Q: I get conflicting opinions from mechanics about extended shut-down.I am parked for 3 months and driving is not an option. Should I re-start my diesel engine weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or just wait the 3 months and re-start then? If so, should I just restart as normal?I do know when I re-start, I must wait until normal temperture is reached prior to shut down, this could take 20 minutes or longer with the rear mounted engine. The radiator covered from the outside will not warm-up as fast as a front mounted engine. Covering this radiator from the inside is not an option due to a shroud covering the fan.: if you are going to leave it sitting they can sit for more than a year and it will still run fine but the only question is the battery they can not stay fully charged so if not using then disconnect the positive side to the battery and when you want to use it just reconnect it this is the way i do to preserve the battery and for added protection add stabil (fuel stabilizer) to diesel if it is going to sit through the winter Edit : a battery charger is a good idea My parent's RV has a solar panel which keeps the battery fully charged but does not use the RV much 1 to 2 times a year had a stabil in it so far no problems but the generator is problematic cause it runs on gas so I had to start it every month to make sure there is no problems with it(run it for 1/2 hour) gas deteriorates faster than diesel even if it has stabil

Q: I am wondering did water go over these reactors, and if they did is that what caused the problems, and if not, what in fact really happened?Could the devastation have been worse if water washed over it?: The Tsunami washed INTO the Reactors. -Short circuiting the Power supply much of the Instrumentation that runs Them. Q: I know that various types of locomotive's produce different amount of horse power. Here's the question: A single locomotive (any type) about what would be the average speed it could gain in 0 to 4 seconds on take off. Any smart A** answer will be reported for abuse, Thank you.: The two moves that Hoghead described are better known to me as the Dutch Drop and the Flying Switch. Letting a car roll like that without a locomotive attached to it is pretty sketchy, and in order for the move to work, you have to bottle the air. That's REALLY sketchy, but it's been done many, many times. Locomotives are totally capable of accelerating like that, but they'll definitely scream while they're doing it. As a general rule, you just don't want to accelerate quickly with a train. The slack needs to come out gently and what not. If the slack is tight, though, I've seen some crews open it right up. A pair of GP39-2's must have hit 20 miles an hour in just a few hundred feet. I was really impressed by that one. I've found, though, that if you don't let the units load at their own pace, you just end up spinning the wheels or screwing something else up. You can also run into problems with the motors' transitions if you throttle up too fast. Not fun!

Way in the past, of course back then it was necessary to check the gap. With such a small engine 1/16 is plenty.

I have a natural gas line, and gas furnace, so I only use about 1500 watts at peak times, so I figure a 3k watt generator will more than cover my needs.SOUND is a huge factor. I have the worst neighbors in the world and I really need something quiet. I'm looking for something with less than 60 ddb.I have seen a lot of propane generators that look good, but I dont know if they can be used with natural gas easily. I think so, but would love to hear if thats true, and they dont have the standby plug feature, which I need to save my fish tank, any know if this can be easily changed by a skilled electrician?Thank you. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.: I've seen ones running propane, gas and diesel. The larger units for the power you want normally come in their own enclosure helping to keep noise under control. I've not see one designed for natural gas. No propane ones are not designed for natural gas. The engines have to be designed to handle it so you would need to converse with a place selling these to find out if such are available. If not contact the mfrs for information as to this conversion idea. The enhance quiet you can also build an enclosure around the generator which would limit sound travel from the unit.

Q: A concert is in the works to raise money to help save the Everglades in Florida. I am looking to get as many people interested in the cause as possible.
