Q: I could see how it could benefit certian classes of commercial trucks, heavy equitment;ect!but what about passanger cars though?
well look at ethanol for instance it damages fiberglass plugs the fuel system over time many in the marine world have allready had the issue with ethanol being added to diesel. hybrids have no true savings. a good tuneup and remapping of the ineffecient computer a cold air intake good flowing exhuast and proper tire inflation per tire manufacturer not vehicle manufacturer can make any gas vehicle far more effieceint
Q: Diesel generator is not what is the reason for generating electricity
the excitation winding wiring error, polarity opposite.
Q: For anyone well up on EMD E and F units: saw a rather frightful picture last night of an F unit slamming into a switcher. not pretty ofcourse. it was on a curve so the F unit fell to her side to the outside of the curve. but not before breaking in half right behind the cab. the picture caption remarked that this was a common feature of the Es and Fs. By design? for safety? or design flaw? first time id seen this type of damage to an F, and certainly have never heard this comment of them. can someone clarify please? Couple days ago i was doing some reminiscing of railfanning way back in the day. i was fondly thinking of the great time i had with the crews. got to thinking about more of the details. all the stuff they had shown me. then something popped into my head. torpedoes! back then, scary lil devices to me! but rightlyfully so. so while im here in questions, are track torpedoes still used (when needed)? are they still around? havent seen one in quite along time since ive thought about it.thank you!
I seem to recall a reference in Trains stating that these were designed to buckle right behind the cab in order to protect the crew in cases of head-on collisions. Apparently, the buckling was intended to absorb energy that otherwise might crush the cab. I can see how the buckling might appear to be a design flaw in the form of a weakness in the frame that allows the buckling. But my understanding is that it was an intentional design feature, kind of like how a fuse is the weakest link for the purpose of protecting the rest of the circuit.
Q: I have never had any interest in cars until recently when diesel engines have started to feel like important and valuable power sources moving forward.
They've always been popular in Europe as they have ridiculous fuel taxation. And diesels have traditionally gotten better fuel economy. But these days with direct injected turbo gas engines becoming more prevalent the diesel's fuel economy edge is diminishing. Case in point, the BMW 335i and the BMW 335d. The gas engine gets almost the same mileage as the diesel as you can see here fueleconomy /feg/Find.do?a same deal with the MB 350 as you can see here fueleconomy /feg/Find.do?a Diesels are still quite important for cargo transportation, industrial use, and agriculture, as they have always been. But no offense, but if you're just now finding out about diesel cars, then you've missed the boat by a few decades, diesel cars have been around for a long time.
Q: Diesel fuel savers are available today for diesel engines. These can be used for most diesel engines from school buses, big rigs, cranes, off-road equipment, marine use, and generators. If a mandate was passed to require these units to be installed tremendose sums of money could be saved by end users. For more info visit bestdieselsolutions
Too bad they don't work. However a recent development has been the use of compressed natural gas in diesel engines. Until recently CNG could only be used in less efficient spark ignition engines like gasoline engines but it turns out that if the CNG is proceeded with a little diesel fuel, they can also be compression ignited.
Q: I have a bunch of old diesel left over from y2k, a family friend stored 10k gallons and its turned a brown color, it dosent small funny at least to me, still looks red if you put it up to the light but it is not vivid red like it used to be it has a dingy brown color. It was originally RED diesel.Im afraid to run this in my generator, is there any additive I can add to clean it up or fix it that you have PERSONAL experience with.?
confident, Sulphur acts as a lubricant for diesel autos. I tension Land Rovers, and in case you go online to a pair of those boards- there is usually a protracted checklist of communicate on it. you could upload lubricants to the gas to boost sturdiness of the gas pump - that's all which will positioned on out besides. in case you have a prized posession this may well be a solid theory. in any different case a small volume of latest Vegetable oil on your tank will supply a matching lubricant effect for the pump. - not too plenty or you would be able to wreck the pump in chilly climate. greater importantly for older autos is the fashion of oil you utilize. present day oils do not incorporate the same anti-positioned on effective properties older oils do, and a brilliant form of will reason your seals to fail. - study up on it and notice what the previous boys do.
Q: Having a basic background in electric and family moving into a remote prefab home with no electric, water, or gas, I decided to help. House and work shed electric requirements are simple, totaling a possible 5kwh at a given time to the shed, and 7kwh to the home. Obviously the home will have constant electric requirements (fridge, fans, etc). I cannot imagine it is economical nor efficient to run a diesel generator 24/7 for energy production as needed. Here are my questions:1. Should I use a stand-alone or emergency backup generator.2. Should I go with the conventional wisdom of choosing a generator that operates at 80% capacity for 1005 of my needs. IE: I need exactly 12kw maximum, so a ~14kwh generator.3. Solar panels have storage batteries. Can I use 12v or 18v, or an industry specific battery to only operate the generator for several hours a day for storgae of power? I know this is incredibly inefficient, any alternatives?Any help is greatly appreciated. Just need to be pointed in the right direction.
I think a stand alone gennie would be ok
Q: can you also tell me the functioning of those parts. thank you.
I think you mean diesel-electric generator. Properly, a diesel generator is a factory that makes diesel fuel. And the parts (at a high level, as there are thousands of parts total) are a diesel engine, plus fuel tank. an electric generator or alternator and electronic and mechanical controls to adjust the engine and generator so that it outputs the required voltage and frequency as the load changes.
Q: here in the town i live in we recently had an avalanche take out power transmission lines from our hydro dam in the time it takes them to repair those 90% of our power is coming from diesel generators(you should have cringed there) causing the price per kWh to go up 500% for what might be the next 3 months.currently i make enough that i can live with a bill 5 times higher than im used to, but a couple of years ago that would have got me kicked out of my apartment because there was no way in hell i could find an extra 300 bucks a month with a week or two notice.its been a big deal here, but we are notorious complainers, so im wondering if that situation would cause you to write letters to editors and complain to everyone who will listen all day long?
im currently going to school, and paying rent, so i would'nt get by if my life depended on it
