Q:I have a leak and all the hoses are fine but I am not sure were the water pump is also has anyone had this repaired and what did it cost (part plus labor) in general is it hard to get to? Thanks in advance: The Chrysler Concorde came with either a 3.3 or 3.5 litre V6 engine that year. On both of these engines, the water pump is driven by the backside of the timing belt. The pump is buried deep in the front of the engine, and is one of the hardest to change of all the cars I've ever worked on. If the hoses seem to be ok, you can have a pressure test run on the cooling system to find the exact source of the leak. Most garages will do this for minimal cost, and this way you can get an estimate to repair exactly what's wrong, instead of wasting time and money on unnecessary repairs. If it does turn out to be the W/P, make sure they include a new timing belt in the estimate. It has to come off anyways, and any coolant on the belt will severely shorten it's life span.. just a little cheap insurance. As for cost; labor rates vary wildly from shop to shop, so I can't give you a precise number, but I will tell you this: Once you know what it needs, call a few reputable repair garages. They know you're looking to deal, and will often low-ball estimates over the phone to get your business, even if it means reducing the labor rate, and/ or the markup on parts. They still make money on the job, and you save.

Q:I posted this earlier but nobody really answered my question . if my water pump is clearly on the serpentine belt I t need to replace the timing chain to get to it correct? The bolts holding the pump in are around it near the timing chain cover but they don't look like they are inside it. the pump is clearly driven by the serpentine so should I be fine not removing my timing belt to fix the pump? its leaking. Also I know you should replace the timing chain+tensioner but I inspected the chain 400 miles ago its properly tensioned the belt is in good condition its a chain it will last the life of the car its not the cheap belts.: If you can change the pump without removing the timing belt then go for it, you are lucky. I don't replace the tensioner unless it needs to be replaced, usually they last a long time. I replace the timing belts every 60,000 miles, but usually you can go to 80,000 maximum but I don't like to take it to the last minute, not safe.

Q:I have a leak coming from the water pump that flows down on the side of the AC compressor before landing on the ground. I cannot verify exactly where the leak is coming from on the pump, but I am sure it is the pump leaking because it also sounds bad like rattling. My question is do I have to remove any other components, such as the AC compressor to be able to remove the water pump. Q:93 Cutless Sierra FWD: It's a major job involving the belt tensioner and quite a few other hard to get at parts as the water pump is buried against the side of the engine compartment. But if you want to try it borrow from the library or buy a Chilton's or any popular service manual and follow the directions (STEP BY STEP),good luck

Help :#92;thank you!: Debris is probably blocking the impeller ,a wheel that spins inside the pump,and moves the water through,you might have to take it in for servicing to a repair shop,if you aren't mechanically inclined to do it yourself.leaf litter,or a twig can get inside the intake port and wedge itself in the wheel,and keep it from working ,try backflushing the pump,forcing water the opposite direction through,and see if this dislodges the blockage first,then if no luck,you'll have to dismantle it to get the blockage out Make sure you handle the pump carefully.if all else fails,you could try whacking it with a hammer,and see if that jolts it free.It is pretty old now,and may be just time to get a new one,10 years is a good life span for one of these pumps.
