Q: We have an electric sump pump. Battery pumps will only work for two or three days. I want a manual pump that will pump a lot of water. We cannot waterproof the basement because it costs over $10,000. Where can I find a manual pump? Carrying water out in buckets is too slow and exhausting. We carried 80 five gallon buckets out last time the electricity was off for a few hours.
what about a small gas genarator and an extenstion cord?
Q: Hello, i have a 1987 volkswagen cabriolet that i purchased earlier this year. So far its been a pain in the butt. Recently i noticed it overheats real quick, but it didnt use to. then i noticed the coolant/antifreeze was being used up like no other! I discovered, after being parked at work, that it was leaking.it leaks basically anything i put in there now!! it leaks from the water pump housing,.,.... at least thats what the internet said it was.. its leaking from the end of the hose that connects to the engine... (the hose that comes from the coolant reservoir.)What do i do? I dont feel any cracks? does this part crack? is it an o-ring or somehting? I am really absolutely NOTHING ABOUT CARS. Please help!!
HI It is an o-ring Loss the 4 bolts holding the pump and put some silicon glue on the o-ring and get it back.
Q: What's the water pump?
Cooling water pumpDetermination of water replenishing pump1) the hourly flow is 4%~5% and the total water quantity is.2) the lift is the replenishment point and the pressure is plus 30~50 kPa.3] water pump to overcome the pressure of the replenishment point and the pressure difference between the make-up water tank, during which the pipeline is not long, you can ignore its resistance4) open system replenishment, no replenishment pump
Q: i want to make this for a physics project for school. i found a video on how to make it, but i dont understand the physics behind. i have to make a model and a poster explaining the physics. i dont understand what to put on the poster so could someone help me with which physics principles this project would go with?
It isn't practical to give a detailed description here. This is a positive displacement pump. The pump chamber is sealed so that as the piston is moved up the volume within the chamber increases. Water is pushed into this chamber by the outside air pressure. If the pump is located too far above the water source then the air pressure is not sufficient and you will produce a vacuum inside but the water still will not flow. When the pump is pushed down the water flows out. Now the one way valves are critical. We don't want the water to flow back the way it came and we don't want the water that we have already pumped to flow back into the pump. So a one way valve on the inlet will permit water to flow into the pump but not out of it. And a one way valve on the outlet will permit water to flow OUT of the pump but not into it. So with each stroke you a) reduce the pressure in the pump. b) water is forced from the inlet, past its one way valve and then into the pump. c) the pump is pushed down increasing the pressure in the pump. d) water flows out of the pump through the other one way valve and on to the output.
Q: where t is in minutes since the pump is started. If the holding tank contains 1000 liters of water when the pump is started, how much water does it hold one hour later?
Water is pumped out of a holding tank at a rate of 4-4e^(-.14t) liters/minute. Lets call that function w(t). So if we integrate w(t) over a time period that will give us the total water removed over that time period. So lets integrate it from t=0 (time when pump started) to t=60 (one hour later): ∫ w(t) from t=0 to t=60 ∫ w(t)=∫ 4-4e^(-.14t)=4t+(4/.14)e^(-.14t) evaluated from 0 to 60 ∫ w(t)=4(60)+(4/.14)e^(-.14*60)-4(0)-(4/.1... ∫ w(t)=211.435 liters removed If the holding tank began at 1000 liters and 211.435 were removed... Remaining water=1000-211.435 ***Remaining water=788.565 liters***
Q: hiI have very low pressure only on the hot water in my kitchen sink. Cold water is fine. Can anyone recommend a water pump/power shower i can use for boosting my hot water in the kitchen sink tap?Ive already tested the faucet by swapping the water supplies.thanks
Your hot and cold water should be at equal pressures. I suspect you have a restriction in your hot water supply, possibly the under the sink shut off or is semi closed or the hot water tank main shutoff is partially shut off…or the hot water system is clogged somewhere.
Q: It DID start after the Water Pump was put on. And i have not yet been able to detect a vacuum leak. The quot;whistling noiseseems consistent with RPMs, and the quot;dieseling(run-on) stopped in all but a rapid succession of 5 quick ~1-minute start/stops when the engine was fully warmed.. then it minorly ran-on.Could i be driving myself nuts over a Water Pump sound, and if it IS a Water Pump bearing, do i need a new Water Pump?1984 Chevy Camaro. 2.8 V6 carb'd 165,000 miles Auto.
one tell tale sign of a bad water pump bearing can be a sound like a jet engine, but there are other possibilities too, I take a 4 foot length of garden hose put one end on top of what ever bearing you want to check and stick the other end too your ear.a slight hum is a good bearing, noisy bearings are easy to diagnose this way. Just be careful, no loose clothing or long hair near spinning fan and belts, engine has to be running to hear bearing noises. As to the dieseling noises, this is your engine running backwards. this is extremely hard on an engine. Leave the car in gear then turn it off. if its a stick, put it in a high gear let the clutch out until motor stalls. However dieseling is usually related to timing and poor quality fuel. Change to chevron super unleaded, it has techron which will help clean out a dirty fuel system, your vehicle may have a out of time problem, and or tune up issues can cause this. get this fixed, the fuel milege will be a bit better, and your engine will not self destruct. If the noise is in the water pump then replace it. Sometimes a jet engine sound can also be present in the torque converter in a transmission (automatic only)
Q: I have a quot;Rainbow Lifeguard Quiet One 6000external pump that I would like to use on a new chiller for my tank. The pump is rated at a little over 1500 gallons per hour. I'm debating between a couple of chillers, one that has a max flow rate of 1300 gph and another that has a max of 960.I know that you are only supposed to put any valves on the outflow side of the pump and lessening the flow to 1300 from 1500 doesn't seem like it would be that big of a problem, but I was curious it cutting it back to 960 would be hard on the pump in the long run. (I'm leaning towards the bigger chiller as although it may be overkill for my tank, it would let me have a little more water circulation.)
I wouldn't restrict it more than about 10% or so personally. I would ask you to think about this: The rated flow rate on a pump is under perfect operating conditions and is usually a mathmatical model that cannot really be acheived in the real world. Your pump probbaly is several gallons per hours behind that. If the tank is on a stand and the pump on the floor, the head pressure alone may slow it to 1300 or below. Additional tubing, especially hard angles will further reduce the flow. I would suggest you get a flow meter ( you can probably borrow one from a plumber for a day) and test the actual flow rate in your set up. Remember that the chiller will further reduce the flow itself. Odds are good you are closer to the needed 1300 than you think. You can also install a small diverter valve in the line. Basically splitting the output from the pump into two lines. One can carry about 1250 GPH and the other the rest which it just returns to the tank unchilled. Hope that helps MM
Q: What is the difference between a sewage pump and a clean water pump? Why can't sewage be pumped with clean water?
The main difference between water pump and sewage pump is that:Impeller and runner design, as well as other parts of the configuration are very different.1., in order to prevent clogging of sewage pump, the main design of large flow channel, so naturally lead to relatively low efficiency, so the head is generally not high. Clear water pump flow smaller, smaller clearance, the head is relatively high.2. in order to prevent the wound, water pump impeller design is more simple but not ring pump, equipped with tips, cloth and other debris can be crushed after the pump, and the impeller water pump is relatively complex, but the efficiency will be significantly higher than the former. Why can't the sewage water pump and impeller: because features of key design, resulting in water pump for sewage situation is likely to occur, blocking, winding, wear and corrosion occurs, resulting in damage to pump or scrapped, so water pump can not be used for sewage.Sewage pump is a pump and motor conjoined, and at the same time submerged into the work of pump products, and general horizontal pump or vertical sewage pump compared to the sewage pump compact structure, small footprint. The water pump is for the transport of water and physical and chemical properties similar to water and other liquids used, suitable for the industry and the city water supply and drainage, water pressure high-rise buildings, garden sprinkler, fire booster, long-distance transportation, HVAC refrigeration cycle, irrigation, bathroom, cold and hot water circulation pressurization and equipment.
Q: Water pump maintenance what should be maintained?
1 by sound to determine whether the bearing is good. If the sound is abnormal, replace the bearing.2, check whether the impeller is worn, if worn, will affect the flow, lift, efficiency, need to be replaced.3, check whether the mechanical seal can continue to use, can not be used, need to be replaced4, check the oil tank is missing oil, such as lack of oil to the appropriate location.
