- Q: Motorcycle cornering mindset. Given a clean, dry road and good tires--can I lean over till something scrapes without undue fear of ending up a mass of twisted metal? Of, have I watched too many road races on TV?
- I wouldn't suggest you lean too much if you don't know what your doing. Corners usually mean you can't see what's around the bend, so the faster you go the more you lean over then the more chance of coming off. And there is no such thing as a clean dry road unless your on the race track
- Q: I am wanting to change from a motorcycle tire ontherear of my 1100 honda to an auto tire, which size is needed?
- we used to run car tires on the back of Harleys all the time WITH NO PROBLEMS to all the idiots who dont think so! However in this day and age you can find motorcycle tires all the way up to a 350 so car tires are not needed. I dont know your rim size or standard tire size would need to know that to figure the largest tire your rim will accept.
- Q: I heard this from an old school mechanic. Is this a myth or a great tip?I know absolutely it wouldn't affect the tires performance if you put looped noddle in the tubeless tire when you mount it but how would it affect incase you get a flat would it help it to keep it on the wheel for a while or would it make it worse? Please mention your experience on your answer. thanks
- I don't have any personal experience with this however I'm thinking through it and: Depending on how heavy your bike is I can't see how a foam noodle would even stand up to the weight. It'd compress flat. Personally sounds like a Shade Tree Mechanic myth to me. I'd put money into a really nice set of self-sealing tires before I'd bet the store on piece of foam swimming noodle.
- Q: Does anyone know what kind of motorcycles have those big fat back tires it‘s kind of like a sports motorcycle.kinda like the one that batman hasjust without the extra features like shotting bullets and flying on it???
- Ducati, and custom hogs can fit very fat rear tires.
- Q: I have mild dry-rot on the sidewalls (NOT the tread) of my motorcycle tires. It is not to the point where the tires are losing pressure (I‘ve checked them daily for the last month)But I am wondering if there is anything I can put on the tires to prevent the cracks from getting larger or, better yet, fill the existing cracks permanently (IE rubber cement perhaps)? I am also wondering what the chance of blow-out is for a tire not losing any air pressure.
- Dry rot is one of, if not THE, most dangerous issues with m/c maintenance. There is no repair, only replacement. As one of the others wrote above, winter storage is the main culprit in dry rot. If possible, put a strip of carpet under the bike, or at least the tires, when storing for the winter or find a heated garage. If you choose to use a treatment such as Armor-All, be extremely careful not to get it on the tread section of the the tires. It is VERY slippery stuff. Or use another treatment specifically made for tires.
- Q: What will happen if a motorcycle is on the freeway and its front tire blows out?
- For the best answers, search on this site shorturl.im/WXvbG Karst topography is a landscape created by groundwater dissolving sedimentary rock such as limestone.
- Q: I have an aunt that is about 54 and she rides a motorcycle to work up in the cities. She said that she almost got hit by a semi when she drove it 4 hours south to visit us. She drove it in the winter in the snow and cold. She is a little crazy. It is baby blue with white tires. It is so pathetic. What do you think?
- The triumph street triple is mmmmgreater
- Q: Motorcycle tires to play a few air pressure
- General motorcycle repair shop electric inflatable opportunity fixed at about 3 kg pressure, you inflate the air flow to disappear on behalf of the tire and inflatable air pressure on the same (air does not flow).
- Q: I have a 2003 Nighthawk 750 and have gone through 3 rear tires in the 2 years I have owned it. I have put over 30,000 miles, 90% commutting. I was looking into how you can get my miles on a car tire. I‘ve read the controversies, reviews, and etc. I am not looking for a discussion rather an answer to which tire would fit my bike. The rear tire is a 140/70-17. So, would that traslate to a 140/70/17 in a car tire? I wouldn‘t think so, but I‘m not sure. Thanks for your help!!
- Even if there was a comparable sized car tire, I definitely wouldn't do it. Car tires are made with deeper beads where the tire meets the rim. Put a car tire on a bike rim and you have exposed bead that has no support from from the wheel. Flex the tire much and you could loose the seal between tire and wheel, causing it to deflate in a big, crash causing hurry. My experience has been that the most expensive tires I've ever had were the least expensive ones top buy initially. They're not cheap, but if you want good mileage, buy a Dunlop Elite 3. I have one on the back of my Kawasaki Voyager XIII, a 960 lb touring behemoth. Without rider, the weight on my rear tire probably equals the weight of your entire bike. My tire is an ordinary bias tire and I have over 20,000 miles on it and it still has tread. On your bike, I bet an Elite 3 would last 30,000+ miles.
