- Q: As I wrote last night, I have a Isuzu Rodeo V6 3.2L 4X4. I guess I misunderstood my husband. I talked to him this morning and he said that it did overheat but the gauges on the inside of the car wasn't showing that it was overheating. It wasn't spewing coolant but the coolant that was just filled up a couple of weeks ago is empty. Does anyone know what the problem is?
- Sounds like it has to be leaking somewhere OR maybe you didn't fill it enough with coolant?
- Q: does water pump sealers work?
- If your talking about the water pump for a car it doesn't have any pumps those would be the radiator pumps that are connected to the water pump and transmission which keeps the radiator and transmission at a temperature that keeps the vehicle from over heating. If you have a overheating car and a mechanic told you your water pump has a leak then sorry you would have to replace the water pump but just don't go to a popular mechanic for that because it can get really expensive do your research and find you someone with a garage it cheaper because the part itself is not that expensive it putting it in that cost lol. Hope this helps.
- Q: What causes a water pump on a car to go bad????? and are they a pain to change by yourself?????
- Bearing siezes/ Housing leaks/ Seals wear out. All do to use, expanding/contracting due to heat and cool down, and time also. Just a side note for Bryan K a car being FWD or RWD has no bearing on how much room you have for the waterpump or vice versa. This is a generalized statement that holds no truth. I'll give you one example that makes that statement false : when replacing a timing belt/water pump 96-01 Audi A4 1.8t 4cyl the entire front bumper and support must be removed in order to gain access to the timing belt and water pump. However this method is true for both FWD/AWD models. 99.5 to 2004 volkswagens have the same 1.8t engine but they are not longitudinally orientated the water pump and timing belt can be accessed fairly easy a lot less labor than the audi and the jetta is also available in FWD and AWD. Before someone contradicts the AWD jetta look up 4motion volkswagens. There are not alot in the states but they exist. Thanks for allowing me to throw inmy two cents in correcting generalized truths that are not true.
- Q: 2000 3.3L engine. I understand, depending on engine year, it can be a very difficult job. Is this the one or is it much more difficult on the 3.0 L ? One involves timing belt ? Help ? Thanks' Ken
- If there are not any obvious leaks, the 1st factor to envision may be the Radiator/coolant reservoir cap for a lacking gasket or o-ring based at this variety of cap, and if ok, do a tension attempt to work out if the cap is preserving tension. in the journey that your engine has a bleed screw, you ought to use compressed air source (and regulator, if mandatory) to pressurize the engine to particularly below the cap score and than seem for leaks. If none chanced on, a compression examine will point out a a probability blown head gasket.
- Q: I would like information to use an automotive water pump to ( or possibly another device ) to pump water approximately 60 feet (20 meters) elevation from creek without electricity. I only need enough water for 25 chickens. So we are not talking about a households supply of water.
- You need a lot more information than that. My first question is: how do you intend to operate a pump of any kind without electricity? Another piece of information needed for this is how far the chickens will be kept from the creek. Required change in elevation is a factor, but so is the length of pipe through which the water will be pumped. Pumping water farther leads to more energy lost due to friction which means you need a larger pump to maintain the same flow rate. Diameter and material of pipe is also a factor, along with bends and expansions/contractions. Since you don't need exact values for this... the flow rate required wouldn't even need to be 5 gal per day. That's just a trickle of water, so basically any pump capable of pumping water up 60 feet through however long your pipe (probably PVC) will be, would probably be enough to maintain drinking water for your chickens. That being said... if this is near your house, why don't you just run a water hose out there? Put a cap on the hose, drill a small hole in the cap and leave the valve to the hose turned on all the time. You could test it by seeing how long it takes to fill up a gallon or something...
- Q: OK i was driving and i noticed the gas pedal wouldn't really work and people were telling me to move so right away i moved to the side of the road and got my car towed home. a couple details are that there was smoke coming out of the hood, don't know what part of the engine though.there was not much water in the water pump. my dad thinks that the problem was it was leaking the water.the car turns on ac works it just shakes when it turn on the motor no condition to drive it obviously but it does take a little time to start the engine. i want to know if anyone knows what may be the problem and about how much it may cost.ohh btw this car model is a 1999 Chrysler Sebring Convertible 2 door.thank you!
- sounds like the car broke down so we are past the waterpump itself if you drove it until it stopped running. Unless a mechanic filled it up with water just to see how it runs after it cooled off its not possible to tell anything yet. It needs to get checked out at the shop. Once you find out what kind of damage is done we can telll more. I suspect you may have to check your important fluids a lot more often if you want to keep your car in good condition. If you ran it out of water and drove it until it damaged the engine it could be expensive to repair lets hope its not too bad ok? good luck
- Q: How long should it take a mechanic to replace a water pump on a 96 dodge intrepid ES with a 3.5L engine? I was given a estimate of 6 hours does it really take that long? at 100.00 a hour I'm not sure my car is worth fixing
- I work on all different types of cars but just hearing you mention this one makes me be able to recall what a nightmare these cars really are. The water pump on these cars are driven by the timing chain, yes timing chain. Whats really different about this car is when the water pump goes out, it leaks water but since the pump is under the front cover it can't leak water into the oil pan so they put in what they call a weep hole. When the pump starts to leak you will get dripping water out of the left side of the block which is different but normal in this case. The fact that the timing chain drives this pump says this repair is going to take alot of time I believe standard book time on this job is around 6 hours.
- Q: i have a 1990 honda accord, 2.2l 5 spd standard, and my water pump went on it, and i was wonder if there is a diagram out there somere on how to replace it or how to take it out, cuz it is in the most stupidest spot ever, if you know were i could find a diagram on how to do so could you please help me?
- You don't want to do it. Water pumps that are driven by the timing belts should not be done by amateurs since precise alignment of the camshaft(s), crankshaft, balance shaft, water pump is critical. You should really take it to a trusted mechanic otherwise you can put yourself in a world of hurt if you attempt it on your own. Does the term new engine mean anything for you? Not being rude, just honest.
- Q: i was wondering how hard it would be to chancge a water pump in a 1997 chrysler sebring.
- I had a 97 Eagle Vision that had a lot of the same internals as the Sebring, Intrepid, etc... I went through 4 water pumps on it and eventually got rid of it because of the lemon laws. From what I remember back then it is an electric water pump with an absolutely horrid location for mounting. I am going to guess that it's something best left to an ASE type of of mechanic.
- Q: I would like to know that a water pump or water motor which is of 1 hp what is the height from which it can pull water ? And also if there is a bubbling sound of air and no water is being supplied what does it mean ?
- I will 'clarify' the question, then respond----- If you have a 1HP motor connected to a water pump,; what is its lifting capability ? (like raising the water UP from a well)... At or neat 'sea level', the very ideal (perfect) pump can lift water UP from 33 feet below. To be practical, considering in-efficiencies(losses) you should plan for about 25 feet of lift. Gurgling or bubbling of air/water is a good sign that the pump can not generate the vaccum-seal to begin the flow of water(priming process). You need to provide a way to prime the pump. To prime the pump, you need to supply a flow of water INTO the pump as it is running(water must be running backward into the well, then the pump will initiate the lifting process. To prevent the need to prime the pump everytime that you turn it on, you should put a check valve at the INTAKE orifice (the very end that sticks in the well). This will hold the column of water in the pipe; preventing it from running back into the well. (A check valve allows fluid to flow in one direction only....this must be connected such that the water can only flow UPWARD, out of the well. Good luck.....if you need further assistance, do email with more pump detail/specs. Make sure that the pump is rotating in the correct direction......
