Q: ie a ships diesel generator.
I'm assuming by trip you mean shut down/off Plenty of reasons: 1) overheat, most common cause, could be lost water pump or water supply or cooling lines plugged 2) electrical, although diesel does not use sparkplugs there are electrical components. There are glow plugs that get the whole process started when cold, there is a starter motor that gets it all going and there is some method to keep the fuel warm enough to flow correctly 3) Starve for fuel, either fuel ran out, to low temp so its sludge 4) Loss of oil pressure that is used for lubrication 5) Ouput limits, there will be an overcurrent/overvoltage system regulating the output of he generator and if it gets really out of wack then it will kill the whole thing to prevent damage to everything That's all I can think of right now
Q: I am wondering if you can burn home heating oil in a diesel engine, I have a diesel generator and I am curious if I ran out of diesel say in a bad storm and couldn't get to a station for more could i but some home heating oil in it and run it with out messing things up?
diesel as far as i know is basically the same as home heating oil. diesel is a bit more refined. my uncle has been driving trucks for about 20 years now and when he was still an owner/opp. he would run home heating oil when diesel prices got high. so It will be just fine
Q: first, no power plants here.there is a siege on my country.also no engines like these which generate electricity from wind.and they keep cutting the electricity.so, I`m ready to do everything with my hands.and well, yes I can buy some basic things. like dynamo.actually everything basic thing like diode and these stuff, I can buy.I have some prior knowledge in electricity,I`m 200% ready to study and know more,I`m 200% ready to do the needed machine with my own hands.so, can you suggest any basic Ideas that may help me? and already known Ideas that can be implemented
First question is can you get fuel like coal or gas? If something like that is possible you might want to look into either trying to build or buy a small gas generator or a steam piston that you could then use to generate electricity. Otherwise water, wind or solar is your best bet. Solar probably won't work to well unless you can afford to buy panels, making them isn't really an option. Look into wind, but hydro power especially wouldn't be that hard.
Q: I was wondering what it takes to build a HHO generator I cannot find a FREE guid anywhere. And also if it will work on fuel injected vehicals, a 2000 Jetta GLS to be exact.
They are a SCAM, and don't work on any vehicle, fuel injected or not. You won't find a free guide because the sellers want your money. Not just my opinion, but the opinion of any competent mechanic, engineer, or anyone with any knowledge of basic physics.
Q: HI FROM NEW ZEALAND.I HAVE A LISTER-PETTER 16 KVA DIESEL 3 PHASE GENSET WITH SINGLE PHASE SOCKET @ 240 VAC. WITH A ITALIAN ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTICS CONTROL PANEL WITH BREAKERS ETC.WHEN RUNNING A ESAB CADDY PROFESSIONAL 140 INVERTER WELDER @130 AMPS USING 4 MM HARDFACING RODS, ON FIRST STRIKE THE GENSET CUTS OUT AND DIE.WHEN USING A COPPER WOUND TRANFORMER WELDER THE THING RUNS WELL BUT WILL NOT STOP WHEN I HIT THE KEY TO TURN OFF OR EMERGENCY STOP BUTTON.NOTE; THIS IS A STANDBY GENSET IN THAT I JUST PLUGGED IN A WELDER, THE GENSET IS NOT A DEDICATED WELDING GENERATOR.I USED OTHER DIESEL GENSETS PRIOR WITHOUT ANY PROBS.WILL ANY1 HAVE ANY CLUES? REGARDING THIS.THANKS IN ADVANCE.CHEERS CARL GIN
Does the Esab welder have high frequency? If so the high freq. is feeding back into the generator and frying the electronics. You may need to have the generators repaired. The only way to prevent damage is to turn the high freq. off, or drive an earth ground as close to the welder as possible and you have to run a wire to your grounding clamp to this ground and the machine ground needs to go to this also. You have to get the high freq. out of the circuit as quick as possible. (I have a Hobart Champion Fabshop that is notorious for this.)
Q: HelloI am doing a question on my homework and im being asked to determine how long a tank of gas on a diesel generator would last a family if one tank produced 20kW of electricity. This family uses 2.052kWh of electricity every day. The problem i have run into is that i don't know how to determine how long tha tank can last with only those values, i have a feeling im missing something very obvious here. Any help would be great. Thanks!
Can you post the actual question as written? You have to be able to somehow get a kWh value out of the diesel generator. Otherwise, the answer to the question is 0 days. You can't put gas into a diesel generator and expect it to do anything.
Q: What is the maximum power of a diesel generator
The diesel is ignited and the mixture is heated and the volume is rapidly expanding.
Q: Hello,I'm doing a research project that requires me to report on five ethical missteps made by engineers/staff at the Fukushima plant that caused the disaster. I'm having trouble with this research because most of the information i'm finding centers around the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that caused so much damage. Can anyone point me toward any human errors that centered around poor ethical judgement?
If you just google human error fukushima you're going to get (a) a few articles from the summer of 2011; (b) a rash of articles from July, 2012; (c) a rash of articles from Oct-Nov, 2013; and (d) a rash of articles from last week (Feb 2014). Whether all will cite ethical missteps is unknown to me.
Q: Do they look any different? I can not see the difference and I do not know which trains are electric and which ones are diesel. If there is any difference in appearance, what is the difference?
One of the most obvious differences is that usually, (with the exception of DMU's, or Diesel Multiple Units, and railmotors, railcars, etc), is that Diesels don't have windows, except for the cab windows. Another obvious diffence is Diesels (as said above in previous answers) do not obtain power from overhead wires, or Catenary as they are called. Electric trains are a lot quieter, they don't have a sort of diesel smell about them, they accelerate faster, and they don't emmit any exhaust. Electric trains can also be pointed out easily if the Pantograph, or current collector can be seen. The Pantograph is a moveable frame on the roof of one or more carriages in an electric train that makes contact with the Catenary (electric wires above the track) and takes the power to the train, hence making it go. Electric trains can also receive electricity from a live third rail, or in some cases (such as the London Underground), 2 additional live rails (forth rail). A confusing point - Diesels can operate on track with and without Catenary, however, (overhead) electric trains can ONLY operate on track with Catenary. Likewise for thrid rail electrics, they can only operate on track with an additional live rail. Hope this helps.
Q: can you also tell me the functioning of those parts. thank you.
I think you mean diesel-electric generator. Properly, a diesel generator is a factory that makes diesel fuel. And the parts (at a high level, as there are thousands of parts total) are a diesel engine, plus fuel tank. an electric generator or alternator and electronic and mechanical controls to adjust the engine and generator so that it outputs the required voltage and frequency as the load changes.
