Q: okay i just put a new camshaft in my truck and before my water pump seemed to work but it leaked a little bit but my truck never got hot well i drove it a little bit after puting in the new camshaft and the top radiator hose and heater hose was warm but the bottom radiator hose was cold so i think my water pump went out but not to sure thanks to any answers: when your water pump goes out, either it will leak from the weep holes which are the holes drilled in the pump by the manufacturer or around the pulley. If that is happening then its your pump. The other thing to check would be your thermostat, check this by turning your truck on and leaving the lid of the radiator. check the temperature of the water in the radiator with your finger if it warms up in ten minutes then its not your thermostat, if the water level goes down ( like lack of water) then its the pump.

Q: mercury 9.8hp.installed a new water pump impeller and still no water circulating through engine. no blockage anywhere. now what??? i`m stumped at this point.: I have seen this many times on 9.87.5Merc'sThere is a plastic o-ring under the power head and it is probablly melted closed.There is a way to fix it without removing the powerhead.Remove the lower unit and pull out the water pickup tube.Then use a piece of brake line 5/16th sharpen on a 45 degree angle and push up the opening for the water pickup to open the passage.This will fix your water problem.

Q: OK i was driving and i noticed the gas pedal wouldn't really work and people were telling me to move so right away i moved to the side of the road and got my car towed home. a couple details are that there was smoke coming out of the hood, don't know what part of the engine though.there was not much water in the water pump. my dad thinks that the problem was it was leaking the water.the car turns on ac works it just shakes when it turn on the motor no condition to drive it obviously but it does take a little time to start the engine. i want to know if anyone knows what may be the problem and about how much it may cost.ohh btw this car model is a 1999 Chrysler Sebring Convertible 2 door.thank you!: As soon as you look at the weep-hole on the bottom of the water-pump casting you will know if it has been leaking. Meanwhile keep the radiator filled to the top when the engine is stone cold and fill the plastic coolant recovery bottle 3/4 full. ** When you replace the radiator pressure cap turn it clockwise on click instead of two. This will lower the peressure in the cooling system so it won't leak as fast.

Q: My mechanic said I have a very small coolant leak and that in the future I might need to replace it.He said I should keep an eye on my coolant level.Anyone like to comment on how how a quot;small leakmight develop into a quot;major leakthat needs to be urgently addressed?He also said that to replace my water pump, he would charge $400. Is this expensive?(I have a 1996 VW Jetta): the water pump has a small weep hole on the bottom where it will leak small traces of coolant/water. this is an indicator that the seal inside the pump is going bad. it can go from a small leak to leaking like a cow pissing on a flat rock at anytime. if this happens the motor will overheat and you might find yourself stuck on the side of the road. the estimate sound reasonable and does it include the tax and everything?

Q: i want to change the water pump on my on a 70 hp (70C) nissan outboard motor and i never pulled a lower unit, not sure what to expect thanks for any help: I agree with the above post .Get a manual for the motor usualy at any marine shop or west marine is were i found mine at.Basically consists of draining the lower engine lube, taking out the bolts (is where the manuel really comes in handy.)Then removing the lower unit, when you get the impeller our book didnt tell us this ,ut the impeller will be of a larger diameter than the housing, if you take dish soap and apply it to the fins then you can help force it in there , just make sure once it is in ,hat all the fins are being roatated to the same way, either all facing left or all facing right.The hardest part is just reinstalling and aligning the lower unit shaft back up.Then bolt everything back up and refill the unit with lower unit with engine lube untill it over flows from a hole, agian your book will tell you where to fill it in at and what to look for.Good luck
