- Q:94 f150,302. my pump is still leaking after doin the job twice. its a new pump, the first time i used the red silicone between pump and plate,both sides of gasket,and the housing on the block. leaked. then did it again with high tack gasket cement and still leaks. i cleaned all metal both times with brake clean before installing. same with thermostat housing,small leak. ive done 100s of pumps over the years,no problems, so please no rude remarks on mechanical ability. what could it be? it leaks up front of the motor above the crossmember where ya cant actually see the leak,its not a freeze plug. bolts are torqued. any ideas ? thanks
- Die and tap the bolts and holes you might be getting false torque measurements. take a straight edge to your new pump, It could be fuggered right out of the box.
- Q:i own a 02 gti 337 i bought back in 04 the water is leaking bad and im pretty sure the water pump has gone bad on it i had it replaced awhile back but the check engine came on it isnt this time so i think its just a leak from the seal my question is where is the water pump located is it on the timing belt or is it on a seperate pulley i dont wanna mess with the timing belt and i dont have the money to get this replaced so any help would be great thanks

- i can't b sure 1 replace thermostate 2 same time reverse flush with good chemical,,,entire system 3 you got to realise after 13 yrs original radiator may be gone,,,water pump gone for sure,,,hoses cant last over 6/8 yrs; 4 other things,,,tuned up,,,bad running will heat it up ,,,,50/50 coolant/water...clean and full
- Q:I live in a condo building -- 3 floors, 7 units. In our storage units (right below my unit) is a water pump that was hooked up with the intent of helping the water flow to the 3rd floor. Everytime the pump goes off, it rattles, then makes a loud noise when it kicks off. The developers created a drywall box that houses the pump, which is surrounded by isolation, but it doesn't seem like it helps the noise. The pump also rattles the pipes that connect directly to the pump.My question is -- is this rattling normal for a standard water pump? If so, is there anything I can do to help cut down on the noise? If this is rattling is not normal of the standard water pump, what would it cost to replace it with something decent?
- It sounds like the pump is not large enough for the job. I had a well like that and the dummy who replaced the pump put in a very small one. Even though it was in the ground it was noisy. I'll bet people on the 3rd floor have water pressure issues. Why don't you talk to them and get more info on this. I am assuming you are all under some type of association so you can present all of your info at a meeting.
- Q:I just put a thermostat in my 92 chevy but the gauge still shows close to hot but go down to normal pretty fast and occasionally i her a loud sound coming from the area where the belt is but i can't pinpoint it. I replaced the pump about three years ago, could that be it again so soon?

- Yes But not both sides Apply small dabs a couple of inches apart on the face of the water pump than carefully spread it out try not to get any inside the pump then place the gasket on line up holes the sealer will hold it in place

- its alright to use it with a gasket in a very small amount, but i wouldn't want to use it to make a gasket with,i use it when replacing gaskets and things ,but in very small amounts,the high temperature gasket maker is one of the better ones to use for doing this on a water pump,used in small amounts though you can use the blue just to act as a holder to help keep the gasket in place,but i don't recommend it to make gasket with ,good luck.
