- Q: I'm running a 3ghz ecs p965t with 2gb of RAM, and I'm trying to install an XFX 8800GT. First time I tried it, it didn't power on at all, and I figured it might be the power supply (mine was a 350w) so I tried a friend's 450w, still no power. So I went out and bought a 500w, and STILL no power. Wierder still, if I leave the card plugged into the board but don't plug in the power connector, it makes a long high-pitched wailing sound but the system does power itself.I'm assuming it must be a problem with the card itself, but does anyone have any other possibilities I could try before negotiating a replacement in PC World?
- I think its the card. This is not uncommon. Card sounds DOA. Exchange it. 500 watts is good, the others are not, but lack of power would not kill a card, I don't believe. good luck. 8800GT is a sweet card, thats what I have, I play at 1920x1080 and get between 40 and 60 FPS in far cry 2 and great frames in oblivion maxed out. I get around 30 in crysis on high.

- You can go out and find a splitter or remove your floppy drive and get an usb floppy drive if uyou really need it

- A dodgy power cable can very easily singe or burn the power socket on the computer. In general, the lighter the cable, the more dodgy it is. $2 is nothing - I would buy a more expensive cable. The cents you save isn't worth it when your house is on fire. It's impossible to know whether your power supply or other computer components suffered any damage because of the electrical fire. You could try testing with a multimeter, but you should probably replace the power supply at a minimum.

- It just means that the rectangle thing that connects to your xbox is unplugged from the brick, thats all, nothing to worry about.

- What is the question here? Are you looking to buy a replacement power cable? One of the multi use ones would work fine, set it for 9 volts. The other important part is the current rating (amps or mA). What does the DVD player say it needs? Make sure the new power cord can supply at least that much. Voltage: try 9 first, if not work then try 10 or 11 or 12. No higher than 12. Current: the same number or higher than listed on the player.
- Q: My car wont start and only starts after moving power cables up and down. Im not sure what the problem is. If i slightly move it I see alittle sparking under the engine. When i manipulate the battery power cables it manipulates all the wires connecting to it so i cant pin point where the problem is. When i try to start ignition there is zero sound. - Sounds to me that you have a BAD BATTERY here. Is it the ORIGINAL factory one, or some after market one?? When the cells inside a battery short out internally, sometimes if you jiggle the cable, it will make a false, temporary connection inside. Remove your battery, and have it bench tested. Get another factory battery, or an OPTIMA battery or a DEKA battery. THese all tested higher than usual. A good EUROPEAN battery is another good choice, if you can find one in that exact size. GOOD LUCK!! CLean your IAC valve and throttle body. THis will insure the wuickest ,easiest starts. GOOD LUCK!!

- not all graphic cards need them. But lately the graphic cards are using up quite a bit of power, especially the high-end ones. So if the graphic card has a pci-e power connector. Chances are it will need it. Otherwise your computer might show graphics are there will be error when trying to play games or other graphic intense applications. The same thing is happening to graphic cards, that happen to processor a few years ago. Not that long ago processors could just be powered by the energy coming from the bus line on the motherboard, but that is not true anymore and now we use 4-pin or the new 8 pin axillary power for the processor.
