- Q:Okay so we have a water pump outside instead of city water. A few days ago we noticed that it would turn off like always once the tank was full but then just would never turn back on. It was odd to us since it would always turn on and off at appropriate times. Now its on maybe 10 seconds and it shuts off. I took off one of the clear hoses it has and notices a green ooze inside it. I cleaned out the ooze and tapped some of the pipes in hopes of some more of it coming out. Since we have had a leak there is green stuff which i am guessing is lime, on the side of the tank. I'm also guessing this must bee the green ooze. What should I do? Now there is no water whatsoever being pumped and the time it does turn on very little water passes through. To me it sounds like something is blocking the pipes but if I pay hundreds for someone to come replace the pipes and check out the motor I dont want to end up with this problem again. If anyone has any information as to helping me I would so greatly appreciate it.
- do you have shallow or deep well its the middle of summer the well could be dry you might have lost your prime on your pump there will be a bolt for priming take bolt out pour water in to hole untill full restart pump if pump doesnt fill up you might a stuck foot valve.

- Sounds like you have a holding tank problem. Check to see if it is leaking air. Or you could have a busted pipe somewhere, you could cut the water off in the house but not at the pump to see if it continues. If so the problem is at the well, if the problem stops after the tank refills you have a busted pipe between the pump and the house.

- This does not sound good. If it is the water pump, there is a very good chance that you will severely damage the heads and/or block by continuing to drive it. I would not drive it at all, unless you want to risk the expense of a re-built engine (more than $5000 plus installation). If it is the water pump, and not covered under warranty (and I would really get on them about that) less than $1000.

- the pump may have been required before the city up graded their water system. and now it may not be required. but if it were me ? i would replace the pump . Then continue to use the bypass. the reason is , because one day for various reasons the public water pressure could suddenly drop. And then you will and emergency. or at least buy the pump and store it .. So if this ever happens you just need to pay to have it installed. This way you are prepared for what will prob happen someday. but 10 stories ! i am with you . i would think you need a pump to do that.
- Q:and it still runs about every 1/2 hr even if you are not using water. I have no leaks from the pump thought the house so I think the problem is between the house and the well. I can't hear or see any leaks in the elbows in the well. I tried to pull the foot valve up but can't get it out. I replaced the pump cause it was worn out and it was running every 15 min. Do I need to set the pressure on the new one it cuts off at 42 and on at 20 psi and what else could cause it to run when it shouldn't? I know I should call a plumber, but haven't worked in months and can not afford one.
