Q: I am contemplating on getting a full house generator and need some feedback from you all.l. What is the best brand for quality and durability of a generator and what hp would I needThe house is about 2,000/sq ft, central A/C heat, all electric at the moment with the usual appliances.2. I want to connect permanently to breaker box for automatic turn on and will need fuel for it.3. In light of today's economy and potential collapse if one is in survival mode, is it better or cheaper to have butane or propane ?Also what size tank would need to buy, and how big is reasonable ? to last a good while or as needed.I am totally electric right now including water well pump so when power down, I'm sunk!!
Most of the permanent generators we install down here in Tx are natural gas powered that are connected to the utility. As far as name brand try the Kohler and Generac websites. These sites will also give you the gas consumption rates for the different units. They have alot of good info on sizing. Being as you have all electric it will need to be a decent sized unit to back up the whole home. You could always choose to backup only certain circuits and appliances to bring the demand load down and in turn bring down the size of the gen as well. I've installed 17KW to 100KW(Big Custom Home) units on homes. An automatic transfer switch comes with most stand alone generators. These will sense the utility power drop below a certain voltage and tell the generator to start and will automatically switch to generator power. When the utility power comes back on it will automatically switch back over and stop the generator. Most generators will also test themselves weekly. You can set the time and day for this test. One thing I would recommend is the importance of maintenance. Most generators need to be serviced 2 times a year. I've seen homeowners who did not have a good service plan in place be stuck in the dark when the generator did not work or did not work for long.
Q: i would like to get the machine that is at least 2000 0r 3000 kw
waw. That's a lot of energy for just a house. You got to be kidding me. okay, you can find diesel generator if you like, but you need to keep storage of diesel enough for it.
Q: I want to start my own business in industrial field i'm ready to invest money but i don't have qualifications like B-Tech, or any Degree or Diploma. I have completed my industrial training and i am working as a design engineer in small company. I can operate Auto CAD Unigraphics software and i can design anything (mechanical). I want to do business which helps to our eco system i.e. Acoustic Enclosures for Diesel Generators sets which makes a lot of noise and sounds etc etc.And ofcourse I have ideas about office system which will help to increase my business.I JUST WANT ADVISES WHICH CAN BE HELFUL FOR MY BUSINESS AND ME
Actually setup your own company is not necessary to have any professional qualification. I am not very sure is your this business needed? Most of the big hi-tech company director also not in their major study in U. Just go and do it as what you intend to do. Dont waste your time and wait here and there. I am doing accounting services but i am also not from this accounting background but i still go ahead and i have my own company now.
Q: i wan't to make a small diesel generator. I've access to all of the machines.which are needed in this project.i know about how the engine works.i don't know how piston rings and piston seals the combustion chamber, how to make them.how much power will my generator will generate.i wan't to make this generator for my PC.
With respect, you're actually asking how to design and build your own engine. There are entire books on the subject, and you need plenty of diagrams as well. That's far beyond the scope of an answer on here. But if all you need is a 12v regulated dc power supply why not just get a model car or boat engine and see if you can hook it up to a car alternator from a scrapped vehicle via a suitable pulley gearing? It certainly won't be quiet though, and you'll need to ensure that the engine is either fan or water cooled and that there's a suitable exhaust outlet. Model diesel engines aren't very large, but there are larger scale copies of the old British Mills engine design made in India, and also various websites which give you details or sell you plans on how to build your own. Usually they have lapped pistons so don't need the complication of piston rings.
Q: How much power does the generator from the diesel need to produce in order to bring the train up to running speed?
That all depends upon a number of things. First is the type of traction motor that is driving the wheels. Next is the weight of the entire load to be moved by the traction motors. Also is the grade the load is being moved upon. When a locomotive gets up to speed it might not be using many amps by the traction motors to maintain the speed. However, to start from a dead stop on flat track with a very heavy load it could run as high as 200 or more amps. Again, it also would depend upon the number of engines driving the number of generators driving the number of traction motors. A single locomotive might need to use more amps to get up to speed than a combination of locomotives hauling the same load. There are many variables to this question. Given a particular locomotive, types of traction motors, the load weight, it would be easier to calculate what would be needed in amperage. Everything depends upon all of these things. An engineer can burn up a traction motor(s) by exceeding the amount of amps maximum that the motor can handle. The generators don't care, nor do they figure into the problem. The diesels don't care either. They will just turn the generators faster with more RPM's, and the faster they run, the more the generators will produce, but will the traction motors handle what is given them?? It just depends .
Q: has anyone ever heard of a 50cc diesel engine? if so, where could i get one and how much is it?also, i just want the engine, i dont want the rest of the scooter, bike, etc.
Yes, diesels are common for generators, and they then tend to be small like this. Look for portable generators like for boats, RVs, etc., and then see if the engines are available separately or look up the engine makers directly.
Q: Also Onan generator Diesel Fuel filter# 149-2513 ?Also Onan generator Air filter#140-2897 ?
napa gold 1064 for an oil filter or Wix 1334 (replacement for the Onan filter) and Onan 122-0833 are physically the same. fuel filter 3063 napa I'm having trouble with the air cleaner
Q: Any places that can supply CHEAP diesel generators.i don't care about the voltage output.Price range about ?100 - ?300.
There okorder
Q: I am looking to run a 1200watt electrical generator using Hydrogen gas versus using Gasoline, Propane or Diesel. If anyone knows even where I can start looking towards steps or plans for something like this?
Um, can I ask you one question. why? Internal combustion engines can run off of hydrogen, sure, that's a no-brainer. But can I ask where you have an unlimited supply of hydrogen available to you, such that it's so much cheaper to use that it's worth it to make a very complicated expensive modification such as this? And why not just directly convert it into electricity with a fuel cell? It's far more efficient, lower maintenance, and sooooo quiet you could hear a mouse fart right next to it. Nice pie in the sky, but currently quite impractical.
