More Applications of Universal Windshield Wiper:
- Q: its for a 1983 chevy blazer and the windshield wipers do not work and I don't know if it's the motor or somthing else? please help!?
- 26 Years Old. Should not Move because of the way it's mounted but Turn/Rotate when turned off Yes. If your wiper motor is locked up it's Bad, if Rotates but not working running a jumper to the motor to see if it's still good.
- Q: I recently bought a new 2009 Toyota Sienna two months back. Recently when it rained a lot, I switched the windshield wiper to high and found to dismay that it just gets stuck. It works fine at lower settings.Does anyone have similar experience? Any idea what is wrong?
- Sounds like there is a problem with your wipers. Take it back to Toyota and have them fixed. Its under warrantymd
- Q: Hi!The front wipers on my 2000 Nissan Xterra make a sound as if they are trying to come on, but they wont move. I‘ve tried tightening the bolts, but that isn‘t the problem. Does anyone know what the problem may be and around how much it would cost to get fixed? I don‘t know much about cars and would rather not be overcharged at a mechanics.
- Linkages from the motor to the wiper baldes may have worn out and fell off. Remove both aiper arms 14mm nut and remove the black panel ahead of the windshield order both of the linkage rods remove the three bolts holding the wiper motor to the passengers side fire wall and snap on the new linkages. Most of the time I see wiper links fall off is when some one starts the wipers while the blades are frozen to the glass. Cold Out?
- Q: I turn on my windshield wipers and they dont‘ move up or down. Is this just a minor problem? If so, is it possible for me to fix it on my own?
- See if you can wire the pump straight to the battery, that'll tell ya if the pump is dead or not. Did you use GOOD wiper fluid? Even in the summer I only use fluid that's good to -20*, a chunk of ice will stop the pump or plug the lines, if it gets really cold the pump can freeze and it's got a plastic body so it CAN break. If the pump still works you could have a blockage at the nozzles, remove the hoses under the hood take a plunger to those nozzles and try to force the clog backwards through them Always read the label before pouring wiper fluid in it If it is a dead pump you should go to a good auto parts store and you can order a direct replacement, it's a lot easier to replace it with the exact replacement rather than getting a cheap aftermarket pump
- Q: I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma. Even after putting on a brand new pair of windshield wipers, they still streak, don‘t get a clear smudge-free wipe. Is there an adjustment I can make to the wiper arms to improve the wiping action?
- I believe that what your father was told is true. Better to drop the pan and change the fluid -- you still get most of the old stuff out, without the risk.
- Q: I have a ‘98 Blazer. The windshield wipers worked off and on. sometimes they wouldn‘t turn on and sometimes they wouldn‘t turn off. Sometimes they would only come on if I set it to high. Ok, so that‘s not really what I need to fix at this point. So, I was terribly frustrated by this and had PMS.Well my point is, I tried to force them to work by grabbing the base of the wiper arm and pulling it up. I heard a nice big satisfying (at the time) crack. Well, them the *%#$ thing was stuck in the up position right in my line of vision. So I then forced it back down and heard another (not so satisfying this time) crack. Now it‘s pushing down hard against the bottom (that piece between where the windshield meets the hood). Any ideas on what I actually broke and how much it might be to fix it? :)
- Oh boy! Sounds as if you broke the wiper arm actuator rod(s) on the windshield motor. Ouch, to say the least in cost of parts AND labor. The only way to fix the problem now would be to take off the wiper arms, remove the panel covering the motor and rods and check which ones are broken beyond hope of repair. And it's not the easiest job in the world either to boot. Now, that's just the wiper rods and motor. From the sounds of the ORIGINAL problem, you were having an intermitant wiper control problem with the control lever in and on the steering wheel column. That's an easy fix. The part(s) are cheap too. The only real problem there is having the tools to pull and re-install the steering wheel. To fix it all, I'd say your looking at around four to six hundred bucks with labor.
- Q: My windshield wipers are stuck in the upright position on my 2001 Pontiac Montana and they wont return to the right position. They work fine when I‘m using them, but when I turn them off they return to the upright position. I took out the fuse, and that is not the problem. Any ideas on why they would stay that way and any suggestions as to how to fix it would be great.
- You probably have moisture on the circuit board that is bolted to the wiper motor. You can take it off and clean it with electrical contact cleaner and reseal it with a little RTV when you put the cover back on. That is the same problem I had with mine. I found a new motor and board at NAPA for $80.00 but tried cleaning mine first and it has been fine for 4 months now. If you do try to clean it make sure you mark where the wiper cam and wiper motor shaft so you line them back up right when you put them back together.
- Q: I bought a used Accord about 3 months ago, and I have noticed that, when I use the wipers, they make a loud banging sound when returning to their original position. They do a good job of clearing off the water, though, and the bang only seems to happen when I‘m driving (if I‘m sitting still at a light, the bang is noticeably reduced). What would be causing this? Should I get new wipers? Is it a motor issue?
- It's important that you make sure that your windshield is very clean and free from wax and regular road grime. You can buy a regular windshield cleaner or I use alcohol pads to really get mine clean. I also use these pads to clean the blade itself every now and then as a precaution. The Rain-X is a really good idea too.
- Q: I put new wiper blades on my windshield wipers and now when it rains the wipers are ‘shuddering‘ or ‘skipping‘ across the windshield. What is wrong? how can i stop this?
- it ought to be the windshield has been contaminated with tree sap or pollen, or the blades are in simple terms dry. attempt utilising the wipers and hit the washing gadget fluid button to assist lube them. If the noise is going away, then the blades are in simple terms dry. as a strategies because of the fact the contaminants on the glass itself, attempt utilising a paint clay bar, this receives rid of each and everything on the glass and grants a stunning tender floor for the blades to swipe over removing that shudder sound. solid luck
