- Q: My windshield wipers stopped working. I changed the fuse. I can hear the motor but they do not go. What would be the cause? If it is the motor are they expensive for this type of car to replace?
- Looking at the front of your car, behind the hood, is a strip of metal fitted there called a cowl. What you need to do is remove this. I can't remember on that car, but I think its on with screws. Regardless though, it needs to come off. Then turn your wipers on. Look down under where the cowl was. Make sure your motor is running. Make sure the arm coming from the motor is moving. If the motor is running but the arm is not moving, then the attached gearbox is bad. If the arm is moving, then make sure all of the linkage is attached and working properly. From my experience, it's more than likely some of the linkage has done come loose. Sometimes all that is needed is to snap it back in where it goes. Sometimes a plastic keeper may have o be replaced. Anyway, you just have to get in there and take a looksee at what the problem is.
- Q: They only turn on on the high setting, then they don‘t go that fast and they will in the middle of the windshield if I turn them off. What is wrong with them? Is there anything I can do to fix them? If it helps, its a 1997 Honda Accord EX Coupe
- The motor may have failed as it is designed to have two speeds; the low speed also parks the wipers in the correct location when you turn them off. It is possible that there is a power problem as well, check to ensure you are getting power to the low speed side when you turn them on.
- Q: Is there a certain amount of time or just when they start to wear out?
- As soon as they start to show signs of wear or tear. There's no specific time limit, though the older they are the more prone they are to damage. I once racked out a brand new pair of front wiper blades in one winter trip due to the salt and grit on the road. Other than that, they seem to last a year or two for me.
- Q: my windshield wipers, radio, power to my windows and locks went out at the same time
- It could be under the dash drivers side, glovebox, some old ones have them on the fire wall. What year and model is it.
- Q: My windshield wipers on my 1996 Honda Accord just stopped working yesterday and I am trying to check the fuse. When I checked the fuse box, there was no designation for the wipers. Is there an actual fuse for the wipers, or its under another component or name?
- did you check fuses in cab at drivers kick plate
- Q: are windshield wipers coverd under warrenty on a leased 2005 nissan murano??
- No it a wear an tear idem, same as brakes
- Q: How can I do this myself?
- Whenever the rubber starts cracking or they don't clear wht windshield. Autozone has them for about $7 an up. If they aren't too busy, they will install them for free.
- Q: I have a 2003 Hyundai xg350l and the driver side wiper isn‘t getting enough juicegt;
- On average a wiper motor is $100-$150. An hours labor should cover it. Check with your mechanic to find his hourly labor rate. I would also recommend genuine Hyundai parts. Some cheap aftermarket wiper motors are re-manufactured cheaply and often have a short life.
- Q: how do you change a windshield wiper motor in a 1995 ford taurus?
- remove wiper arms remove hood there is black plastic under wiper arms under there is a black cover on the firewall with 1 or 2 bolts in it and on the drivers side there is the motor it has 3 bolts and a wire harness also there is a clip on the wiper motor assembly remove then install in reverse
- Q: They worked like a month ago, but now when I turn them on they won‘t move. If I turn them on and pull on the wipers by hand they‘ll go up and down once or twice then stop moving even in the up position. It‘s on a 1989 Chevy S-10 2WD.
- wiper motor itself is getting weak and needs replaced
