- Q:i dont have enough money to re-carpet my floor. for my room my dad says that it would cost about $500. but we dont have enough spare money for that kind of thing (we're saving for disney.) but i hate my carpet! it has stains all over it that i cant get out. and its a girly periwinkle color. he said that i can re-paint it. but i cant paint it the color i want because the carpet wont work with it. i dont know what to do. my room is SO tiny as it is and i dont like it very much already. my parents have the biggest room (obviously) my older brother has the second biggest, my little brother has the third (i could have had it but it has green walls and red carpet) and my older sisters room is the same size as my little brother's. what is an alternative to recarpeting my room so i dont have to pay as much??? is there ANY ideas, anything that might help is appretiated, thanks!!!
- you can always go out and rent an extraction machine and clean your carpet. also whats underneath your carpet? if its wood flooring and its in good shape take the carpet out and get yourself an area rug or runner.
- Q:For the record, I didn't want this rug...I told my husband anything that says quot;do not add waterquot; was a bad idea with young kids in the house....but here we are....So I know you're not supposed to use water on sisal (natural fiber/grass) rugs, but merely quot;blottingquot; as per the directions does not leave me with a clean, sanatized feeling. I generally use water and hydrogen peroxide to clean my carpets (I avoid chemical cleaners whenever I can), but how can I at least freshen up the area until enough time has passed that I'm not screaming quot;don't sit/crawl there!quot; Is baking soda an option?
- My only suggestion - make your husband responsible for this problem immediately, and walk away. You did not want the rug for just this reason, and any move for you to take responsibility means you buy into the idea that this was an appropriate purchase. Stick to your guns, call him or text him and let him know his fabulous rug has experienced just the thing you knew would happen, and just drop it in his lap. The minute he brought it into the house, he took responsibility for whatever happened next- so don't do it for him. At all. This isn't just about the rug, of course- it's about power and who makes the decisions. If he wants to make them, it's up to him to do whatever it takes to follow through. Not your job, and it wasn't a joint decision made with your input. Call him, let him know he has a problem, and walk away. Not one paper towel- I'm not kidding. Or you will own the #$% rug and the blame for the spot your cleaning efforts make.
- Q:i live with my g-parents and the rugs are disgusting, and they refuse to change them. is there a way to throughly clean them and attempt to restore them without replacing them? thanks!
- when you say rugs i assume you mean throw rugs and not carpeting. throw rugs can be taken to the car wash and sprayed off then vacuumed there or with a shop vac. let them dry outside on a clothes line or over a fence. the high pressure soap, then high pressure rense does a great job of getting them clean. if carpet is the issue rent a machine or call a company that cleans carpet
- Q:A new home I'm thinking of buying has been allotted a $16 per square yard carpet allowance by the builders. Is this low, reasonable, or high? Will this be enough to carpet the house with some of the higher end carpet such as stainmaster? Thanks!
- This is a normal amount for a builder's allowance. They do not allow for top quality..that is the way it works. You can purchase what you want, and they will just take off the allowance and you pay for the extra. Not many will negotiate..this is just the way it works. No biggie..just pay the extra to upgrade to what you want. Your kitchen cupboard, countertop, bathroom, all fixtures and flooring are like this ...upgrades can be had you just have to pay the difference.
- Q:Why people crazy about indoor outdoor rugs? Give the proper reasoning.
- Outdoor : Small and large houses alike can benefit from attractive outdoor rugs. The right outdoor rug can extend your living room into your yard and make use of space you didn't realize you had. If enjoying the outdoors is a priority for you and your family, then read on for all the things you need to know about outdoor rugs. Indoor: One of the most important things to look for in an indoor and outdoor type rug is the size of it. You'll find they come in sizes ranging from small, runner rugs to huge, room-size rugs. Which size you need to get is going to depend on where you want to put it. Many people choose to use indoor outdoor rugs on hallways leading to and from the outside, which is why you'll find many runner rugs. However, other people wish to cover their entire patio on them, and for this purpose you would use a larger one. To make things easy, take your measuring tape out and see how large you need it to be. Chances are they wont have the exact size, but you should be able to find one close to it.
- Q:if you want more detail just ask :)
- I'm in Australia too so that question made perfect sense to me haha. For floating I usually just go with a cotton rug unless it's early on a winter morning, then if it's cold enough I'll leave the heavy rug on or I'll switch it to a pola fleece.
- Q:My cat (Happy) pees all over this 1 rug we have. Happy is almost 13! And not fixed. Her mother also peed, on the 1 rug we have. Why is Happy doing it? How do it stop her?
- Hello Cat People. Cats are truly evil and vindictive creatures, this is her way of repaying 13 years of love, care, attention, not to mention free bed and board. Laters Cat People Thingies.
- Q:How often is the average for replacing living room or bedroom carpet, I know it depends on the traffic, etc but just wondering averages and when is it time to replace instead of having it cleaned
- When it becomes thread bare, or does not come clean when you clean it, or it becomes damaged in some way that cannot be repaired, or you just can't stand to look at it any more...that's the time to change it. There is no rule of thumb, and anyone who tries to give you a time line based on just time, is just trying to sell you carpet. If it's not broken, don't fix it. There is a point though, when you can go too long. Example: I bought a house about a year ago with really terrible carpet. It was about 40 years old and looked like it had never been cleaned. It was horrible. I pondered for a split second whether I should try to have it cleaned once, to see if it was salvagable or go ahead and remove it before I moved in. Every time I went to the house, while trying to prep it to move in, I came out itching.... I had every last stitch of carpet removed, and found beautiful hardwood floors throughout, and so had those refinished and bought area rugs. So, that was an extreme....the point is that it is possible to wait too long, but still, keep your carpets as long as you keep them clean and you like them. I had another carpet, which I loved, for about 20 years, and I loved looking at it every day when I came home. I kept it very clean, and finally killed it with a dropped iron....
- Q:Im buying a horse who doesn't come with anything, i know what else i need but i wondered what rugs i need to last me the year i have a heavyweight full neck turnout that will fit her but didn't know about medium weights or stable or fleeces? shes quite a fine Arab cross mare any help would be brill! Thanks!
- I would get a cotton sheet for those days that you and I need a jacket, turnout sheet for those days its a bit cooler and maybe damp- don't want to kill your cotton sheet so its worth having a seperate turnout sheet. Then I would get a medium turnout. I personally don't bother with stable blankets as at the end of the day who really wants to be switching a million blankets a day! For the really cold day/nights it maybe necessary to lay up... its really nice that you have a heavy with a neck... theres nothing worse then having a clipped or fine coated horse that has to have their neck exposed.
- Q:Kids took natural fiber rug outside while cleaning hardwood floors. Boom - Super thunderstorm. Next day rug is soaked, its not looking good at all. is there anything I can do to recover it? After a day or two in the sun trying to dry it out one spot near edge is beginning to grow mold. Can I save it?
- thoroughly mix one part liquid chlorine bleach with six parts water in a spray mist bottle. Test the mixture by spraying a little in a corner of the rug (not on the binding). If bleaching occurs, dilute the solution and re-test until it is safe to use. Mist the solution lightly on the moldy area, using a soft brush to work it down into the weave to reach all the mold growth. After five or ten minutes rub the area with a clean, dry cloth. Repeat if necessary. When you are finished, be certain that the rug dries thoroughly within five or six hours, using a hair dryer on the damp spot if required.
