- Q: I get conflicting opinions from mechanics about extended shut-down.I am parked for 3 months and driving is not an option. Should I re-start my diesel engine weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or just wait the 3 months and re-start then? If so, should I just restart as normal?I do know when I re-start, I must wait until normal temperture is reached prior to shut down, this could take 20 minutes or longer with the rear mounted engine. The radiator covered from the outside will not warm-up as fast as a front mounted engine. Covering this radiator from the inside is not an option due to a shroud covering the fan.
- if you are going to leave it sitting they can sit for more than a year and it will still run fine but the only question is the battery they can not stay fully charged so if not using then disconnect the positive side to the battery and when you want to use it just reconnect it this is the way i do to preserve the battery and for added protection add stabil (fuel stabilizer) to diesel if it is going to sit through the winter Edit : a battery charger is a good idea My parent's RV has a solar panel which keeps the battery fully charged but does not use the RV much 1 to 2 times a year had a stabil in it so far no problems but the generator is problematic cause it runs on gas so I had to start it every month to make sure there is no problems with it(run it for 1/2 hour) gas deteriorates faster than diesel even if it has stabil
- Q: i got 390 TONS OF REFRIGERATION OF PU,TOTAL 16 NO,HOW MUCH KW OR KVA REQUIRED DISEL GENERATOR TO RUN THIS ,PACKAGED UNIT, TOTAL LOAD IS 390 TR, PLS CONVERT N TELL ME,N TAKING FACTOR OF SAFETY ALSO TELL ME THE KVA OF GENERATOR
- I am also confused as Mike above me. I could not make out anything starting with i got 390 TONS OF REFRIGERATION OF PU
- Q: I am interested in what are the inherient differences and what are the different sets used for?
- if the energy is forced through a resistance and back to the generator it is dcif the electrons move back and forth it is alternating current
- Q: I have two steel jerry cans that i used to carry gasoline in, now I want to store diesel fuel for an emergency generator in them. after I empty them will residual gasoline contaminate the diesel beyond usefulness?
- The most common problem is pouring the wrong fuel from the can into a vehicle. Repaint the can and Mark the the type of fuel .
- Q: I am writing about the affect on the economy, environment, and the health aspect.
- just okorder
- Q: Hi everybody. well I buyed a welding machine, and I need a portable generator for use the welding machine, but I dont know the generator capacity to use it, if the welding machine is 50 to 250 amps, but I just use from 100 to 200 amps, Can I use a 6000 watss Generator? or I need more power?
- Look on the welder spec plate it should be rated in amps. it needs to run watts amps, X volts from a old timer
- Q: I intend to buy Diesel Generator sets in USA but the problem is that the Generator sets available in USA are 50/60Hz /1800rpm, pf 1.0 , 277/480V whereas in my country the Frequency is 50Hz , Voltage is 220/380V and power factor is 0.8. What shall I do to convert the US spec's to what is my requirement.
- this might take place by using any form of motives. 23.4 volt isn't a low voltage to start the engine that expects to artwork on 24 volt. however the battery won't be charged nicely, even then it exhibits 23.4 volts, because you're trying out it with out load. So connect some resistance (that would desire to take comparable modern by using fact the starter motor modern) and then verify the voltage. If voltage drops to critically, then the battery is discharged or has issues like dry condition, or battery existence over and so on. If battery is solid, then verify for any loose connection as much as the motor terminals. different issues might desire to be interior the burnt motor or heavy load by using mechanical ailment on the IC engine (verify whether the diesel engine flywheel may well be circled easily- with out connecting to motor- yet that's feasible in elementary terms in small turbines)
- Q: I Live way out in the country and have a diesel generator.I want to switch to nuclear because it could be cheaper. I have plenty of land to dispose of any nuclear waste.
- You would be shut down before you got started unless you want to go through all the red tape and bs the government would throw at you. Plus you can't just bury it anywhere it could potentially contaminate the water table.
- Q: I want to build a diesel engine driven generator. The type of gen I have is asynchron, 400/690 V, 7,5 kW, 9,4 kVA and I was told that I need to stimulate it with capacitors (the unit is supposed to work without connection to a public netstand-aloneisland-service). Who can give me instructions how to do the el. part, size/type of capacitors etc?
- Because it lacks a separate field circuit, an induction generator cannot produce reactive power. In fact, it consumes reactive power, and an external source of reactive power must be connected to it at all times [1]. So you are right that you will need a three-phase capacitor bank at the output terminals (delta-connected). How to size the capacitors? That depends on a few things. Namely what kind of loads are going to be attached to it. I presume this is going to be an emergency generator operating alone (most induction generators are used this way nowadays). In that case, your capacitor bank will need to account for the generator consuming reactive power and the loads consuming reactive power. So, if you know what you are going to connect to the generator, figure up an estimate of the total reactive power of your loads. Then estimate how much reactive power your generator consumes (not sure how to do this; maybe estimate from your 7.5kW and 9.4kVA ratings?). Finally, to size your capacitors equate the total power consumed by gen and loads to this formula: estimated_3phase_power_consumed 3*(line-to-line_volt)^2/X where X 1/(2*pi*freq*C) Solve for C and there you go. My source indicates that the output voltage for an induction generator can vary quite a bit with varying inductive load, so bear that in mind and maybe oversize the caps a bit. Also, the types of capacitors should be able to withstand AC obviously and be rated within your expected operating temp, etc, etc. Good luck.
- Q: i understand that diesel engines are used in heavy duty vehicles and gasolines are usually used in cars.why are diesel engines preferred for heavy duty? and who are some cars using diesel engine, like some VW models that use clean diesel.i know the engine works a bit different between diesel and gasoline but as for performance, why is one preferred over the other for heavy duty and regular cars?
- Diesel engines ignite the fuel by compressing the fuel to a point where it combusts, instead of using a spark like gasoline engines. That's because diesel and gasoline have different properties: Diesel isn't easy to ignite with a spark, but gasoline is, cause diesel has a higher flashpoint. So because diesel engines have to have higher compression, they have longer strokes, so more torque. This helps increase how much weight the engine can pull, which is why all tractor trailors, ships, or anything heavy duty has a diesel engine. Only ships that don't have diesel engines have electric motors because they have a lot ot torque as well, but even those ships have diesel generators. Diesel engines are used in VW's because they use a lot less fuel. Also they last longer because diesel helps lubricate the engine. So in regular cars, they help acceleration (more torque), fuel economy, and engine life. In heavy duty vehicles, they also help fuel economy (but still use a lot), towing capacity, and engine life.
