- Q: my windshield wipers sound like they want to work but just wont go up at first 1 would try to go up but now neither will but it sounds like it wants to. I replaced the wiper motor in it and it still is doing the same. Does anyone know what would cause this?
- The wiper motor has a linkage that connects to the wipers on some models there is a transmission that strips out you may find one at a junkyard
- Q: I was cleaning the glass on my windshield this weekend. I proceeded to lift the wiper arm up, perpendicular to the windshield to clean, which I always do. When I did this, I must‘ve moved the arm VERY slightly to the side. Usually, If I had done this, the wiper would stay, but it went loose on me, and moved a tiny bit to the side. It felt loose. I tried operating my wipers from the inside of the car, and the left wiper moved to the left side of the windshield and stopped there in the up position, while the right wiper did it‘s normal thing. I turned off the wipers, and moved the wiper manually back to the position it usually is in when wipers are turned off. Then, I tried it again later today. This time, the driver‘s wiper didnt move at all, instead, only the passenger wiper. Do any of you know what this could be? Mechanical/physical? Expensive/cheap? Thanks!!
- I believe the nut keeping the wiper tight in place is loose causing it to just not move when you turn the wipers on. Look at end of the wiper arm like where it mounts. There is a nut there that is used for adjusting the position of the wipers. If you dont see it right away there could be a little cover that just pops off to get to it. So anyway when you get to it just get a wrench or a ratchet to tighten it up if if its loose which im guessing it is. Thus should solve your problem
- Q: Hi!The front wipers on my 2000 Nissan Xterra make a sound as if they are trying to come on, but they wont move. I‘ve tried tightening the bolts, but that isn‘t the problem. Does anyone know what the problem may be and around how much it would cost to get fixed? I don‘t know much about cars and would rather not be overcharged at a mechanics.
- Could be a couple things. The wiper motor may have gone out, but judging by the fact that there is sound its probably not likely. You may want to check your fuses, and check for any obstructions at the motor-end of the blades.
- Q: What are the best windshield wipers on the market? Please provide me with facts not opinions : )?
- I have found the factory original wipers to be the best. Wash the rubber wiper with a cloth every time you wash the car and they will last a long time. Do not use Bosch. They are expensive and I found them to chatter and fall off the wiper arm. I threw them out after first storm. Do not spray RainX on windshield. It causes the wipers to chatter terribly. Anco is ok. They used to allow for replacement of the rubber only, but now you have to buy the whole arm which costs more money. I would go back to the dealership parts department for blades or use Anco. Don't be surprised if the Anco and Trylon cost more than the dealership.
- Q: My driver side windshield wiper stopping moving on my 1999 Isuzu Trooper. My passenger wiper still moves when I turn my wipers on, but my driver side wiper doesn‘t. It happened the day after a huge freeze. Could I fix it myself or do I need to take it to a mechanic?
- IT COULD BE THAT THAT PLASTIC CLIPS THAT ARE ON THE WIPER ARMS, THAT ARE RIGHT UNDER THE BOTTOM PART OF THE WINDSHIELD BROKE OFF,, TO REPLACE THIS YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE COMPLETE WIPER ARM ASSEMBLY, AND REMOVE THE COVER ,IT IS EASY TO REPLACE DEPENDING ON VEHICLE, SOME CAN BE A BIT TRICKY, BUT NOT TOO HARD,,,,,
- Q: How do rain-sensing windshield wipers detect rain?
- the sensor on the inside of the windscreen sends out infrared radiation that passes through the dry glass. when the outside of the glass gets wet, it scatters some of the IR back to the sensor that detects it and triggers the wipers. IR radiation will pass through glass but is adsorbed and scattered by water.
- Q: It appears to be two places for a windshield wiper arm directly in the middle of the windshield side by side. The knob or motor on the right spins when the wipers are on, but the one located closest to the passenger side which has a windshield wiper arm attached to it does not move at all. What is the purpose for two in the middle, do I need a new motor? Can I just take the arm off and attach it to the knob that is working or will it collide with the driver side wiper? lastly where can I get a replacement arm?
- Did you buy this car used? The Endeavor has a center wiper arm with two pivot points. One is powered the other is free spinning. It sounds like someone installed the wrong wiper arm.
- Q: My windshield wipers have started to work less and less. It‘s only now bothering, but I‘d like to improve their function. Should I clean them or should I replace them (they are 2 and a half years old).Thank you!
- Replace them before they damage your windshield, windshield wipers should be replaced as needed.
- Q: I bought a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt in that year, and I have not changed the wiper blades since. The blades seem to be wearing out (i.e. - They frequently fail to get about 15% of the water off of the areas they traverse), and I want to replace them. I don‘t know anything about windshield wiper blades. First of all, what type of blade does my car use? What is its designation? Secondly, from which stores can I cheaply buy decent brand replacements? Thanks.
- You should be able to purchase wiper blades for just about anywhere. Walmart, KMart, Zellers, Canadian Tire(if you are in Canada), etc. The main concern you need to know is what lenght (inches) each blade is. Also most department stores have a reference book to check the blade lenght. Depending on how much you are willing to pay, the range is vast. I purchase the $5/blade cheepy ones and replace yearly. Some can cost much more and may need to be changed just as frequent. Your choice.
