Q: I have 2004 Chevy Trailblazer V8 4x4 that the water pump went out on. Does anyone know how long it takes to change it and where it is located? The dealer wants $750.00 to fix it. I really don't want to get riped off.
Well havnt taken one off of a trail blazer but they are all basic.except on transvers engines the kind that sitfrom right to left, get the book on it and follow the directions you can do it. It takes time and its kinda funky but you can do it. The only thing that concerns me is that you dont know where it is at. Hey why dont you call around some shops are price different. Was this a dearler price? California shops charge about 75 to 90.00 per hour. It would take about 2.5 to 3.5hours for the job plus the pump get a good one.
Q: was told by a Toyota Service that this would only be 1 hour more labor and cost me about 140 dollars more..and that they always recommend it being done same time as timing belt and water pump replacement....but is really a good idea or not? (if engine is 20 years old..but has ony 150 ,000 miles on it..btw. this is for a 94 Toyota 4 Runner V6 engine
The genuine AISIN timing belt water Pump kit is about $140 at ROCK AUTO! It is NOT necessary to replace the VALVE SEALS! This usually requires removing the YIELDING HEAD to do this! The OI OIL PUMP SEAL would be LEAKING BADLY by now, and it is BEST not to disturb it, if it was NOT LEAKING! Many times they DAMAGE the SEAL housing and cause MORE trouble than it is WORTH! Use the RIGHT type of SYNTHETIC OIL at oil change time with the TOYOTA approval spec numbers printed on the LABEL! I would clean your THROTTLE BODY and IDLE AIR CONTROL valve instead! UUSUALLY, they want you to replace the CAM seals and NOT the oil pump seals WEIRD! IN detorit the 3.0 engien TIMIGN BELT and WATER PUM Preaplcements cost about $750 at either LEXUS or TOYOTA dealership! WOW! I wodu lNOT disturb the seals if they are NOT LEAKING by now! This is NOT a cavlier or PINTO here! The PRECISON with wich a TOYOTA engein is amde and the MATERIALS they have tested and PROVEN to be GREAT should NOT leak in ANOTHER 150k miles! Get a MOTOR FLUSH and retin the ORIGNAL seals! GOOD LUCK!!
Q: I did change water pump before but not on wv beetle?
If okorder , I have serious doubts about your doing a timing belt which has to come off and go back on to do the water pump. I also can't picture a water pump going bad in under 15 years or 150,000 miles. Spendy job, so please be sure before disassembling. OH and if you mess up on the timing belt you can bend the valves and cost yourself around 1,500 US dollars. ASE Cert Auto Tech, 92 GTI 16V 2.0L
Q: We usually wait 4 - 5 minutes for hot water in our master bath. I've been looking into ricirculation pump systems. This would have to be a retro-fit system since some of the lines run through concrete slab making adding a return loop on the line non-feasible. I have found some people comment on simply using a by-pass valve system without a pump (ie. Hot Water Lobster). We do have hard water which I've also read that can present a problem with pumps dieing quite quickly. While I'd like it, I don't need 1 second hot water, but I can't stand wasting gallons waiting for 4-5 minutes. A reasonable 15-30 second wait would be a huge improvement. Has anyone had reasonable success with the bypass valve without the pump or should I plan on getting the pump too? Thanks in advance!
A by-pass without a pump is going to do nothing. The pump moves the water from the heater to your sink. They do have the under counter heaters, but you need to have them plumbed for gas or have electrical run to them.
Q: Car started making noises right after hitting deer, week later car that has never had a problem began to overheat and mechanic says water pump went out and that it has nothing to do with hitting the deer.
It could have had something to do with it if the radiator was damaged. This is the problem with new cars everything is hidden so you need to replace a half dozen good parts so you can fix the one thats bad. In the not to long ago days you would have went to the auto store, plunked down about $20.00 for a new pump went home and after taking out maby 4 bolts, had the new one on and been back on the road in an hour or so. If your not old enough to remember those days then it doesn't matter. Your going to pay maby 6-8 hundred dollars to replace a 50 dollar part.
Q: Hi I just brought a chrysler sebring V6 that needs a water pump. I found a water pump on OKorder for only $30 and it only had 900 miles and it works great. Should I buy it?
no always go new with water pumps. not a re-man either. always go new, especially with a timing belt driven pump
Q: When I buy submersible pump, the other party did not inform is the aluminum submersible pump, water pump factory production of aluminum submersible pump illegal? Is it against the law to sell the pump to the pump without informing me?
When buying, if you ask for a copper wire or a wire, and don't answer you, it's against the principle of good faith. On the contrary, if you did not ask to buy the water pump with aluminum core, then there is no violation. Because the country does not have any laws and regulations prohibiting the production of aluminum core wire motor, naturally there is no aluminum wire motor as a fake and shoddy products, there is no pre notice obligations. In fact, the aluminum core motor is good, and the price is low, especially in the dry environment of small and medium-sized motors, with good performance. Only used in submersible pumps, because aluminum is easier to damp than copper wire, due to bacteria and other corrosion, and its life is sometimes less than copper wire. But the water pump, aluminum often needs to rewind coil, because of a small submersible pump motor is not good around general scrap.
Q: the outboard runs fine and pumps water out with muffs on but when i put it in the water it doesn't pump any water at all. could it be that the impeller needs replacing? what do you think?thanks
No question about it. Replace the impeller. It's easy - the hard part is getting the fasteners off without breaking a stud. Be patient and use liquid wrench and give it an hour or more to work. Tap the nuts and then try them. A final resort would be careful (very careful) use of a propane torch to free the nuts. If not replaced, eventually blades will break off the impeller and foul the cooling system.... which can be a very expensive and difficult repair.....overheating is also very bad for the engine.... so fix the water pump.
Q: What is the average life of a water pump in a car?
to many factors to consider such as: materials used for pump, pump design, the engine operator's driving habits. You could have had the wrong belt put on and that would effect pump life. There are just to many variables. I'd say over 60,000 easy. Most pumps come with LLT Warranties b/c you should only have to replace one once.
