- Q: So my daughter's car is an 02 Accord manual with about 127k miles. It's making a squeaky noise which apparently is the belts. The dealer says they're too tight, but are in okay condition. They want to change the water pump and adjust the belts for $750. This seems a bit steep to me. Does the water pump need to be changed if it's working properly? How much should it cost to adjust the belts? I'm thinking she should find a more reasonable shop. What are your thoughts?
- Belts can and do squeal. Usually because they are loose and have begun to glaze up. They get a real slick look on the sides. In addition there are several pully bearings that can and do make noise. My suggestion is to find a reputable shop (or two) for another opinion. While you are there, ask what the factory recommended time intervals are for timing belts and water pump on that make and model. At 127k I have to wonder if the timing belt/water pump have already been changed. My last 3 vehicles called for the belt to be changed 80-90k and the pump 100k (if i remember correctly). And as it requires removing all the same parts (on a transverse mounted front wheel drive car like yours) to gain access to either one, shops often recommend doing both to save labor in the near future. As a rule Dealer repair shops charge more, a lot more. Granted they only use factory parts, no used or rebuilt as a rule. The pump is as little as $30 (aftermarket) or more than $200 depending on make and model. If it is located where I think it is you can count on at least 4 and probably 6 hours of labor. However, if like my 2000 Mercury Sable the pump is on the drivers side, in plain view it would only take 1.5-2 hours to replace.
- Q: I live in a house that uses a pump to push water from a tank to the bathroom and kitchen. It has a sensor that detects if water is flowing and pushes it much harder. Recently, it has been pushing the water for a second or less then it completely stops for a while. It's like a pulse of water then nothing. Can anyone give me feedback on what is wrong here? Thank you.
- from okorder :Self-priming pump working principle is: the pump before you start in the pump shell filled with water (or) from the water in the pump housing.Start after high-speed rotating impeller flow to the vortex in the impeller, shell, then the entry form the vacuum, the inlet non-return door open, within the air into the pump suction tube and the impeller, to arrive at the outer edge.Self-priming pump is a self-priming centrifugal pump, it has compact structure, convenient operation, stable operation, easy maintenance, high efficiency, long service life, and have strong self-priming capacity, etc.Line does not need to install the bottom valve, only to ensure storage in pump body before work are quantitative liquid.Pump after the normal starting, impeller liquid of suction chamber and inlet line of air suction, and can completely mixed within the impeller, the function of centrifugal force, and liquid with gas to the vortex flow volume outside edge, the impeller has a certain thickness is formed on the outer edge of the white foam belt and high-speed rotating liquid ring.Gas-liquid mixture into the gas-liquid separation chamber through diffusion tube.At this time, due to the flow rate suddenly drops, lighter gas is separated from the mixture of liquid and gas through the pump body spit continues to rise. After degassing of liquid to liquid storage chamber, and the reflux hole again into the impeller, and impeller with inhalation of gases from the inlet line again mix, flow under the action of the high-speed rotating impeller and the impeller outer edge....As the process cycle, decreasing the air in the suction line, until all gas absorption, complete the self-priming process, pump put into normal operation. What you said phenomenon should be pipeline leak, which leads to the self-priming pump process is repeated.
- Q: If the water pump does not get water to pump, will it be burnt out? If so, then can it be fixed? And if it doesnt get water to pump, what exactly happens to it?
- Anything can be fixed. The question is: is it cheaper to repair or replace the water pump? Keep in mind that water through a pump cools it. Without this water, the pump will overheat and eventually fail.
- Q: i have the power max xp652 water pump, 2 inch inlet and outlet, 6.5 horsepower, and says it can reach 100 psi. now i bought the pump so i can use it for my mobile detailing business, the problem is im barely getting 40 psi out the end and its not very much water to wash a car with. Im using a two inch suction hose to get it in, then right after the outlet i reduced it down to 3/4 inch into a 50 ft. garden hose. this only got me 40 psi and the nozzle was basically just spitting it out, so i tried using 50 ft. of 1/4 inch pressure washer hose and it didnt change anything still 40 psi. so please if there is any way i can up the psi, please tell me any ideas are good. i dont know if its just because i reduced it down too quick or if my suction hose is too big. someone who is into hydraulics please help.
- Larger diameter inlet and hose pipes will help reduce the dynamic resistance during spraying.. But it is not clear how you are measuring the pressure. If the nozzle is off and you are measuring 40 lbs of pressure then that is all the pump is producing. This could be that the pump cannot provide the pump cannot pump to that pressure, or that the pressure release valve is set too low. Somewhere there is a valve that lets excessive pressure escape. That is usually very near the pump and it may release the pressure back into the reservoir - so you cannot rely on water spilling out someplace.
- Q: as i asked before in my question what needs to be fixed when a water pump goes bad. so finally it went bad today the car leaked all coolant and for some reason all the blades on the fan broke and the battery light came on. which is connected to the alternator belt so thats not the problem. so now does anybody have any idea how much it would cost to fix and by what i know it needs a new belt for water pump and new fan and water pump etc. taking it to mechanic monday but wanna get an estimate first from u people. any ideass thanks

- Q: 1988 fleet wood prowler 22HJust bought it, first time camper owner. I need a battery and a water pump. I only want to buy one, but don't want an overpriced pump. Preferably one I could find at a chain store locally. Can anyone recommend a good one? Also, is there anything I should know before I take my camper to a rv hook up site? I have a pressure regulator that will twist on my spicket on the outside of my camper. Do I need any other kind of regulator, or hose, besides my pump before I go hook up?Can I hookup without a pump? The pipe is capped off where the pump would go. Thanks!
- If you are connected to a campsite water supply you do not need a pump. The pump is only required to deliver water from the fresh water tank of your camper to the faucets and if equipped toilet of your camper when you are not connected to City water, ya I know I have probably been connected to an actual City water supply 4 days in over 10 years of trailer camping... but any campground water supply is referred to as a city supply in the trailer literature. The only accessory I recommend to have is a combination filter which will stop both sediment ( very common in campground water lines ) and secondary charcoal filter which will reduce both taste and chemical intrusions on your system / palate. Would I buy a basic system demand pump? Yes, but if the cost of the pump stands between your camping season and your camping plans for the season, cancel the pump and camp!
- Q: I just bought a house a little more then a month ago and just received my first electric bill and it's OUTRAGEOUS!! I have a feeling my electric pump is doing most of my water heating which I found out it is (currently it's on 24 hours a day .. I didn't know). Now, I called a solar company in my area that deals with Hartell pumps, they said if the Hartell pump is working, it should be vibrating .. mines is not .. are they correct? They also said it only works when the sun is out, so by evening, I have to switch on my electric water heater. I'm just checking to see if I'm receiving the correct information before I time my electric water heater .. since every other local solar company I called are unfamiliar with Hartell pumps.
- OK, well your question is a bit confusing and I am not sure if it is because you don't understand how your system works. Your hartell pump pumps water. It does not produce heat. Your water heater heats water. It is a backup to your solar panel system. If on the other hand you have a heat pump as a back up source of heat this could be an entirely different matter and you are best at providing a model number which should be stamped on the part. We need to start again. Is your system for solar hot water or for general heating? Is it a system in a cold climate where freezing is an issue. Is it a pump down system or a system that circulates antifreeze in the solar loop. The reason all this is significant is that if you are paying a lot in electricity then something is not working. The first question has to be is it a design problem, a mechanical problem or an operational problem. You may need more hot water storage or more solar panels, you may need to replace parts, or you may simply need to turn the right valves (This would be the case where you have a grounding loop to keep the solar panels from overheating in the summer.)
