- Q: I am remodeling a room and I'm not sure if I should put in the baseboard or the carpet first. Also, if the baseboard is first how much of a clearance does the carpet need to get tucked under?
- HK has it right ..You have to put the tackstrip right against the baseboard to stretch the carpet..if you put carpet first..then you have to put the baseboard on top of the carpet, which the base will not be straight then due to the carpet pile..this will also mean the tack strip will be laying on top of the carpet and will be on a cushioned surface that has give and stretch in it and will wobble around some loosing the nails in the tack strip..the tack strip needs to be laid on a HARD FLAT surface for the nails for it to seat flush into the concrete...It cannot be put on top of a pile of carpet and not have give in it..Your tack strip will be popping up within 2 months in places..
- Q: I need one for the outside of the bath/shower. I have a regular small rug but it gets soaked easily. Ive heard about ones you get that are supposed to absorb water well. Any idea where I can get one?

- Q: I cannot for the life of me find the rugs in sims 2. I've seen some other answers here that say things like quot;decorations, rugs, put it on the floor.quot; well obviously if I am having to ask, I'm not able to follow those instructions as easily as you. Call me retarded or what you want, but all I see under decorations is plants, sculptures, wall hangings, mirrors, and curtains. So if someone could give me a real answer instead of some sarcastic bs, that would be great. Thx.
- I just opened my game to see where the rugs were and they are here: Buy Mode Decorative Under Decorative as you already said there are the sub-categories plants, sculptures, wall hangings, mirrors, curtains, then rugs, then an icon that has 3 little buttons that is the sub-category miscellaneous, then next to that an icon that looks like a figure 8 on its side that represents the sub-category 'All'. Can you see MISCELLANEOUS and ALL? It is possible that the sub-category 'rugs' only appeared after I installed a certain expansion pack. I'm not sure as it's nearly 5 years since I just had the original game on its own. But if that is the case, and 'rugs' only got its own icon sub-category after EA released certain expansion packs, then I would guess that if you have the base game with no expansions rugs would either show up under DecorativeMiscellaneous or DecorativeAll. There are only 2 or 3 rugs that I can say for certain came with the base game- this is maybe why they didn't originally have their own sub-category, would hardly have been worth it for only a couple of items. And custom rugs will nearly always show up under DecorativeMiscellaneous. This is because they are hardly ever cloned from Maxis rugs, which are very boring.
- Q: when you leave heavy furniture on a carpet it leaves a mark like if you have a wardrobe on a vcarpet it leaves a mark but does the mark stay forever or does it only last a little bit?
- It goes away after awhile.
- Q: My husband is in Afghanistan right now and can buy those Chinese silk rugs for really cheap and we are debating whether to buy one for under our dining room table. Would you say it’s a good idea to put a rug under your dining room table is that I common thing to do. This is the first time we have owned a house and I am no home decorator.

- Q: I need help removing odours from our carpet. We're renting at the moment and the carpet was pretty grubby when we moved in but we've cleaned it up a fair bit with a wet/dry vaccuum cleaner. We've had a litter of puppies recently though and as puppies do, they've had a few accidents on the carpet. The carpet now has a urine smell in it and I'm trying to get rid of it but not sure what to use. I've tried using teatree/eucalyptus oil, and a few carpet cleaners. They work removing the stains but not the smell. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
- I know for spot cleaning, vinegar is your best bet. It freshens the carpet, gets rid of the stain, and eliminates the odors. But if it is a widespread area...well...that's a lot of vinegar, but it may be an option. Or You could sprinkle baking soda all over the carpet and let it sit overnight and vacuum it up. Baking soda absorbs odors, but if the urine is still in the carpet, it won't work (and you have too keep all of the animals off the carpet because eating baking soda isn't good for them. Try the vinegar first. When it dries you can use the baking soda. A cut up onion in a bowl of water overnight will help odors too. I wish you luck!
- Q: The difference between different carpet materials
- Used in public area
- Q: How to clean the carpet wax?
- Spray the carpet with a stain and then scrub it into the carpet with a spoon. Dry quickly with a white towel, then let the carpet dry naturally (before it dries completely, it will look a little darker). Light carpets and dark stains may need several washings to recover.
- Q: I live in the UK where the weather totally changes from one day to the next. One day it's freezing, the next it's hot. So I never know which rug to put on my horse. If I put a lightweight on and the weather turns cold he'll be cold. But if I put his mediumweight on and the sun comes out he'll be hot. Which is better?
- It depends very much on the horse. A good doer/fatter horse such as a cob will be better off being a little cold - so long as they have the wind kept off them with a light weight then they have enough fat to keep warm and it helps to control weight as they use some energy to stay warm. A thoroughbred type/thinner horse or older one is going to be better off being in a thicker rug and possibly being a bit warm as if they get cold they will loose weight. It also depends on how you normally rug your horse. At the moment our cobs only have rain sheets on most of the time while our tb has a medium weight - thick rug on.
- Q: The floor is pretty beat up in some of the rooms and between having a baby and preparing for a deployment I don't know if we're going to be able to fix it properly in the near future so I want to prevent further damage with rugs and runners.Anyway, I want to put runners and rugs down in the heavy traffic areas. Couple of questions:Do you know of a good store/website that has matching rugs and runners for reasonable prices? Also, we plan to put the runners on stairs ourselves, which are all wood also (they are straight and all the stairs are uniform in size so it shouldn't be a problem ... it's a three-story-house) but we were wondering if we can just buy a runners to do this or do we have to buy special runners specifically made for staircases? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
- OKorder has matching rugs and runners of all shapes and sizes. Also, JC Penny used to sell matching rugs and runners, maybe they still do. I have personally purchased two runners and stapled them, one after the other, onto my stairs. It was supposed to be a quick-fix but it turned out so well, that here we are 7 years later and it still looks great. If you select a runner with a boarder, begin at the top of the steps. Once you work your way down the steps, you may have to cut off the edge of the rug (boarder) and then some, so the cut lands at the end of a riser above a stair tread. If you want the boarder to show at the bottom of the steps, begin the second runner at the bottom of the steps and work up to the other runner until they meet in the riser crease. This will look like it is all one custom piece with a boarder all around the edges. Good luck. To protect your floors from further damage until you can get around to either refinishing the floors or installing wall to wall carpeting, I would certainly use rug pads under any runners or throw rugs. You say you are preparing for deployment. I wish you and your family all the best and I am grateful for our military. Thank you.
