- Q: I have a well water pump and the motor seems to just run but won't transfer water through the line, checked for leakage, etc but no signs. Even tried priming it but it does nothing. Any idea of what could be wrong or how to repair this problem?
- If the captive air tank has failed you should still get some water flow. if you are not getting any flow and the pump is spinning then the pump may need to be replaced. There is also a pressure switch that may have failed but if that were the case you would have got flow unless the pump burned up. so, bottom line is this. 1) turn power off. let a tiny bit of air out of the Schroeder valve on the captive air tank. if water comes out, the tank is bad. make sure to fill the tank up to about 40psi. 2)turn power off. remove the cover of the pressure switch and clean with compressed air. move the switch back and forth. sand the contacts with emory cloth. 3) if the tank was good turn the power back on and make sure all the valves are open (even the ones you havent touched) if you are still not getting water you should probably call a plumber. most likely at this point you have a bad switch or tank and it has caused your pump to burn up. good luck
- Q: I think my water pump is going bad but figure id ask everyone to see what they thought. I leak coolant like the first 20 min i drive my truck and then it will seal itself up for the next day or two then start leaking again. It is getting leaked all over the belt and the fan is spraying it all around so you cant tell where exactly its coming from but i checked all the hoses and they are good and im pretty sure its not the radiator. Also, when it is leaking there is a loud whining noise when my trucks on and i heard that can be from the pump too.

- Q: I'm building a 79 SBC (old style) 350 and have a new stock water pump...what hose and where does it go from the top of the water pump to wherever? Heater hose? Or can I just leave it plugged. No A/C I just need a heater/defroster, etc...
- The hose runs from the pump to the heater core on the pass side firewall. There should be a hose that comes back out and connects to the top of the intake manifold to return the coolant back to the engine also.
- Q: how to replace water pump 97 pontiac bonneville?

- Q: How does a pump get water from a low low elevation to a higher elevation.
- The simplest form of water pump is a plastic spiral where the outermost spiral dips under the water and out as it rotates. The spiral can be driven by attached paddles if the water is flowing. As the water progresses down smaller spirals the pressure increases. The water exits through a rotating coupling at the centre of the spiral. A single stage pump can only raise water 15 feet (1 atmosphere) A windmill is a good example of a simple pump where a lever moves up and down, A valve closes at the bottom of a tube on the up stroke and raises the water by the length of the stroke. This water opens a second valve near the top of the tube as soon as the upstroke starts and the water is pushed up. This pump does not work by creating a vacuum. On the downstroke the upper valve closes due to the raised water pushing on it, and also due to its own weight, and the lower valve opens from the water below pushing on it as the cylinder descends. At the end of the downstroke the valve closes under its own weight and the weight of the water above it and the cycle repeats To raise water higher than 15 feet using a windmill, it is necessary to install a small tank at, say 14 feet, with a second lower and upper valve in a tube. The first stage pump fills the tank which the second stage pump then lifts another 15 feet, This process can be repeated until the water reaches the surface, but a bigger windmill will be needed to power multiple pumps
- Q: All of a sudden I have no water coming to the house/anywhere from the pump/well outside. It's a newer well, good water quantity (Florida...no dry up problems), no sand in water. I'm new to this house and don't know much about the pump stuff. Is there something I should look at or switch on/off. The breaker is ok. Help, I need a shower! :) Oh, there were about 15 ants around some box, but it didn't look connected to the pump...it's a box to the pool filter thing.
- And last but not least, is the submerged pump. This pump actually is down inside the well casing. Usually towards the bottom of the casing. If you have to pull it, it involves disconnecting the electrical and plumbing lines, and literally, pulling it up by the chain or pipe. It could be a few hundred feet down. If it comes to this, I'd suggest calling in a plumber or well technician. If you dont like the idea of running down this whole list, then call a plumber, or well technician, and let them chase it down. Good Luck
- Q: I got my oil changed yesterday and took like a 3 hour drive and back home and had no issues.. today I was at my work visiting and I noticed smoke coming from the engine [sort of more of steam] and a lot of smoke coming from the exhaust. The light on the gauge inside the car for the engine temp isn't working but all the other ones are. A mechanic told me it was a bad water pump, but I just want some more opinions. Or if the oil change could of effected that.. My engine coolant wasn't that low but a greenish liquid was really leaking from underneath the car.
- water pump ,hoses or freezeout plugs, cracked block
- Q: And my heater works 80 % of the time, Is it still ok to drive if I keep putting water in it?
- most water pumps have a weep hole in the bottom of the pump when the seal goes its because the bearing is going bad. As long as the bearing keeps going you have a chance the problem is if the bearing freezes up it just goes BANG ! AND BLOWS ITSELF OFF THE CAR DAMAGING WHATEVER IT HITS ON THE WAY OUT. better safe than sorry a water pump is not that expensive compared to the damage it can cause if the fan locks and shatters too.
- Q: Okay, the fan has the clutch unit on the front with the large nut attaching it to the water pump. Then 4 screws attach the pulley to the water pump as well. What's the best way to immobilize pulley/pump so I can get the fan blade clutch nut unscrewed? Can't hold onto the fan or clutch unit since it simply spins. Can't realy seem to hold onto the pulley either as it prefers to spin? Any suggested best ways?
- First remember this tighten is loosen and loosen it tighten with the big nut on the fan clutch. And there is a tool you can buy (BMP design and Bavarian autosport have them) but I never bought one because I only could have used it once, and I try to keep my tool box as empty as I can. All this with the belt on..Get the biggest screwdriver you have and a heavy hammer. Now put the screwdriver on the tighten side one of the flat sides edge. Take hammer and give it a big wack. As long as the last guy put the fan clutch on right it should take no more than 2 tries to loosen it. Once its loose just spin it off by the fan blades and pull it out. I only once had to use a sawsall (only time I could have used the tool)on both the water pump and fan clutch to do a water pump job and after inspection I found some moron used lock tight. When you reinstall just spin it on and that's it no need to tighten.. I like to put antiseize on the bolt threads so I know the next time I have to remove the fan it will come off like buttahr...
- Q: When the pump is connected in parallel, will the head and flow change?
- 2 pumps parallel, lift the same, pump head is not stacked?;Answer: the head can not be superimposed, that is, a lift and a pump, but the pumping speed (flow) is two times a taiwan.2 pumps in series, the same flow, pump head is not stacked?.Answer: the head can be superimposed, that is, the pump head is two times as much as a pump, but the pump speed is the same as that of a pump.A pump is a machine that transports liquids or pumps liquids. It will be the prime mover of the mechanical energy or other external energy transfer to the liquid, the liquid energy increase, mainly used to transport liquids including water, oil, alkali liquid, emulsion, suspension emulsion and liquid metal, but also transport liquid, gas mixtures and liquids containing suspended solids. Pump performance of technical parameters are flow, suction, lift, shaft power, water power, efficiency, etc.; according to the different principles of work can be divided into volume pumps, vane pumps and other types. Displacement pump is to use its studio volume changes to transfer energy; vane pump is to use the rotating blade and water interaction to transfer energy, there are centrifugal pumps, axial flow pumps and mixed flow pumps and other types.
