More Applications of Universal Windshield Wiper:
- Q: I think about this every morning when I get in the car and I can't see out the back windshield.
- What type of car do you have? In Europe most hatchbacks, estates (station wagons) and SUV's will have a wiper on the rear window. It's only saloon cars (sedans) that don't. I've owned two saloons, one hatchback and am about to take delivery of my first estate. The saloons don't really need a rear wiper because of the aerodynamic effect and the boot (trunk). It doesn't matter how hard it's raining outside, driving along at anything but the lowest speeds will generate enough of a slipstream so that no rain at all will fall on the back window. In fact, even under the worst weather conditions I've found that you get a far better view out of the rear than I ever had with the hatchback. The problem that the hatchback had was the spray from the wheels would be sucked back against the rear of the car and liberally cover the rear window, which was when the wiper really came in handy. However, what you're talking about seems to be condensation on the outside of the car. Really you should deal with that before you get in and drive, together with any condensation on the side windows and mirrors. It's only takes a minute to go round with the rubber-bladed side of a handheld ice scraper and clear all your windows.
- Q: Is there a certain amount of time or just when they start to wear out?
- Yes he's correct. Copper does not go bad, ever. There should be no reason for you to ever replace copper piping unless someone punched holes in it. If some plumber is trying to tell you that you need to replace them, FIND A NEW PLUMBER!
- Q: where is a good place to get windshield wipers put on, and how much are they?
- Use a house thermometer and wait.
- Q: For drivers Ed class I need to do a project on windshield wipers. I really dont know what to talk about though. Any suggestions please?
- For the wheel alignment, it cost me around $280 for my cr-v. SO probably you would spend the same amount. The axel I'm not sure of. You might want to check it from the source I've provided.
- Q: I have a 2003 Hyundai xg350l and the driver side wiper isn‘t getting enough juicegt;
- On average a wiper motor is $100-$150. An hours labor should cover it. Check with your mechanic to find his hourly labor rate. I would also recommend genuine Hyundai parts. Some cheap aftermarket wiper motors are re-manufactured cheaply and often have a short life.
- Q: On my 95 Ford Escort, one day i pulled up on my driver-side windshield wiper because they were frozen. I pulled the wiper in the path it follows on the windshield and it seems to have striped the part it‘s held on to, because it comes out across the windshield and I have to stick my hand out the window to set it back while driving. It also rests up further than the other one when I turn them off. I took off the wiper, set it back down to where it should be and turned them on and they still come out over the side of my windsheild at speeds above 50km/h. Any help on fixing it please?
- sounds like you stripped the splines in wiper arm. there should be tiny ridges on inside of hole on wiper arm. these things are made of crap metal so when you forced it to move without motor on you prolly just torn little teeth off. take arm off look at it if inside is smooth or almost smooth you need to replace arm. hit the junk yard and get another check to see that it is good first. use a small screwdrive or *wince* knife to clean bits off metal out of splines on the motor shaft re-align wiper arm make sure the spline lock together and tighten as tight as you can get it. if its not tight enough the splines will strip off again given some time. The shaft on drive motor is tapered so tighter arm is the better grip splines get.
- Q: Any online stores with great rates on replacement windshield wiper blades? My local superstores always seem to be out of my sizes
- No there isn't something that will make them last any longer with out compromising the effectiveness of cleaning. Wiper blades are supposed to be replace at least once a year and maybe 2 times a year. Do yourself a favor and buy the factory refills from the dealer or buy Rain-X wiper blades. I have purchased just about every blade there is from the cheapo store brand to the triple edge. For my money nothing has worked better or lasted longer than the Rain-X blades. They worked so well I started selling them in our parts department. Every once in a while I'll get a customer that has a blade that is jumping or streaking, and it usually turns out to be a bent wiper arm or worn out spring on the wiper arm.
- Q: How long have automobiles been legally required to have windshield wipers?
- I think that depends on your state but I found this info: Mary Anderson is said to have invented the windshield wiper swinging arm in the United States, where she patented the idea in 1905. The idea was initially met with resistance, but was a standard feature on all American cars by 1916. Thats at least some info
- Q: my car is a mitsubishi lancer evolution 8.i need to be able to go to a parts store in the midwest like NAPA or autozone to get it.priorities are set like this.1. Few (or preferably no) streaking or missed spots2. Durable.and at least acceptable during winter3. Low (or no) noise
- Look on the sidewall. It might be hard to find in small print, but it's there.
