Q: I bought an area rug from Home Depot, a large 7x9 rectangular rug. It has creases from being rolled up. I have searched online for any tricks that will help it to lay flat, and nothing seems to be working. I have:Rolled the rug the opposite way.Turned the rug over for 2 days.Ironed the areaI attempted to heat a wet towel in the dryer to place it on the area... but by the time I got the towel to my rug, it wasn't warm anymore.I've heard of any quot;ice cube trickquot;, but I seriously don't understand it. If the creased line is the length/width of the rug, do you place 7 feet of ice cubes on it???I have had this rug for almost 3 months! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you could give me any suggestions or tricks, I'd really appreciate it.
Lay the rug out in the sun to warm Then back roll the rug is the best way to do it. It should be back rolled around a tube. Carpet tubes work the best. Roll it tight. If the rug is large have some one help you. Then place in a very warm area such as out in the sun for as long as possible during the day. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: is there a laundry with big boy washers to wash a rug?
no she has wall to wall carpet and has washed all her laundry her house is very clean
Q: How to maintain the carpet?
the carpet is easy to breed the bacteria, so you should pay attention to the virus, and bask it in the sun.
Q: Why would it be hard after cleaning the carpet
Do not rinse the detergent? you don't find a professional carpet cleaning company to clean it, do you?
Q: i put a very hot pot on a carpet
first off , WHY ?? , you need to have some of the same carpet , cut out the bad carpet ( you need to cut it out between the row's ) then do the same with the piece that you are going to put in ( make sure that it's the same size ) then silicone the edges on both pieces and let it dry , next put double face tape down on top of the pad ( if glued down skip this step ) then you need to use seam glue on all edges , next carefully put in the new piece and roll it with a tractor (carpet tool ) then set something heavy on top of it and let it dry over night and roll it with the tractor again.
Q: I really can't find any info on installation online. I have even been at hardware sites and was given a generic explanation. Do you remove your old carpet?
I`m with Wheeza on the first part, however, for actual installation Start on the walls that will be *Seen* first when you enter the room. That way your pieces won`t be as visible esp if the walls are not square and you have a 3 inch piece at one end and 6 inches at the other end (don`t laugh, it happens). You can use Any carpet glue available at Home Depot and as Wheezer says, hardware stores using a notched trowel. Don`t spread too thick `tho or it will smush up through your tiles esp if thin and make a heck of a mess. Just make sure it`s not flammable. My brother and I set fire to a kitchen once not realizing the stuff was flammable. When the fumes hit the water heater it spread over the floor where I was spreading and up the walls (old house with flammable paint/thinner used) quicker than we could blink. Hope this helps. I`m sure it will be pretty (: Need any tips on how to trim it or anything? RT
Q: I have carpet beetles. Will carpet cleaning kill them? If not, what should I do to get rid of them that is pet friendly.
I have had a major problem with black and variated carpet beetles and no matter what I did, they kept coming back! I don't want to buy bug spray because I have a 6 month old boy. Recently I went on a whim and started spraying down the baseboards with colgate pro health mouth wash since someone told me it works for bugs and then I did an experiment. I found a beetle escaping running across the kitchen floor so I sprayed him and he was running, running, running then fell over dead! I decided to add some lavender oil drops to the mix to make it smell nice. Then, I was cleaning the bedroom and I had found a carpet beetle larvae out of its hiding spot so I took it and put it into an empty container and sprayed it with mouth wash and took it out right away on a dry piece of paper and only after a few seconds, it was dead. Try mouth wash. So far it seems to be an effective way of killing them- all life stages. Since the stuff doesnt have alcohol and if you spray the baseboards only, it shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't make a pool of it.
Q: I have never in my life had a fireplace before, so we were lighting the pilot light on a gas fireplace in an apartment we just got the keys to today. Some black soot type stuff got onto the carpet so I (stupidly) proceeded to spray it with carpet cleaner and blot it! It spread everywhere, and now I don't know what to do. What can I use to get ground-in soot out of off white carpet? Thank you!
carpet stains can be removed with a paste of 2 tablespoons white distilled vinegar and 1/4 cup salt or baking soda. Rub into the carpet stain and let dry. Vacuum up the residue the next day. White distilled vinegar is a popular household cleanser, effective for killing most mold, bacteria, and germs, due to its level of acidity.
Q: My carpet has a mystery stain. It's very sticky and black and ground in. I have tried goo gown and soap and water. I need some sort of heavy duty carpet cleaning suggestions.
Hello, Adding soap to the sticky and black ground in mystery stain is just making it worse. You are adding a surfactant (Soap) that gets sticky when it dries. You need to find out if the stain is a oil ( like food dropped ) or sugars like soda pop. First thing you want to do is get rid of the soap residue. If you have a wet dry vac. Get club soda and pour it onto the stick black ground in mystery stain. Use a soft shoe brush and start brushing the stain. If it is turning foamy you have to get DEFOAMER. Spray it on the carpet till you do not get any foam on your brush. (It cuts soap bonds so you can get the soap residue off the carpet). Keep adding club soda. Extract the club soda from the carpet. The black and sticky should start to go away. You should be left with just the original stain, or it should be gone. If you have no foamy residue and it still is sticky you need a solvent because it is an oil based spot. I don't know where you live but if you look in your local yellow pages for Carpet Cleaning Supply stores you can get Defoamer and Solvents to clean the carpets. BE CAREFUL WITH THE SOLVENTS USE AS LITTLE OF THE SOLVENT AS POSSIBLE. IT CAN DELAMINATE THE CARPET IF YOU USE TOO MUCH. (seprate the carpet backing from the fiber) Solvents will desolve glue.
