- Q: I Have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard with the chipset fan going at over 6000 RPM, an AMD Athlon 64 4000+ with the CPU fan at about 3000 RPM, and a GeForce 6200LE with a very high pitched fan that's dead annoying. To cut a long story short, my PC makes way more noise than it should be, now I don't have any case fans installed but that shouldn't mean that it has to make this sort of howling, believe me, if you were sitting next to it, you'd understand where I'm comin from, it's like tryin to sleep at night with a diesel generator in your room while it's downloading stuff. The fans shouldn't need to spin that fast as the average temp is about 30-40 degrees Celsius across all the components. Anyone know what I should try? Cheers Sam The Bam
- I had this problem, and one day, my computer just stopped. in fact, its sitting in the chair behind me. but it ended up being the CPU fan, put some thermal paste between it and your motherboard. Check your local Best Buy or Office Depot. but whatever you do, DO NOT TRY TO UNPLUG THE FAN! i did and my computer caught on fire (its not funny :[ ). And as a matter of fact, i can sleep with a diesel genereator beside me fine, im used to the noise, i sleep with a fan. ffs.
- Q: For anyone well up on EMD E and F units: saw a rather frightful picture last night of an F unit slamming into a switcher. not pretty ofcourse. it was on a curve so the F unit fell to her side to the outside of the curve. but not before breaking in half right behind the cab. the picture caption remarked that this was a common feature of the Es and Fs. - I seem to recall a reference in Trains stating that these were designed to buckle right behind the cab in order to protect the crew in cases of head-on collisions. Apparently, the buckling was intended to absorb energy that otherwise might crush the cab. I can see how the buckling might appear to be a design flaw in the form of a weakness in the frame that allows the buckling. But my understanding is that it was an intentional design feature, kind of like how a fuse is the weakest link for the purpose of protecting the rest of the circuit.

This family uses 2.052kWh of electricity every day. The problem i have run into is that i don't know how to determine how long tha tank can last with only those values, i have a feeling im missing something very obvious here. - Yup, you missed the obvious. It is not important how big the tank is, simply that when you have used the whole tank you have produced a total of 20kW/hours of electricity for consumption. So as shown by the first person to answer, the tank will last for around 9.5 days. (Assuming the family's consumption is consistent throughout the day.)

- it is a meter, more than likely electronic digital but ive seen mechanical ones also, that is attached to the generator that tells you how many hours it has been running or in your case at how many hours you have to add more diesel
- Q: I'm after a small generator (no more than 2kw)I'd like the tank to last at least 3 hours on one fill and if it were diesel and silent that would be even better.If it could also have a built in inverter (for home use) that would also be good. It's for UK power so a 3pin socket would be preferable and 230v power is a must.
- Edit , never mind my previous answer , you want a D fuel gen for emergency household power Which means you will rarely use it . then by all means spend the extra $2000 to save $20 on the fuel. take care ;)

- You want to connect a 4 kw load to a 6 kw generator. As long as the 6 kw (6,000 watts) rating of the generator is accurate it should power the lamps fine. You're only using 66% of the generator capacity. There aren't any significant losses to worry about and no point in doing any calculations. They were done for you in the kw rating of the generator. Just don't use any extension cords that are too small for the lights.
