Q: does any one know were a water pump is located on a 97 nissan altima? and where can i get a good deal on one?: the water pump is in the lower unit....hold on, isn't that a car? sure, us boaters are smarter that your average bear, but you'll probably get more useful information by posting your question in the automotive section.

Q: looking for the comparison and then finaly the conclusion about the water pumps instaaled in the IC engines. Where we should stick to the tradional mechanical driven water pumps or electrical water pumps? which one is better!! any information/ response is appreciated: Duh (I have to assume that IC = a engine (as fitted in a car) if there's no fan belt, how would YOU drive a water pump? I suggest the person that asked the question has PEDALS fitted to his/her IC the fan belt went when radiator fans had motors added (which was good as the fan was a unwanted load on the engine ...you only need a fan when stationary)

Q: Does a Insurance policy cover if your Well water pump burns out from power outage and breaks seal and burns motor?: You'd have to read the policy and see what it covers and what it doesn't.

Q: I own a Camaro 1995 V6 3.4L automatic, it was diagnosed that the water pump was leaking and I was going to take it in on Saturday 3/1/08. But this morning I drove it and it seem that the car is losing power the RPM goes all up to 4-5 thousand to make a speed change. The car seems to stall like if it gets stuck the RPM goes up and eventually the next speed kicks in. I will be taking the car in tomorrow 2/27/08 to see whats wrong but I was hoping maybe someone knows whats wrong so that I can have an idea before someone tries to take advantage of me. I do know that the car started leaking water/coolant more than before after that little drive in the morning.The car is very well kept oil change is always on time .I always make sure that the water and the oil is level. transmission fluids are clean. I do know that the EGR Valve needs to be replaced. (hope this info helps)thank you: You may have got it hot and blown a head gasket. That would take away the power as it got hotter.

Q: We lost power during the hurricane, we have well water. the power went out and we lost water also, what are the procedures to bleed and restart a goulds pumps c48a93a06 water pump?: 1. you are going to need at least a couple gallons of water in a bucket to re-prime. 2. look for a plug at the top of the pump and remove it. 3. pour water into the plug opening, filling up the pump as much as you can. 4. put plug back in so at least one thread is grabbing. by doing this it will allow air to escape and won't be spraying water everywhere. it is also a good idea to keep your hand on the plug. 5. turn on electricity to pump. 6. when you start to notice pressure re-gaining tighten up the plug so it does not drip. It is also a good idea to have an outside tap on to get air out of the lines. Another thing is, it is a good idea to shut off water to toilets and washing machines before re-starting pump because small debris have a habit of clogging them up. When your pressure is back, drain your toilet and cold water line to your washing machine, flushing all the stuff out until you see nice clear water. Hope I helped and good luck.

Q: So, my husband and I bought a 1993 Chevrolet Corsica a couple of months ago. This weekend we took a trip that ended up being about 400 miles round trip. About 300 miles into our trip, the Check Engine light came on, but there was no noticable problem with the car, no overheating, no clanking or odd smells, the light went off about 2 minutes later. So we got it home, no problems whatsoever. My husband drove it to work this morning, and we were preparing to go to the store tonight in it, and we noticed a massive amount of radiator fluid under the car and the overflow bottle was empty. The leaking appears to be coming from the engine, and the antifreeze is running down one of the upper belts. Could this be a water pump problem? If so, what is the average cost to repair one (I know water pumps are relatively inexpensive, but we'll need to take it in to a shop). Does anyone have any idea? All replies will be greatly appreciated.: On any pump i have seen, there is a small hole in the back of it. Water/antifreeze will run or spew out of that hole when the engine is running. This is a safety precaution from the manufacturer. Don't know about installation in your vehicle, but it is relatively easy in mine. Everything should be right up front.

Q: I have a 1997 Honda Civic DX and i recently took it in to have its timing belt and water pump replaced. Since then, I have noticed a change in the cars performance. I have lost both gas mileage and power since i took my car in. The maintenance supposedly took the dealer twelve hours to complete which seemed a little odd to me. Do you think this is linked? I just remember getting a lot more miles to a tank of gas, and my car was about the same speed as a friend of mine's who now smokes me. Thank You.: I wouldn't take it back there. Get an independent shop to look at it probably just an o2 sensor or emissions stuff Tell em what happened but point any blame just tell em you want an independent 2nd opinion The timing belt is buried in the block so it is on the long side as far as hours go all the front engine accessories have to come off water pump I hope they didn't double dip you since they had to take off the water pump anyway. Allot of shops try to get away with this charge you hours that weren't actually spent its dishonest but I don't know what the legalities are. Anyway get a second opinion. The poor mileage is probably unrelated check your air filter is about the only owner level thing you can do changing the spark plugs is pretty easy. Its a 97 so it probably needs new ones if it hasn't been done. I would recommend having the fuel filter changed that can effect mileage. Have the shop plug in a scan code reader, they will probably do this first without having to mention it.

What will they cover? Remanufactured limited lifetime warranty. '78 chevy k10 350 sbc: Read the warranty carefully. I doubt they will easily admit their fault and offer to pay for damages. You might have to take them to court, but that means spending money on attorney fees, court fees, and risking losing even more. Tough luck, man.

Q: can bad water pump make car overheat?: The water pump is what moves the coolant through the engine so if it is bad the coolant doesn't get to where it needs to go causing overheating. A bad thermostat will cause the same thing.
