- Q: I am trying to areting my pond but air pump cost too much. I have an extra water pump available if I make two intake opening, one for water the other for air, would it work? or will it blow up the pump and kill all of my koi because it is made for pump water.
- The only difference between a water pump and an air pump is the pressure difference between the two ends and hence across the longitude of the pipe. Air requires less pressure difference, it will pass across anyways. Now, if the pressure difference is too high (i.e. its a water pump perhaps) then the air will go past quite quickly and there is danger of actual overheating, as the kinetic energy of the air molecules will go very high. (Kinetic energy is proportional to temperature). Overheating results in possible hazards for the pond and also fluctuations in the pipe, whereas it COULD possibly (haven't done exact calculations) burst.
- Q: Why should we pump water into a pump when the country uses a pump to pump it?
- Because it is not a self-priming pump, so add water, otherwise there is no pressure can not afford
- Q: Submersible pump reverse impact on the pump
- Small amount of water, large current, long running time, easy overheating, or even burning pump.
- Q: 1.5KW water pump caliber is 40, what is the flow rate?
- Caliber 40 pumps, 1.5KW model IRG40-160A, flow 5.9 cubic meters, 28 meters per hour head
- Q: How to measure the temperature of pump body?
- Buy an infrared thermometer
- Q: I had to have my water pump replaced on my '95 Saturn because the car was leaking coolantFirst, why does the coolant leak with a bad water pump? Second, I paid $250 part and labor. Did I get screwed or is that pretty fair?
- Sounds like a fair price. Sometimes water pumps will get a crack, or they will leak from the bearing area. If you know how to use a wrench you can probably do it yourself, I have done it several times on my cars. But $250 doesn't sound too bad. The pump was probably about $50 to $75, plus you have to pull the pump off from below, so if you don't have jack stands or tools, it may be worth a hundred bucks or so to let someone else do it.
- Q: 95 mustang leaking water pump changed the pump and its running backward now
- Belt is routed incorrectly. Do not feel bad as this is actually a common mistake. Another possibility is the Parts Store sold you the wrong pump. This engine (5.0 I assume) was availiable in multiple vehicles and the Mustang was the only one I know of that had some that turned backwards
- Q: I had my timing belt replaced @ 80k (now have 138k) and was told by new mechanic that the water pump was not replaced then. Do I need to have pump replaced? What will happen if I don't? Thx
- Pump is leaking if you see water, other than A/C under car or coolant is constantly getting low. If water pump goes car will over heat and can leave you stranded. If you are not going to keep car for more than a year don't worry about either unless pump is bad. If pump is bad just change the pump. No need to pay for timing belt if your not going to keep car. If Mech. scared you get a second opinion or take your Dad with you because some people will try and take advantage of females about cars, and I did say some not all.
- Q: Is it a must to change the entire water pump since only driplets of anti-freeze leak out over a 7day period from the bottom of the pump? Can i simply change the gasket and make it all better? Water pump is pumping and making no noise, vehicle isnt over heating.
- That drip is from a weep hole at the bottom (Underside) of the water pump it is designed to start to leak when the bearing on the water pump is wearing out. It will need to be changed. IF it is truly the gasket that is leaking then take the cheap insurance while you have it apart and put a new water pump on anyway. It just may be the best time to do so on a 2002 vehicle and could keep you from having trouble later down the road
- Q: I getting some work done to my like replacing the timing cover gasket, oil pan gasket and the water pump gasket...the mechanic I talked to said I need to replace this as well; my thing is the water pump is fine..should I take his advice?
- What a better time to do it unless of course you are selling it this month. Mechanic is right in saving you money in the future.
