Q: My Toyota 2006 Sienna has 80K miles on it and I asked the dealer to inspect the vehicle. He suggested that i replace Timing Belt, Water Pump, Drive Belt and Trans Pan Gasket. The cost of the repair comes to $1300 ($460 for Timing Belt, $350 for Water Pump, $140 for Drive Belt $370 for Pan Gasket).I'm caught by surprise with the price quoted and things to be replaced. Is the price quoted reasonable? Are these replacement common for Sienna vehicle with 80K miles? I don't know what could possibly go wrong if these are not changed for couple of months. I have an extended warranty on the vehicle for 100K miles will any of the above get covered under warranty?Any suggestions or advice is highly appreciated/
Yes, I agree with the others and follow the 90,000 mile rule and have never had a major problem with the 5 Toyotas we have bought from brand new and the longest we have ever kept was 1993 Toyota Camry LE with 211,000 miles that we gave away when my wife and her sisters all insisted on SUVs and she upgraded to 2005 Toyota Highlander 6 cylinder AWD. FYI in addition to timing belt package and water pump, I also have my mechanic replace the thermostat and both fan belts. Finding a good mechanic who has the skills and know-how and works on all kinds of Japanese vehicles is the 1st Major Step. Mine worked a long time ago at the local Toyota dealer and I have seen/witnessed him 1st hand tear down and put back engines transmissions and though his rate slowly creeps up, I stayed with him with 20 years and see him for advice whenever I noticed anything unusual. FYI on timing belt replacements, I put together a list of parts for my mechanic to confirm these are the genuine Toyota parts I need, then there are 2 Toyota dealers in Texas: Toyota of Dallas and Toyota of Richardson TX that sell about 30% discount off of MSRP plus UPS fee and anything I miss or overlooked I let the service station get from the dealer. Regarding the transmission, I simply drain the ATF every 30,000 miles and refill with genuine Toyota ATF fluid and once when I was busy my mechanic did it for $30 plus the Toyota ATF Fluid. Hope the Above info Helps!
Q: need to know how to change water pump of my plymouth voyager its a 96 and motor is a 4.
Rick is usually spot on but he kiinda missed the boat on this one. The only 4 cyl available in a 96 Voyager was the 2.4L. There were 3 V-6 options but only one 4 cyl. As C-tech said it is driven by the timing belt so I would recommend replacing the belt and tensioner while you are there. ALLDATA shows a labor time of 3.8 hours. Here's the procedure. NOTE: If you've never set up a timing belt before find a helper who has or hire a mechanic. If done wrong you can destroy your valves. Raise and support vehicle and remove right inner splash shield. Remove accessory drive belts and power steering pump. Drain cooling system. Support engine from bottom and remove right engine mount. Remove power steering pump bracket attaching bolts and set pump and bracket assembly aside. Power steering lines do not need to be disconnected. Remove right engine mount bracket. Remove timing belt. Remove inner timing belt cover. Remove water pump attaching bolts and the water pump. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following: Install new O-ring gasket in water pump body O-ring groove. Tighten bolts to specification. Fill cooling system. Best of Luck!!!
Q: Is the pump lift horizontal or vertical?
The vertical height from the center line of the pump impeller to the surface of the water source
Q: I need to replace a water pump
Just take off the fan belt, unbolt the water pump and fit the new one. Make sure the gasket area is clean and use a new gasket. If it has the fan on it, take that off first.
Q: How can I be sure the water pump is the problem before spending $ on repairs. 97 civic overheating.?
Check the thermostat, if that's the problem you'll be looking at a 5 or 10 dollar bill if you do the work yourself.
Q: Is a 3000 watt generator sufficient to power a 3/4 horsepower water pump?My house has a 3/4 horsepower pump that it uses to pump water from the well to the house. I want to purchase a generator that will be sufficient to power this pump in a power outage. Is 3000 Watts sufficient?
1 hp is 746 watts; however start up and power factors need to be considered. A 0.75 hp motor at steady state draws 560 watts at steady state; to overcome start up assume you will need about 1,100 watts (1.1 KW). Your generator is 3 KW so it should do well.
Q: School project. My group cannot find this answer.
Either from the HP needed to run or the output in GPM.
Q: How important is a torque wrench,if so what is the proper fp torque for pump/pulley ?
dont need to tighten until good and snug torque is critical on head bolts and bearing cap and rod cap bolts etc
Q: 37KW how many contactors does the pump need to start directly?
37KW current is about 70 a few A, you can use CJ12-100 contactor, the answer is for reference only, the premise is that the motor limit voltage is 380V.
Q: is there a water pump capable to pump up to 1/4 of an inchsand from 90' deep well?
If the sand is suspended in the water then yes there are pumps that will pump it. Other wise no.
