Q:how to replace water pump in a 96 F150?
1. drain coolant 2. remove engine fan and clutch assembly 3. remove radiator hose connection at water pump 4. remove water pump 5. clean water pump to engine mating surfaces 6. install water pump with water pump gasket 7. rest of installationin reverse order of removal
Q:I drive a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander and I am required to change my timing belt as part of preventive maintenance. When I had been to Firestone, they quoted $998 for Timing Belt Water Pump (both parts labor). When I called Midas, they quoted $550 for the same. Does anyone know why there is such a big difference? I have been a regular at Firestone, so Midas is new to me. Are they reliable? Midas is quoting low now, but would there be a surprise charge after I get it done? BTW, how is a water pump related to a timing belt??
When you remove the timing belt cover, then the water pump is internally built into the engine block. It is a couple hours work, so you don't want to pay that labour charge again...6 months later for a water pump problem. Honestly.. a rubber timing belt is about 35 dollars. and a water pump is about 65 dollars. And the labor is about 3 hours maximum. Any good mechanic can do this in the driveway. So... don't feel any loyalty at all to Firestone or Midas, or uncle Louis if you can save some money. There is absolutely NO delicate adjustments, or computerized readings necessary to do this work. $998?? that's the price for lonely women who don't have a father or boyfriend to help them. Yeah... you teen-age mechanics can give me all the thumbs downs you like. I've done a few belts and water pumps. It's a few hours, but easy! THE WATER PUMP NEVER HOLDS THE TENSION ON THE BELT. That is the tensioner pulley, a separate item. teenage armchair mechanics!
Q:motor overheats but no leak. water just boils in resorvoir. is it hard to do it on my own?
ummm please make sure you have proper coolant and not just water in your rad
Q:My water pump is starting to leak. The shops are quoting $250- $300 to replace but I can buy a water pump at the auto parts store and install myself for less than $100 but I don't know what all is involved with this repair or if I should try (my only experience with car repair up to now is recently replacing the alternator). If anyone has done this please let me know what you think. thanks

Q:We're doing some droplet impact experiments and are creating the flow of water to our droplet generators by elevating our source of water. Unfortunately as the water depletes the pressure changes. We need to siphon off the water from our lower basin where the water collects and pump it back up to the source (around 6-8 feet up). What kind of pump do I need for this?
I presume you can’t use city water! Droplets probably mean very small water flow. You can try local used merchandise store. Often they have waterpik systems for a few $ They are piston type pump that means the output will be pulsating instead of continuous. Another option is a windshield washer pump. These are gear type, so provide a continuous flow. You would need a variable power supply to control the pump speed, therefore the flow. Good luck Hope this answers your question
Q:Hello, I'm having an issue with grinding/metallic noise from engine bay. Alternator was replaced today and didn't fix. However, when I got the car back from the garage the oil level indicator is saying quot;inactivequot;. I seem to find some answers on the web that say the oil level indicator is in some way connected to the water pump. Car has 95k miles on and I doubt it had been changed. Could this be the cause of the noise? And could anyone possibly tell me which pulley it is on the belt? Many thanks for your time :)
Alternator replaced? Will you be getting credit back for that? Anyway, at 95k it's almost about time to do a full preventive maintenance thing. That includes the water pump, belts, radiator hoses, I would do the tensioner and idle pulley too since one is there already. Would replace the radiator expansion tank too. Change the spark plug and valve cover gasket too while you are at it. The spark plug can be done separately, but it's time to replace them.
Q:noise when i acclerate you cant hear it as much because of engine noise but when its at idle the squealing noise is somewhat loud does anyone know what it could be ? its not the water pump because i bought it new and im not overheating and the belts arent too tight either i have already checked them
did u get a mechanic to do it? or do it your self? in case you had a mechanic do it, ask them to restoration it in case you had no issues previous. ought to be thermostat, ought to be you dont have sufficient coolant in radiator or perhaps appropriate coolant to water ratio. All i understand is you need to bleed out the radiator to get rid of all air after water pump is taken off and placed back on, because might reason issues aswell. ok nicely you in basic terms as much as date it, so i'm too, your mechanic sounds like a dumb ****, he might desire to have bled air out of radiator, the certainty he instructed you is strange, might desire to have fastened it then and there. that's an considerable step of fixing water pump. If there is air in it, your radiator and water pump wont be rotating the water correct. tell him to restoration it and say you probably did your study and you at the instant are not paying yet another cent!
Q:I'm not too familiar with computerized cars, just wondering if the water pump going out would cause the car not to start?
No. Do you have power? Battery, alternator. Does it crank? Starter, solenoid, wiring, ignition. If all the above is ok, then what's left is air, fuel, and fire. You need all these to have a running vehicle. Fuel system-pump, filter, pressure regolator... Air-filter, maf sensor... Fire- plugs, wires, cap/rotor...
Q:I've noticed after driving my car for a while recently it squeals while accelerating. I'm wondering if its the water pump cause I've had a coolant leak for a while. I poured alluminum sealer in the reservoir and its stopped the leak almost completely though. If it was a broken pump, would this sealer have stopped the leak like it has? I drive a 2000 saturn sl2

Q:The water pump needs to be able to pull up water roughly 8+ feet. Ideally the system should include a filter to eliminate the presence of jellyfish. I need the most cost efficient solar panels with wattage provided. The battery used would be something similar to a deep cycle marine battery. Additionally I must figure out the amphours. Does anyone know where I can look up previously constructed systems or my best method of approach. Whom should I seek help from? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The price range we're looking at is around $1000.
This okorder / Most of what you need as far as the electrical side of this project should be on my site... As far as the aquarium design and choosing the pump, you're on your own. :)
