Q: i have a 83 olds delta that is missing the factory windshield wiper switchwhich is to say the least hard to find. as it is a cruise control, blinker, and wiper switch in one i have decided to run the wipers to a seperate toggle though in doing this i copuld not find any power source hot wire with a test light. which led me to believe that the power is not even ran to the motor, as im sure the fuse is in good condition. i then removed the wiper motor only to find that the main drive gear or (whatever the actual moving mechanisim is called) willl not turn at all when tried by hand. so to the question.i have now bought a new wiper motor (without a delay) and was wonder if i could hook it directly to the battery through a completely seperate fuse and to the toggle. and how would this be done. which wires would i have to splice in order to run power and ground?
Hi there first you will need three wires for wiper motor, one feed from ignition circuit which covers the wiper parking circuit to motor an earth wire and a wire running to toggle switch, the other side of the toggle switch will run to ignition circuit do not use battery circuit as it could cause you a lot of problems Jock
Q: I (read as: my honey, but it‘s my car) put new ones on last night and what a difference! It‘s raining today and there are no lines on the windshield and spots where the wipers just didn‘t work.Woo!
I replaced my own - independent woman that I am - about a month ago It is wet season here in Queensland and I was getting sick of getting caught in the rain thinking to myself 'I must replace those bleeping wipers!!'
Q: They won‘t come on! Ever since the temperature has been freezing and we got snow.
All contribute to backpressure. Even just the pipes. On a car that long the pipes alone would provide enough backpressure, unless you used some huge diameter pipe.
Q: Im not quite sure of the reasoning behind this. Can someone fill me in?? Im sure its a common sense reason, but for some reason, It‘s flying over my head.
Generally, the visibility during rain (or snow) decreases and therefore having your lights on will help other motorists see you. That's probably the reasoning behind it. Many new cars nowdays have automatic headlights that come on during rain, snow, sunset, or whenever the sensor detects decreased visibility and outside light.
Q: I have a VW jetta 1996, i recently bought. I noticed I am completely missing one of the windshield wipers (the passenger side) and the one wiper (driver side) only works on high. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? And any part‘s ill need. Thank you!
Have you got the wheelbox? This is the lump that sticks out of the bodywork and holds the end of the wiper arm. If that's missing, have a delve inside and see if there's any connection for it. If it's there and it works, you'll need a wiper arm and blade. If the wiper(s) park correctly when switched off then you'll need to have an auto-electrician look at the wiper motor and gearbox. If the wipers don't park, you'll probably need a new wiper motor. You'll NEED to get a good workshop manual to help you. Good luck!
Q: Does it only come in an assembly or can it be installed alone?
It will run in the range of 75-85 dollars depending on the place of purchase. It comes alone and is very easy to change on this model vehicle. One thing is to be sure to take the old one off and take it with you to the place of purchase to compare the motors. There are two different types for this year. I would also check some salvage yards, there cheaper and some places already have the part removed or will remove it at your request. Most of the salvage yards give a 30 day warranty at a third of the cost.
Q: Ok, so I changed out my wiper blades, and finally after 3 weeks, we had rain. Well, I never have good luck with replacing the blades, becuz now the wipers jump when I turn them on. (even though they are new!) Does anyone have any suggestions? My wiperblades were 2 years old, so I knew they needed to be replaced, but they were just starting to get bad. Now I‘m dealing with terrible wipers. I‘d love to be able to put something on them to make them run smoothly, instead of replacing them.
That's very strange that after fitting brand new wipers, the problem is worse. Are you sure they are fitted correctly, and the clips are properly done up? If they are not fitted perfectly then this could well be why are not working correctly. Here is a guide on fitting windscreen wipers step by step. Just double-check they are on correctly first. www.i-need-wipers .uk/fitting-guide/bosch-super-plus If you still have no joy, give your windscreen a really good clean, and then clean the windscreen wiper rubbers with vinegar (it works really well). If the wipers and the windscreen are still poor, you should look at the wiper arm springs, and if they still have lots of tension in them and are holding the wipers down to the screen well, investigate the wiper motor as a potential problem.
Q: it must be hard to see ( 0) ( O )
Planes fly at around 300 knots. The wipers would be forced closer to the windshield with that speed, rather than away from the windshield.
Q: So, my grandpa‘s Ford Crown Victoria the wiper completely lifts off the driver‘s side window while going anywhere between 40+ MPH. The car has over 200K miles on it. I no that they are loose but can you tighten them or does the spring need to be replaced. I no for a fact its not the wipers themselves because they are new and the beam style blade kind. Its very dangerous because its like driving with no wipers! Thanks!
go to the auto parts store and buy some snuggies that you put over the wiper arm. it only takes a few minutes to install, they act like a spring , but are a lot easier to install.
