Q:Hello, I am putting an HHO generator, which is metal plates in water in pvc pipe, into my small pickup truck. I am having a bit of trouble finding an EFIE unit though, which is the boy that goes in line in front of the 02 sensor, to give it a bit more juice and stop it from dumping more gas in when it thinks there is not enough air (but way too much HHO) in the system. Are there any automotive forums that you all would direct me to? And if not, are there any manufacturers of finished EFIE units, or even kits to build them, on the internet or elsewhere for me to utilize?I want to get this done before I leave for college. Gas prices suck!
Be very about a leak as it is very dangerous. H will leak through most hoses. U should also a back fire pot to prevent a back fire from fireing into your tank.
Q:i understand that diesel engines are used in heavy duty vehicles and gasolines are usually used in cars.why are diesel engines preferred for heavy duty? and who are some cars using diesel engine, like some VW models that use clean diesel.i know the engine works a bit different between diesel and gasoline but as for performance, why is one preferred over the other for heavy duty and regular cars?
a diesel engine develops so much more torque compared to a spark ignition engine. given that the typical engine has a compression ratio of about 12:1 MAX and a diesel is roughly 18 to 22:1, when you ignite the air fuel charge by any means that compressed gas is what does every thing, in a spark ignition engine that air charge expands to 4 times its volume. i do not have a diesels ratio but there can not be much of a difference. that 12 to 1 now be comes 48 to one in a very small area forcing that piston to move. in the diesel with a 20 to one compression ratio, now 80 to one putting an immense force on the face of that piston. so muck torque is developed. i have no info on the clean diesels, so i will stop, but diesels are known for the smoke in the exhaust whick is particulate matter in the air that will settle out.
Q:1. are backup generators constantly running, so when the lights go out to the people inside it seems like they have not?2. what do they run off?
Back up generators are kept as stand bye.In hospitals and other important places they take start immediately when voltage drops in the main. They Run with petrol or diesel oil or other fuels/
Q:If the electrical grid fails and takes years to re-establish, how will the plants cool down?
Homemade okorder
Q:I live what i consider near a nuclear generating station in NJ.The site is Toms River Nuclear Generating Station, how would a melt down effect Rahway,NJ or the surrounding areas in general? How wide would the radius be? Or how much damage would be expected? Not stupid answers and no, You don't live in the ring of fire b.s. so don't worry about a tidal wave. Im questioning the unknown and the unexpected.
The answer depends entirely on the kind of accident or incident. It is not possible to predict without the hypothetical accident type, since not all accidents result in a core meltdown, and there are different ways for the core to end up in melt down situation. The danger zone also depends a great deal on the wind and weather conditions at the time and immediately afterwards. Obviously, if the wind is blowing from your location toward the plant, then there is less likelihood that you will be contaminated.
Q:I could see how it could benefit certian classes of commercial trucks, heavy equitment;ect!but what about passanger cars though?
The same purpose of having a hybrid gasoline car. Bragging rights, feeling good, being green, and helping to solve a non-existent problem with so called green house gasses.
Q:I am looking into using solar energy and generators for commercial use. Using the solar energy during the day is a piece of cake obviously. But I would need a backup generator for night-time use. If I were to get a commercial grade backup generator, could I essentially recharge it during the day while it is not in use? Any other suggestions that this route are welcome. Maybe even a backup storage (battery) for the the excess solar energy. Something to store the unused energy?
if you are using a classical gas or diesel powered generator there would be no need for recharging obviously if you are using a bank of batteries and a inverter to convert the DC voltage to AC, then you would need to size your solar power system large enough to both run your home and charge up the batteries so enough power would be stored for night time use and seasonal adjustments.
Q:Does anyone currently live off grid?If so, what type of alternate power system(s) are you using?Solar? ---(I think very expensive and in this part of the country, not enough sun.)Hydro-electric? ---(may be a viable choice if I have enough current running through my stream and or enough head from a waterfall)Wind? --- (If It is installed high enough and does not obscure.)Diesel Generator---(may be ok if underground, low speed, water cooled)We are planning to build a log home in up-state Pa. as a second home for now, but our primary residence in a few years. Thanks in advance for your answers!Newt
i don't know about your possibilities where you are but i would definitely suggest using as much natural lighting as possible and the alternate wood heating furnaces available
Q:I am leaving a career as an aviation electrician after 23 years and have applied for a job as a diesel locomotive electrician with Union Pacific. I was notified about a skills test and was hoping to brush up a bit before the test. Which areas should I focus on studying? Also what can I expect on a day to day basis working in this field? And lastly, although I can troubleshoot and wire a jumbo liner in my sleep I don't have specific experience with large generators and motors. How will this affect me in the hiring process. Thanks in advance for any help.
Locomotive Electrician
Q:can they be quiet? I was thinking about buying one sense we seem to have an outage every winter. Just wouldn't want to have an extremely loud generator running disturbing the neighbors
It depends on the model you buy and typically the more expensive models will equip themselves with a better muffler. (Basically each model will describe their decibel rating). I find most generators will provide about as much noise as a lawn mower. So, it is great to run during the day, but you might consider not running them during the night. I also think a diesel motor is just fine to run as a generator- I find the diesel rigs will run at lower RPMS, and last longer. If you are pluging this thing into your home, dont forget to have a professionally installed transfer switch to avoid electricuting the lineman, otherwise you will need to run extension cords to what you want powered.
