i have a cocoa color sofa with a shade of brown carpet what color do i paint walls and what color curtains?
Colors that go well with cocoa are: Spicy color combos like: golden tan, rusty red, cinnamon, burnt oranges, sage green, golds, red tones, and coral. Think autumn leaves. Find inspiration in a pillow or from browsing through the Home Decorating section of a fabric store where you will find fabric color combinations to match your couch. You can get some great buys on pillows at T J Maxx, Home Goods and Marshall's. Also, Target and Pier One have some great pillow selections. If you don't like the spicy color pallet, you can select one or a combination of these colors: Creamy Yellow Light Blue Aqua Blue (with a turquoise tinge) Lime Green Coral It is much easier to find patterns and colors in pillows/fabric/curtains first, THEN, find a paint to match instead of the other way around. There is a lot to be said about feature walls painted an accent color, as well. Go to the paint store and select all the shades of paint you like and bring them home. Through the process of elimination, you will have a good idea what you like, right there in front of you. Although it may seem overwhelming, it does not have to be. Simply by finding an inspiration through fabric or art work, the rest is easy and it'll pull everything together for you. Remember, unless you absolutely love it when you see it, move on until you find what you like. Good Luck
Ive been looking at Apartments and one has some real potential except for the fact that the living room has wood paneling on 3 of the walls. So one question is do you think I can put wall curtains on those three walls? Ive seen it done on one wall but never three. Is there any other option I can use to cover the wood paneling like wall paper or something? If not what can I possibly do to make this wood paneling presentable? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Are you renting or buying? I would think this makes a difference to what option you choose. Personally, I don't think curtains on 3 walls would look nice. If you did decide on this option you would have to use curtain rails and make sure the fixings go in to the wall 'behind' the panelling. Or with the weight of the curtains, they would just fall off, leaving holes behind. If you are renting, you would have to check that your Landlord was ok with you doing this. A better option would be to paint over all the panels. You can use any colour you like and apply with a roller. Preperation would be the key to a good finish. You would either have to give all the walls a light sand, or use liquid sand. Which is easy. You wipe on, wipe off, allow to dry and then paint over. If the panelling is completely flat, you could wallpaper over it. Using the correct adhesive. If you have 'grooves' in the panelling, then wallpaper won't work. You would have to cover the panelling in either plasterboard or sheets of plywood first. But again, any fixings would have to go into the wall behind. Is it an option to remove the panelling? Often, panelling has been put up to cover damaged walls. To hide a, 'multitude of sins'. So, you don't know what you might find underneath!!! And it depends how the panelling has been put up. Usually wooden battens are put on the wall first, to fix the panelling too. If it was me, I'd just paint over the whole lot! And maybe have a feature wallpaper on the 4th. wall.
I just moved into our first house. I mostly work graveyards so I usually sleep during the day. We put up some curtains that blocks out the outside light which mostly helps keep the room dark. However, along the side edges of the curtains, they dont sit flat with the wall so light comes through those edges. Is there something I could use to help stick the curtain edges to the wall without ruining the curtains or the paint on the wall? Right now Im using painters tape, but it looks tacky and would like to find something that isnt so obvious.
You could try making little rolls of painter's tape--Pull off 3 inches, and roll it back on itself like a ring shape and stick that along the edges of the curtains underneath so it won't show. Another idea is to extend the curtain rod out a little farther on the wall on each side of the window (My son did this; worked like a charm!) And lastly, try 3M poster tapes. Be sure to follow the directions of rubbing the spot with rubbing alcohol before applying the tape. My daughter's roommate didn't follow that instruction and her posters were down by the next day. My daughter used the rubbing alcohol, and her posters stayed up all year. Good Luck!

Can I go through the stud? Are there any more options for puttig up these curains? Help!
You'll need to take out enough studs to accommodate the door and then you'll need to frame it up as you would a door or window opening. If it's a load bearing wall you'll need to temporally brace the ceiling up before you take the studs out, and do the necessary work. Good luck
