- Q: Hi everyone,I attempted to build my first PC; purchased the hardware, software, etc. Everything is assembled perfectly. After installing the motherboard, power supply and the respective cards, I connect the power cable.Upon connecting the power cable, the PC turns on and the only way to turn it off is to remove the power cable (from the back of the PSU). The PC boots up as if I pressed the power button!!I've read that this problem could be the power supply or the capacitors on the board??I'd be appreciative for any advice,Thanks,p
- Hmm that sounds like you have missplaced the cables to the motherboard from the front pannel (on switch, HDD led etc.) Kenny
- Q: I can't find out where to put my SATA data cable at... My computer has a SATA power cable though, but I can't seem to find where to put the SATA data cable, I have the data cable in my hand. Can somebody help me? Since I have a SATA power cable in my PC does it mean I can put a SATA data cable in my PC? My PC is a: hp compaq, model: DPS-240EB, if that helps...
- Should be labeled on the motherboard, if not look for a port that looks like the end of the cable. It only will fit in a SATA port so your safe to try to fit it.
- Q: I have just bought a pair of Yamaha HS50m monitors, connected only the power cable, switched them both on, and they are both making a noticeable constant hissing noise? Is this normal? Should this happen? Is it because I have not yet connected them to my interface or any other device?I am worried I have purchased a dodgy pair and would be grateful for any info.many thanks
- You might have a short somewhere.
- Q: I have a hard drive that has an enclosure is there any way to take an internal 3.5hard drive and convert it to an only usb cable portable hard drive with no power cord?
- No. Not a 3.5 hard drive. You can do it with a 2.5 laptop drive because the drive mechanics and electronics require less power. A 3.5 drive requires too much power for USB to provide. Though... In the near future, you will see USB ports that are capable of supplying more power than the standard .5 amps that USB currently provides. So after they come out, you might see it being a possibility then.
- Q: when you install a power cable you usually route it through the door seal and under the carpet. If there are existing speaker wires that go to your rear speakers, will the power cable create an interference?
- General rule is to keep power wires and wires that run sound signals separte. I always run my power and remote wires on one side of the car and speaker and rca wires on the other side of the car.
- Q: Where to plug the power cable wich includes in HIS Radeon 3850? And it so short , cant imagine where it will go.. plz someone help me..
- they Plug into a molex connetion on your PSU(power unit) its the samething that connects to your CD-rom and Hard drives but be forewarned the 3850 needs a 500watt PSU to run right or you will burn it out
- Q: I'm installing my car audio system in the morning. I have a 650w 4 channel amp for my four interior speakers and a class D monoblock amp for my sub.I have an 8awg wiring kit. If I split that to use it on both amps, it would end up at 16awg going to the amps. Is this thick enough for my setup?
- 1. We can't answer without knowing more about your amplifiers. 650w 4 channel doesn't tell us anything useful, because the power rating may be a peak number that's only good for marketing, and you didn't tell us anything about the monoblock amplifier at all. Give us brand and model numbers and we might be able to help. 2. If I split that to use it on both amps, it would end up at 16awg going to the amps ....no. That's now how it works. (I'm not sure how you envision splitting the wire to make two wires that are half the size; are you cutting it down the middle with a razor?) You can use a distribution block to connect both amplifiers to the same main power wire, but you don't have to go to a smaller wire out of the d-block: you can run 8-gauge wire from the battery to the distribution block, then more 8-gauge from the d-block to each amp. 3. Even if you did cut the 8-gauge wire in half, a wire half the size of 8-gauge isn't 16-gauge. It's 11-gauge. If you put six 16-gauge wires together, you'd get a wire that's a little smaller than 8-gauge. Please edit your question with the brand and model numbers of both amplifier, along with the estimated length of the wire run (ie, how many feet of wire do you need to go between the amps and the battery?) Then we can tell you what gauge wire you need. Edit: thanks for the update. Based on the information about your amplifiers, I don't think you should run both of them from the single 8-gauge wire. I'd switch to a 4-gauge dual amp kit, or you can buy a second 8-gauge kit and run each amp with its own power wire to the battery rather than sharing a single wire.
- Q: I would like to buy a replacement. What AC/DC adaptor should I buy? Should I buy the exact same model (FSP150-AAA)? I assume any AC/DC adaptor that has the same spec is ok but I am not sure what is the key for the spec. Any advice would be appreciated.
- There appear to be various manufacturers of FSP150-AAA power supplies. You must have a substantial laptop or whatever that is powering. Most laptops have 65 to 90 watt PSU, my gaming laptop is 120 watt, and FSP150-AAA is 150 watt. Or is that an all-in-one PC where the computer is built into a screen? The one you link to is one of the ones I found in a web search.
- Q: What happen's when you just yank the power cord out from the electronic (Computer or TV) while it is still running? Does it blow a fuse or something? And what should I do to fix whatever the problem is, assumming that the electronic doesn't turn on after i yank the power cord out?
- Yanking a power cable out of a PC that's running, could lead to a voltage spike. This can fry your power supply, and possibly go further. (Motherboard, ram, graphics card) Same thing, with having a computer power cable plugged into a surge protector, and then plugging it into the power supply. YOU, can replace the components of a Personal Computer. It's too technical and dangerous to try it with a TV, unless you're a qualified tech, and have the required tools.
- Q: i have a 01 grand prix gt and i want to run the power cable to an amp , anyone know a good spot to run it?
- In that vehicle the battery is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment. There should be a large, rectangular rubber grommet located at the front of the passenger side footwell, with a large wire bundle running through it. I usually route the power wire through that grommet, or drill a hole right next to it. It's important to carefully route and secure the wire in the engine compartment so it can't touch hot or moving engine parts. You'll also want to make sure you seal up the hole around the power wire because it's easy for water to get in at that location.
