Q: how long to replace a engine wire harness on a 1999 sonoma
Depends on experiance and extra options from purchase. Anywhere from 2-6 hours
Q: I have a 5spd integra (98), I might be getting an excellent deal on an automatic shell thats in mint condition (way better condition then mine) I was wondering if i did the auto to manual swap if I could just swap my manual harness into the auto instead of cutting the auto harness. I've looked online and I haven't read much, if any, information on this.
You should be able to swap out the wiring harness without a problem. Might be a bit of a headache but be sure to take your time and mark where everything goes. Take pictures if you can and use masking tape [folded over the wire and onto itself] to mark the various connectors.
Q: i am putting a new stereo into my 05 chevy colorado and before i buy a wiring harness i need to know if i accually need one since i do not have onstar?
That's your power wire. It should go to the corresponding power wire in the wiring harness. If you are not using a wire harness, you have to connect directly to the battery (positive) - If you do it this way, you must connect an in-line fuse to give it current (I recommend a 30AMP fuse).
Q: I have a 93 del sol and i startd to notice that my fuse was blowing alot to my radio.because im not a mechanic i had no idea what was wrong so i just kept replacing the fuse. Until recently when i smelld and then saw smoke coming outta my speaker hole.So i pulled off the paneling and realized that my wires were getting so hot they were burning all the plastic around them, and now they are all meltd together.my car wont start or anything. No lights are coming on when i turn the keyMy question is.How much do you think it will cost to fix this? And does this sound like the wiring harness is fried to you?How much does 1 usually go for at a junk yard??Thank YOU
The cost to replace the wiring harness will more than likely exceed the value of this car. Sorry. You may find one at a salvage yard. However it will require lots of labor to replace. The going rate for a mechanic is about $100 per hour. I would expect this to take up to 30 hours to replace. This is because of the dis-assembly and reassembly required to remove and install a new wiring harness. The mechanic may get by for less if he can only replace the damaged section of the wiring harness. However it sounds like the damage is extensive. Also, who knows what electronic components were damaged when the wiring harness burned. You may also be looking at replacing the engine management computer, radio, heater / AC controls, etc.
Q: Ihave a 2001 dodge ram and I am installing a new front bumper but when I took the bumper off I noticed that underneath the passenger headlight there is a random wiring harness that isn't connected to anything.I was wondering if anyone knew what it is or what it is supposed to be wired to
Could be a multi-use harness that allows it to be used on different models with different options.
Q: I need a new wiring harness for my rx7 and idk if this one will work?
no, the computers in those 2 cars are different. the are 2 diff. generations of rx7s. in order to use a wireing harness for a diff generation car/motor the car must have the motor/ecu to match the wireing harness. hope this helps.
Q: I want to know if thr wiring harness is messed up can i just buy a new wiring harness for the alternator? I don't kno what to do cause it won't pass smog. I need an honest answer from an electrical specialist. The mecanic the wires were cut off and modified. Can somebody please help me.
if it,s the alternator wiring your concerned about then you can get the original harness from the junk yard and change it.
Q: I have a Sony CDX-71W Radio, I'm have trouble with the back speaker in my car, its not blown, its just not getting power to the speaker. I need to know what colored wire in the back of the radio gives power to the back right speaker, if your looking at the car from the rear of the car. I tested it with a multimeter and I'm not getting any readings at all. Anyone know where I can find a diagram for free on what each wire does, or know what each colored wires do what?
yeah
Q: I am thinking that I do not need a wiring harness for my Alpine CDA-9884 to go into my 05 Colorado. I have both of the wiring diagrams so I know what all the wires do for what. Can't I just solder the matching wires together and bypass the clip part? Also, I understand that I need a 12v switched power lead so I am going to run the power to a fuse in the fuse box. Anyone know a good fuse to use that runs with switched 12v?Someone please tell me if this is incorrect, but from what I have been reading, it seems as though this is a fine setup. I don't care about losing the door chimes at all.
For the investment of $15-20, you'd be making a big mistake not using an aftermarket harness. For one, if you ever do decide to change radios, you have to do it all over again. Secondly, if you ever decide to sell the automobile, you'd have to sell it with the Alpine, or solder the original harness back in. In which case, the new buyer won't think highly of what you had done. Direct splicing is one of those things that car audio people consider to be a jack-leg move.
Q: i have no wiring harness, but i have a kenwood one that fits, but the wires are in the wrong places. im pretty sure if it knew where each wire is on the original harness i could just rewire the kenwood harness. but i cant find a pic
A wiring harness should be provided with the hu itself, as well as you having to purchase a separate harness adapter yourself (based on the particular year/make/model of your car). Do not mix-match components when dealing with adapter/harness/voice-coil/etc. products. It's not the same as dealing with subs, amps, and products of that sort.
