Q: I need a water pump for a 1930 Chrysler Roadster and have no idea where to get one. Any suggestions?
try JC Whitney
Q: ok so im wondering if there is a water pump out there i can buy that automatically turns on when i turn the tap on. i looking for something thats strong enough to pump enough water to more than one taps at a time i.e kitchen tap, bathroom etc.
Lots of house booster systems available. Just ask.
Q: We usually wait 4 - 5 minutes for hot water in our master bath. I've been looking into ricirculation pump systems. This would have to be a retro-fit system since some of the lines run through concrete slab making adding a return loop on the line non-feasible. I have found some people comment on simply using a by-pass valve system without a pump (ie. Hot Water Lobster). We do have hard water which I've also read that can present a problem with pumps dieing quite quickly. While I'd like it, I don't need 1 second hot water, but I can't stand wasting gallons waiting for 4-5 minutes. A reasonable 15-30 second wait would be a huge improvement. Has anyone had reasonable success with the bypass valve without the pump or should I plan on getting the pump too? Thanks in advance!
A by-pass without a pump is going to do nothing. The pump moves the water from the heater to your sink. They do have the under counter heaters, but you need to have them plumbed for gas or have electrical run to them.
Q: One repair shop on the phone says I will need new water pump, coolant flush and *850.00. On the other hand the dealer says I may need tow other drive belts (alternator +). Second dealer says I may need a water pump! I do not wish to get stuck with extra costs! any one with experience?
Do you NEED a new water pump? No. Is it a good idea at this mileage to do the WP with the T-belt? Yes. The reason being if the water pump were not replaced and it were to fail at some point in the future you would have to pay all of that labor again since the timing belt has to be removed to get at it. Now the pump may never fail but it could which is why this is recommended as preventive maintenance. A T-belt on this car whether 4 or 6-cylinder books for 3.0 hours of labor time. Adding the water pump while the mechanic is already in there just adds 0.4 to 0.7 hours of labor time and the cost of the pump and coolant flush. Since the coolant flush is probably due anyway that really isn't even an additional cost. Similarly, the accessory drive belts have to come off when doing the timing belt. If they are worn or still original there is no labor additional charge to replace them at this time, just the cost of the parts. In the end it is up to you. To save money now you can opt just to replace the Timing Belt and perhaps the accessory belts as well and leave the pump alone. Ideally a water pump will last the life of the engine but then my shop replaces 4-5 water pumps a week that have failed so it can and does happen. If you opt to leave it alone just keep in mind that if it does fail you will have to pay all that labor a second time. If your willing to take that risk then....
Q: Hi there: my water pump is leaking, and my coolant lelel keeps droping, same problem. Im not sure if coolant flows through the water pump?
You will probably need to replace your water pump. It supplies all of the coolant for your entire engine
Q: I switched on the pump and smoke came out of it, i opened the pump n found it hadsome water probably caused the shock. How to repair it or is it dead?? ** its not a wellpump just a normal one that pump the water to the tank from a small reserve
All electrical things work on smoke - once the smoke escapes then they don't work. Seriously if water got into the works it’s probably burned out and needs to be replaced - having the motors rebuilt on these things usually costs more than a new one. More details click the following link…
Q: Because the water pressure is too small, this summer with self suction pump 750W, water is big, but every time that water is used for the first time out of the water is yellow like rust, probably after the release of 10 liters will become clear, then is not, but every one hour after the water time out is rusty hair yellow, so to waste a lot of water, but accidentally brought cooked food should not be good to the body. Now come in the water is through the pump, even without electricity, partition time for the first time water will be yellow, there is no master can teach me to disassemble, which can be cleaned?. Or something else. Thank you
The reason for the yellow water in the water suction pump is that the steel pipe in the underground is corroded. The water flows out through the water during the pumping process, and yellow is mainly the color of rust.Processing method: pull out the steel pipe deep into the ground and replace it with plastic pipe.
Q: Ok, I took my '93 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L in to get the serpentine belt replaced, as the old one had snapped. They told me that the water pump had locked up and that's what made the belt break. The thing is, I had to get the radiator and water pump replaced this past summer and I am wondering what might've made my water pump lock up since it is new. The Jeep has a lot of miles and I'm slowly having to fix a lot of things, so I'm trying to be sure that I don't fix the pump just to find another problem. Also, the repair place told me the water pump looks brand new, so I know that it was definitely replaced, but should I contact the place the fixed the pump and radiator and see if there's some sort of warranty on the pump?
If the pump is 6 months old it should be under warranty. The labor to replace it will probably cost you though. If you are having the work done at the same place that did the previous work, they may do that part of the labor free, just ask. Additional: More likely the pump failed first and broke the belt. If your engine has an automatic belt tensioner, you cannot over tighten the belt. Have the tensioner checked and replaced if needed as well. The labor should be minimal as they already have the belt off to do the additional work. It could be the alternator is used as the tensioner in which case, there is no automatic tensioner. Have any idler pulleys checked out while the work is being done. Ask your mechanic.
Q: i have a 1996 infiniti i30t and its leaking from underneath the car so i took it in to get it diagnosed and they said i need a new water pump and they are trying to charge me 500 dollers and if i need a new timing belt i have to pay a 1000 dollers. is there a cheaper way i can fix my car. it started to over heat today and this sucks cause its my only car my parents wont buy me a new car so im stuck with this stupid old car and i have to pay for it they wont help me. can someone help me?
The V-6, has timing chains, not a belt. The labor guide shows 3.6 hours to replace the water pump. The retail price on an aftermarket water pump (not genuine Infiniti) is about $60. So the shop's quote of $500 is about right. The only way to save money on this repair is to find a shop with a lower hourly rate. If you've been taking care of the car and changing the oil, you should not need to replace the timing chains. However, it the shop finds that the chains need to be replaced along with the pump, the total bill should be $1,000, not $1,000 plus $500. If they replace the chains, the labor for the pump replacement is already done. Don't pay twice for it.
Q: The water burst how to repair?
The general water burst positions for the pump body, pump cover, if not very serious welding can be used to trap, at which point the attention electrode material, most of the water pump are cast iron, so the welding difficulty is not small. If it has become deformed or has split into parts, replace it.
