Q: I just replaced the exhaust system in my car, no upgrades just the same type of system, and have been experiencing problems ever since whenever the car is running but not moving. It jerks forward in pulses and I heard and felt the AC compressor shut off. Any ideas or thoughts as to what the problem is?
You have mirrors for a reason, use your side and rear view mirrors. And your driving forward, your less likely to need them behind you unless your driving in reverse, so use your mirrors for that. otherwise its more important to have the mirrors on the front so you don't crash into anything or anyone. You can hear the cars behind you especially the motorcycles, you don't need to watch out for them behind you. Plus the defrost works fine and fast so i do not see the need for windshield whippers in the back if you can use your defrost just fine. Raybay-- You have to think about when the automatic lights came out (they came out at different dates for certain dealers), all the models before that were not made with them because of the timing of the automatic lights. Also not all dealers use the same regulations for cars, so you also have to ask which dealers would have automatic lights. Plus each dealers invents their own automatic light, so those that were behind had to catch up on it.
Q: Subaru needs to check the vehicle emissions system
Emission system is generally three-way catalytic converter, air-fuel ratio, oxygen sensor, fault, the main reason is to add the quality of gasoline caused by poor, hoping to help you solve the problem, I wish you a happy car! happy everyday
Q: I have a ‘94 F-150 and I just noticed that the muffler has holes and the rest of it is in bad condition so I am going to replace it all. The previous owners got aftermarket exhaust and it is all welded on. The Haynes manual can‘t tell me how to do it because the stock exhaust was clamped on. Thanks!
Since you're replacing it, just go ahead and remove it with any means available to you. You shouldn't need to make more than two cuts to remove the exhaust pipe, muffler, and tailpipe. If the brackets / hangers are in okay shape you may want to save them.
Q: i‘m getting a new exhaust system (FM 70 muffler, o2 sensors, and tailpipe) but not the cat. convertor. will this rob it of power or sound different w/ a stock cat.?
Depends on your State emissions requirements of what stock was on it. In most cases yes you are robbing hp not reprint it but some states do not have huge requirements So u might not miss much
Q: I have a 2001 suzuki sv650 6sp carb fuel system with a v-twin motor fyi. the header system has 4 cracked areas, two of which that are 1/4 inch thick and about 1 inch long. sounds nasty too. what kind of negitive affect does this have on the motor and carbs if any at all? thank you in advance :) hope your doing well.
Above called that one. ^ Every time you cut the throttle cold air rushes in to the exhaust valve area. Makes the valves twice as hot. This will burn them up and cause motor failure. Fix ASAP.
Q: should I install aftermarket muffler?
The reason is you only went slightly bigger then stock. The stock exhaust was likely 2.25 inch and most of the Magnaflow systems are 2.5 inch. A 3 inch exhaust would be louder and cost more to purchase. You should now have a cold-air intake installed to take advantage of the airflow in and out.
Q: I have a 2007 v6 mustang and I recently got a Pypes true dual exhaust kit making it, dual exhaust from the stock single exhaust and giving it a much better sound. i can see the mpg I get on the dash and I was used to seeing 16-19 but when I looked it said 13.8. I have had the exhaust for less them a week and sure, I‘m being a little harder on the gas to hear the noise but a loss in mpg is a lot to lose just to be a little harder on the pedal. my hypothesis is that I am losing back pressure/force because the air is coming out two pipes instead of one, but I am no car expert at all. why is this happening? and how can I fix it?
First of all, what you said is correct. A true dual exhaust system will drastically reduce back pressure, but this does not hinder fuel efficiency. In fact, it actually assists fuel efficiency, as the less back pressure translates to less effort the engine has to make to expel waste gases. Theoretically, your car should run better, but your car's computer, the ECU, is still programmed for the stock exhaust. This may cause the slight decrease in fuel efficiency (which in addition to your heavier throttle produces the results you see). The simple solution to this is to have either a Ford Dealership, or a Ford-specialized auto shop find a program to tune your ECU (or reflash the ECU) to accommodate a catback exhaust system.
Q: I am going to buy a magnaflow exhaust, dc headers, and an aem cold air intake. I saw pics of these, looks pretty good condition, reason for selling : Owner has a new car he wants to mod up. I will be meeting with him today to hear it. So what are some things i should look at and listen too?
Yeah, copper is expensive and soft. It's never used for construction; only for its electrical qualities. Aluminium and steel are preferred contstructive materials.
Q: I have a 1986 Chevy Caprice 8Cyl. 5L. Gas, Carb: VINH That has a exhaust system with a Catalytic Converters and a muffler.(Only one pipe) I want my car to run better and go a little faster. What should I buy? And can I upgrade anything else to make it faster? P.S. I just put a new holley carburetor in and the motor is only 3yr. old.
put on a set of exhaust headers with a dual 2.5 exhaust system and flowmaster super 44 mufflers, also get a KN air filter for your carb, that should give you a good taste of more speed.
Q: I need a relatively cheap performance exaust system for my 1995 Buick Century. Not too cheap that it will be crap, but not way too expensive that I would have to make payments on it for the next 10 years lol.I'm only 17 so I can't afford something uberly expensive. The reason I'm asking you guys is because I'm sure you know 30 times as much as I do about cars.
you'll have a hard time finding a exhaust system for that car and it won't be cheap no matter how you cut it, BUT if you go to Advance auto they do sell just mufflers from flowmaster. you could buy one and have it installed. that would get you a little, but really you need a mitsu lancer, honda civic or chevy cavalier/cobalt to have alot of tuner stuff available for it.
