What was the Berlin wall and the iron curtain?
The Berlin wall was built to separate East and West Germany during the Cold War. The Iron Curtain was the nickname for the Soviet military emplacements preventing supplies and other things from crossing the new border. I suggest looking it up on wikipedia for dates and more info

its not infront of a window, so attaching to the frame is not a solution.i am hanging a family quilt using a curtain rod and these pincher hangers. the curtain rod screws into the walls. it came with little plastic anchors to put the screws in but if i try to put it in the wall crumbles. if i try to just screw it in the wall crumbles. can anyone offer advice. i can put small nails in the walls to hang pictures from but i dont think the rod and quilt would be supported by this.
They sell drywall anchors that mushroom behind the drywall. These will not cause the wall to crumble.
I have very light orange (beigy orange) curtains tailored in traditional style (valence and sheer curtails and drapes with tie backs etc for a huge master bedroom with a cathedral ceiling. The bed rooms huge so I am not worried about it looking smaller when painted with dark colors. However will chochlate brown be too dark? too heavy? I personally LOVE lighter shades on the walls but I made a mistake and I now have to work with these light orange curtains.. so I am stuck! So my question is if I paint two opposite walls chochlate brown and the other warm beige and put these light orange curtains and buy a chochlate/beige (more beige less chochlate) comforter set.. will I be adding myself to the ugly house list?Any other color suggestions???/ Please help!!!
I love orangy shades....especially the peach and pale coral shades. I also really like chocolate colors, like mocha. However, I'm concerned that with curtains that you describe as orange, that chocolate will make it look like a Halloween room. What about having the walls either a vanilla/champagne shade combined with a pale peach sherbet shade. You could use accents of mocha or coffee or cocoa. The curtains will then be pretty if the rest of the room is a bit more muted. You could also accent with either pillows or lampshades or paintings (large ones because your room is big) to hang on the wall.
Im wanting to paint my boyfriends kitchen red. He has a black table and black appliances. The kitchen connnects to the grey living room. I was thinking about black curtains but I dont want the room to feel small and dark. Suggestions?
Off White, not too white should be okay for the curtains. I would add appliances that are grey might work with a red and black kitchen, providing it's okay with your boyfriend. Red and black are bold colors but it can be toned down with off white and grey. Good Luck
I just moved into an apartment and want to add an accent wall to my super-bland room. I have almost no money so everything in the room needs to stay the same except for one wall and a new set of curtains. Im not great at picking coordinating colors, so I was hoping someone could help me out:The walls/ceiling/baseboards are cheapo white, the carpet is a kind of cream/beige, and all of my furniture is black with some chrome and grey. Not sure if it matters, but the room is laid out as follows: North wall (will be getting the accent) has a flat panel and tv stand. West wall has a large window (will be getting curtains), my desk, and a book case. South wall has large double-door closet. East wall has my door, bathroom door, and futon.Ive been playing with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer, but I havent been able to decide on anything. Could I get some advice on accent/curtain colors? Thanks!
Hi Steve-O North Wall I would paint Blue. Benjamin Moore has a couple of great colors. Van Courtland Blue HC - 145 or Philipsburg HC - 159 both colors will match your current decor of carpeting, furnishings, etc. Van Courtland blue is a lighter shade grey blue and Philipsburg is a shade deeper but also a Grey Blue mix. Both of these colors will work visually very well with the more modern look as you have described. Paint always seem to dry a shade darker so keep this in mind when you are making your choice. Window Treatments: Grey or Taupe ( a tan-ish grey ) is a good color for window treatments. Choose a plain fabric slide rod top style panel for the finished look that stays within the guideline of your Modern decor theme. You may want to consider adding a third color by adding accent pillows ( 3 is a good number of pillows ) Placed on the couch of either colors of Red or Orange, or Yellow. This adds just a touch of warmth to your apt.
