Q:2007 Honda Fit Sport - Automatic - 36,000. My driver windshield wiper does not work at all. It doesn‘t even move. Passenger wiper works fine. Any ideas as to what it might be? I don‘t want to take it to the dealer and pay an arm and a leg on something that I can possibly fix myself.: Linkage probably fell off inside. Thats what it usually is when only one works. Sometimes the wiper arm itself strips out on the nub that sticks out of the cowl and turns. But thats more rare.

Then take a rag and soak it in the rubbing alcohol and wipe the blades several times. That should work. If you use the orange colored rainx wiper solvent it tends to smear more then the blue stuff. Watch where you park. It sounds like something gets on the windshield to cause the problem.

Unscrew screws holding wiper transmission cover off.they're on the fire wall holding the grill looking cover to the body where the wiper arm mounts come through. Lift up on windshield molding where grill slides in and look for screws.If there aren't any pull grill off car. If there are screws unscrew and continue. Remove bolt or Allen screw holding wiper assembly to the wiper motor. Pull transmission off wiper motor. Disconnect any clips that hold wiper transmission to anything and pull wiper assembly( wiper transmission out.)

Q:i own a 2001 chevy blazer. my drivers side windshield wiper is not working correctly. when i turn them on it only goes approximately half way down the windshield. this then causes it to move off the side of the glass and it wont wipe the bottom half. the other wiper works just fine. it does this at random times. i could please use some ideas on what the problem is. please and thanks: The wipers are connected to the drive via wheel boxes - sounds like the drive shaft nut is loose (wipers not in correct position) and wheel boxes loose or worn out ( working intermittently) Start from the motor and tighten all nuts and bolts on linkages and wheel boxes. When done you may still have to park the wipers properly and reset positions as previous answer. If they are just plumb worn out replace everything with auto dismantlers parts. Remove wiper blades before working to avoid scratching paint and be carefull poking about under hood when wipers on - some linkages could easily trap fingers and they are always hard to see/reach The motor is surprisingly powerfull

Q:What causes wipers to skip over the windshield?: I have only seen two reasons for this happening. The first is dirt on the windshield that needs to be removed the old fashion way. Things like dried on bug juice and tree sap. A good no ammonia window cleaning solution and a non abrasive scrub pad will do the job. The other is high cross winds and/or high speed driving. In this case a wind deflector build into the windshield wiper arm may help, but not always. Slowing down works better, high speed is an unneeded risk and high winds that can cause this problem also present challenges that require a lower speed of travel.

When turned on, they function normally but when turned off, instead of running through the cycle and then going down, they cycle then go up.: Not sure what sort of car you own, but some GM models have a pretty in-depth way of clocking the wipers. You will need a repair manual to do it properly, I have been working on them for 23 yrs, they still are hard to get clocked properly. You nay want to just pay a technician to do it right. Its not a bad motor, switch , etc, it just needs to be clocked on the wiper motor and your problem will be solved. The most common vehicles are usually the montana, transports , grand prix, regals, etc. Good luck

If you are in an accident in the rain, you will be charged. If you can only see reasonably well, you can't see. If you can see better with no wipers than with, you have old worn-out wipers on your car, which is also against the law. For ten bucks or so, you can see again, fool. Don't they teach you anything basic in driver's ed? I'll bet you think as long as your tires hold air and you haven't slid off the road yet, they are still good even if they are bald, too.
