- Q: I have read Wikipedia as to why Diesel Fuel can cost so much so please don't send me any links. Just want your opinion or 1st hand knowledge. My understanding is that Diesel is supposed to be the lowest cost fuel to make. but it costs the most. Why???
- Yeah, I think since it is in higher demand, the cost goes up. It's my understanding that diesel is easier to make than gasoline. Back in the 70's it was cheaper than gasoline. But since a lot of vehicles use diesel, the cost goes up because the market will support it. Still, gallon for gallon, diesel gives better milage. But it stinks.
- Q: Hi GuysOkay i have been given the task of fitting a 240v generator to an RV in to one of it's closet spaces. It needs to power one 240v socket, charge the RV battery (standard battery on trickle charge) and power the shower which doesn't have a boiler as such it heats the water on a 'as and when' basis. Low wattage lighting also two 40W lightsThere is plenty of space. so I thought how about try and fit a generator than runs on renewable energy.I just need to know what direction I should be looking in. HydrogenSolar (Doubt it)Bio-FuelAnything else? Also, is it best to convert an existing design of generator, buy a new one or build one from scratch to fit?Any help would be truly awesomePeace
- Electric heating of your hot water is very inefficient since you have so much heat rejected in the exhaust for every KWHr you make. Your best bet would be to use the exhaust heat and/or jacket cooling water from a biofueled generator to heat the hot water tank. You get very high efficiencies from that combination. I have seen such devices talked about (see the link below) for years, but have recently seen one that is actively under development. It may be a bit oversized for your RV, however, since it is for a house. You may be able to just add a heat exchanger on the exhaust and use a small, thermostatically controlled pump to circulate the hot water from the tank through the tubes. Biofuels are not as available as gasoline, but if you research where you are going, you may find they are more prevalent than you think. Also, the generator will be able to run on fossil fuels as well, giving you a back up in case you can't find biofuel. Hydrogen is interesting, but I can't think a commercially available generator that runs on it. And you would still have the efficiency issue unless you recovered the exhaust heat like I have said for the biofuel. I can't think that solar would work well, you have such a limited amount of collection surface on the roof, and lugging around batteries and/or hot water is also inefficient. I have been on trips where it was cold and cloudy for a week, solar would not do well under those circumstances.
- Q: for a diesel generator of about 113 HP. What is the typical exhaust temperature?
- i ve worked on a 440kw engine as a general rule the exhaust temperatures are never let to go in excess of 400 degrees. normal exhaust temperature at 300 kw was 350 deg celsius.
- Q: I really need to know to know this.@ two days old. my baby was subjected to a high level of diesel fumes coming in from the hospital vents. Due to testing of generators and backed up through vent. she was in the room roughly 30 minutes what kinda damage should I be concerned about. should I be concerned? how long would it stay in lungs and the blood? please if you know.thanks
- After exposure to diesel gas fumes, if not, taken for treatment of oxygen inhalation in an incubator,0r oxygen tent -----the effect will be fatal ---byway of mucus collection and respiratory interference of gaseous exchange leading to fatality because of brain damage, for a continued exposure for more than 30minutes ---please read ---diesel-byproduct-result-in-brain damege
- Q: If you send me a link to where the lyrics to Corey Feldman's song former child star I will give you the ten points. I kind of looked for it but I dont really have the chance right now so if you find a valid link or know the lyrics please mark it down for me, thanks! By the way I am pretty sure the song is called Former Child Star but I might be off, it was supposed to be about MJ I guess and I am curious about what it says, thanks!
- kc - Here is what I found: Green is the Colour We made history at Universal CityWalk (Universal Studios Hollywood). For the first time ever, a CityWalk concert was Off the Grid! A bio-diesel generator was graciously supplied by @POWER to provide us with alternative energy to power the lights and the sound required. Thank you to Universal CityWalk, @POWER, Green Team, Team Feldman and all of the fans who made it a very special event. Truth Movement dedicated the show to the 'King of Pop' Mr. Michael Jackson. coreyfeldman /index2.html
- Q: I know about solar panels and wind turbines but either will have to be above ground. Petrol or diesel generators are to loud and fuel isn't cheap these days.
- Nuclear reactor power plant. Stationary exercycles. Water wheel in underground river. Steam boiler fired by coal or natural gas. Fuel cell.
- Q: Generators used for electricity
- you need to figure out the electrical demand required. 746 watts 1 horsepower with no losses.
- Q: Electrical Engeenearing
- A diesel power plant is a stationary installation incorporating one or more diesel generator sets with controls and switchgear. Diesel plants are usually used as emergency backup systems for military installations, hospitals, and other vital installations that depend on reliable electric power. There are also diesel power plants that are the only power supply for remotely located installations and communities; for example, remote radar stations and island resort towns. In a diesel plant, there are one or more diesel generator sets, consisting of a diesel engine and a suitable generator. A typical arrangement would involve three generators of which any two can handle the peak load while the third can be held as a standby unit or dismantled for major maintenance at intervals. There will be a switchyard that contains the electrical contactors and safety devices for connecting the generators to the grid as needed, and there will be control panels for the individual generators, as well as synchronizing gear to keep the generators in phase. In many installations these controls are computerized and can be operated and monitored at a distance over the internet or other communications arrangement. Also, there will be arrangements for handling the fuel required by the engines. Often there is a large tank and separate day tanks for each engine. This type of arrangement helps ensure that the entire supply is not lost in case the fuel plumbing or day tank for one generator set springs a leak.
- Q: I am looking into using solar energy and generators for commercial use. Using the solar energy during the day is a piece of cake obviously. But I would need a backup generator for night-time use. If I were to get a commercial grade backup generator, could I essentially recharge it during the day while it is not in use? Any other suggestions that this route are welcome. Maybe even a backup storage (battery) for the the excess solar energy. Something to store the unused energy?
- well, thats will need very big battery capacity and also inverter ofcourse
- Q: I want to be able to plug my APC Smart-UPS RT 8000VA 208V into a diesel generator when our power will be down for an extended period of time. The max OUTPUT of the APC unit is 6400w. Does that mean I need at least a 6400w Generator?
- If the unit is rated 8000 VA, and the output is 6400 W. that hints that the through-put efficiency is about 80%. You need a generator that will supply at least 125% of the load you apply to the UPS.
