Soak spot immediately with soda and blot until the stain is gone. 2) Pet Urine on Carpets: Dab area with toweling to absorb as much as possible, wash spot with liquid dish detergent, and rinse with 1/2 cup vinegar diluted in 1 qt warm water. Lay towels or paper towels over the spot and weight down to absorb excess moisture. Let stand 4 to 6 hours, then remove toweling, brush up nap and allow to dry completely. Use an electric fan to speed drying. 3) Red wine stains can be removed from carpet by rubbing baking soda in and vacuuming. 4) Sprinkle cornstarch onto carpet, vacuum. 5) To remove grease spots from carpets, first sop up the liquid with a sponge, then rub a liberal amount of baking soda into the spot. Let it absorb overnight. Next day, remove the excess and vacuum the area. 6) To remove grease spots from carpets, first absorb excess with a sponge, then rub a liberal amount of corn starch into the spot. Let sit overnight, then vacuum. 7) Dry cornstarch sprinkled on rug and vacuumed. 8) Carpet Fresher 4 cups baking soda or cornstarch 35 drops Eucalyptus essential oil 30 drops Lavender essential oil 25 drops Rosewood essential oil or any combination of your favorite essentail oils Measure 4 cups of baking soda into a bowl, add essential oils. Break up any clumps that form, stir until well mixed. Before vacuuming sprinkle powder from a shaker type can or jar. - The bare minimum to keep a horse out all year: 1 x heavy weight winter turnout, with detachable neck. 1 x medium turnout rug, with detachable neck 1 x lightweight turnout, with or without neck 2 x under-rug layer blankets for really cold or in between days. That should be fine, in the deepest darkest winter you can put on your heavyweight with neck and under rugs, when it gets a little warmer you can just put on the heavyweight with no neck, the autumn/early spring you can use the medium, on extra cold nights put on the under rugs, and then when you get to summer you can use your lightweight. Other rugs: Incase your horse ever needs to be stabled, i'd get 1 x medium stable rug. 1 x fly rug/sheet for the summer Also, you might want a cooler fleece that your horse can wear to cool off after exercise etc You can also use a cooler as a travel rug/show rug, or you could buy another one. You may want an exercise sheet, to wear while riding, this will keep your horse warm and dry :) Never put rugs (apart from a cooler) on a sweaty/rained on/wet horse, because he will get a serious chill. If you get in from riding and he's really sweaty/wet, either put the cooler on under the turnout rug, or walk him around for 10 mins till he dries off, and then put on your turnout rugs. If you're on a really tight budget, and you don't ride to compete, and your horse is quite a sturdy, hardy type, you could probably get by with 1 heavyweight and 1 medium turnout, nothing else.

- Depending on what kind of carpet it is (wool, polypropolene etc.) I would take a stiff brush and try to get the dirt out of the carpet. first and then vacuum again. I have a lightweight carpet cleaner. After using a still brush I use the carpet cleaner/vacuum. I put white vinegar and warm water in the resevoir and use that to clean any remaining stains. So far that has worked for everything my cat has done to my rugs. It sometimes takes 2 rounds with the vinegar but that's all I use.
