to connect both amplifiers to the same main power wire, but you don't have to go to a smaller wire out of the d-block: you can run 8-gauge wire from the battery to the distribution block, then more 8-gauge from the d-block to each amp. 3. Even if you did cut the 8-gauge wire in half, a wire half the size of 8-gauge isn't 16-gauge. It's 11-gauge. If you put six 16-gauge wires together, you'd get a wire that's a little smaller than 8-gauge. Please edit your question with the brand and model numbers of both amplifier, along with the estimated length of the wire run (ie, how many feet of wire do you need to go between the amps and the battery?) Then we can tell you what gauge wire you need. Edit: thanks for the update. Based on the information about your amplifiers, I don't think you should run both of them from the single 8-gauge wire. I'd switch to a 4-gauge dual amp kit, or you can buy a second 8-gauge kit and run each amp with its own power wire to the battery rather than sharing a single wire.
Q:I'm trying to run a cable and power outlet into a closet for a media space but im not sure how to add the outlets in there. The area where the closet is, is on a wall that has no outlets and behind the closet is a bathroom which has no outlets on that side of the wall either so theres nothing to tap into. please help.thank you.
This is for a media closet, so more than a couple things will be plugged in right? Consider pulling a new circuit back to the panel. You can also tap into an existing circuit by finding the last receptacle on that line and dropping a new cable down the wall into the box. Try not to load the circuit above 80% of it's rating, so 15=12A, 20=16A. I'm assuming you have an unfinished attic or basement as you already plan to run media cable.
Q:I don't know what kin d of power cord i would need in order to make it work. I thought all monitors needed the same power cable, but im not sure.
That one uses a standard plug to the wall. Same type that computers use. Some LCDs need ac adaptors though so they have a special external box then usually the normal power cable with the ground.
Q:I bought a grand am and i was going to install a amp. in the trunk there are servil wires comming out of the side but idk which is with what does the power cable look like? the rc cables remote ect? all the ends are just cut off
the power cable is red the remote cable is blue and the ground is a short cable ..black color the rca's are two inputs..hahaa i hope that helps you
Q:I had gave my amp a 16 volt input, then there was a spark which came from fuses that got burnt. I then replaced the fuses, rewired it nd gave it a 12 volt input it came on and went on protection. So i left it aside and after a few days i tryd connecting it again but this time it came on and it was burning the power cables no matter what guage wire i used. Any idea why its doing that?
Look for a short circuit in the input power circuitry.
Q:My ISP had installed an outdoor antenna from where a white RJ45 cable runs into a little white box (which is plugged into AC outlet) and from the same white box i do have another RJ45 jack plugged into my laptops NIC card. I came to know that the white ethernet cable is Power over Ethernet cable which carries the power as well as data. I just want to know if i can plug that ethernet directly into my laptops NIC card ? Can i do that will there be any harm to my laptop's NIC ??
It sounds like your ISP is using an Axcelera (I don't remember the exact spelling) radio. The ac power powers the radio over the cable going to the antenna, but that power is separated from the cable going to your computer. It is completely safe.
Q:My 4 gauge power cable is hooked up to the battery's positive terminal and the other end to my amplifier's terminal. Is it safe to accidentally touch the ring terminal (end) of this power cable? I won't feel any electrical shock or anything will I?
No you should be fine but you should turn the car off and hook the amp up and the positive wire on the positive side of the battery then start it up
