- Go to 3 different carpet stores. Choose the carpet you like and ask for an estimate. Most reputable carpet stores will give you a free estimate. It will tell you how much carpet you need. How much padding. What you need to prep. It is cheaper to have the room cleared. If you can't then you have 3 different estimates. When choosing the carpet. Bend the sample in half. If you can see the backing choose a different carpet. You don't want to be able to see the backing if possible. The denser the carpeting the better it will hold up to wear. Get the best padding you can afford. If you have pets get a vapor proof liner pad. If it is a berber carpeting it should be stretched drum tight.
- Q: Okay so for the past few years I've been making latch hook rugs. They take up too much space and I was wondering if there is a way to sell these? I don't really have people to sell them to, and I was wondering how one would go about getting rid of these projects while not throwing away all your cash. - You could sell them on Craigslist. You can sell ANYTHING on Craigslist! Craigslist lets you post pictures, if you wish ... so potential buyers would know what they were getting.

- The stretcher is a key component. Without the stretcher you could end up with wrinkles in the carpet and the edges may pose a problem.

- Sprinkle dry baking soda around, let set overnight then vacuum. Not much is going to get it out of carpets. The carpet AND PAD are causing the odor.

- Q: I am looking to shampoo my carpet but don't want to splash out on an expensive cleaner. Is there like a spray or can of powder or something I can buy and use myself at home to clean my carpet?
- Those cans of sprays are ineffective and can prove quite costly and the powders you speak of are granules and those you must have a special machine to to pick up the granules you simply can not vacuum up this stuff, my suggestion to you is to use what I use Baking soda and Cornstarch mixed, sprinkle these two in equal amounts over your carpet wait several hours or overnight and then just vacuum up the next day or after several hours, thats it. it is easy and cleans the carpet very nicely for spots you can just use a small dollop of Shaving cream on the spot and rub in and allow to dry then just vacuum up this will remove grease and muddy dirty spots and some stains, if you have trouble removing certain stains just use undiluted White Vinegar or a little dishwashing liquid mixed into some warm water sponge on and then rinse with warm water never hot water as this will cause the pile to mash down and become stiff Good Luck !

- If you have olefin carpeting you can use anything to get it out. If you have a blend then you are out of luck. If it can penetrate wood to stain it, it will penetrate carpet fiber. We use a solvent to break down oil stains. Water based cleaners will not work. Like takes out like. Be careful with solvent cleaners. If you use too much it can beak down the glue on you carpet backing. You can get solvent spotters from carpet cleaning supply stores. We consider this to be carpet damage not a stain.
- Q: ok my rug burn scar is peeling by itself and the skin under is white should i be worried....will that leave a scar??
- As a rule of thumb, rug burns are too shallow to cause scarring. You will probably have some residual redness in the area after it finishes healing, but that is not a scar, and will go away in a few days when replaced by healthy skin tissue. Even if you do get a scar, it will just be flat and the color will fade in a few weeks and it won't be noticeable. It sounds like yours is almost healed, so there's not all that much you can do. Don't scratch it, don't peel away the skin. If it's very itchy you can moisturize.

- steam clean the rug and then apply a product called Urine Gone. it works really well. After about an hour or so, stem clean the rug again.
