Q: I need these values for 400 KVa and 150 KVa plants in order to run an air pollution computer simulation. Thanks!. Volumetric flow is not useful for me,because i don't have any information about flow areas or diameters.: This is a difficult question to answer accurately. The velocity of the exhaust gas is highly dependent on the size of the exhaust pipe. A smaller exhaust pipe, a much higher velocity --- a larger exhaust pipe, a much slower exhaust gas velocity. A 2 exhaust pipe would have about 2.25 times the velocity of a 3 pipe. The exhaust velocity is highly dependent as well on the RPM of the generator. Double the RPM, and there is much higher pressure, and much higher exhaust gas velocity. An attached article mentions that the exhaust velocity in some unspecified gasoline powered car --- and at some unspecified RPM --- is about 240 to 260 feet per second. autolounge /tech/exhaust.html

Q: Does any one have any experience with Kipor Diesel Generators?I know the price is really good. But are they reliable? Or will i shoot myself for buying another Chinese product?I'm looking at model KDE16STA: Dont buy anything Chinese. They are not interested in customer satisfaction or quality and just want to shift as much product as possible. The materials are usually sub-standard and the build quality is total rubbish! I guess it depends what you want it for? If it is a one off use and then you are prepared to throw it away then maybe consider it but otherwise spend even double the amount and get some equipment that can be serviced and that has a customer service and back up plan. It will be more value in the long run. It is also more patriotic.

Q: I could see how it could benefit certian classes of commercial trucks,heavy equitment;ect!but what about passanger cars though?: it can be ran on bio diesel and with electric thats one hell of a clean running car

Q: I have diesel generator and when I loaded it up to 400 KW trip due to low ferquncy in which its total load 905 KW after I check up , I think that because fuel is not increase to feed injuction pump so that I want to know how actuator working ?: By the revolutions of the generator, or the (presuming AC output) frequency of the power generated. If the frequency is low, the revolutions are low. If the revolutions drop off when load is added, or frequency falls, you have a problem. somewhere.

Q: I was thinking about buying used car batteries from the junk yard and connecting them with jumper cables then testing the connected batteries with a battery tester to see how many volts it has. I havent tried this yet so I dont know if it will work do you guys have any idea on how to make a generator so I wont have to pay for power: You could try to build a machine that uses the turning of something to power your house. The motion could either come from a bicycle that can be pedalled or a wind turbine. You would have to buy a large motor. Attach one end of the motor to a diode, and the other end to a battery, or your house. Attach the other end of the diode to the other terminal of the battery, or your house. Use either a fan blade or a bicycle to turn the pole in the motor. This will generate electricity. Assuming that you are a good cyclist, you could generate about 100w. An energy saving lightbulb is 11w so you would have to pedal hard to keep the house powered up. Buying old batteries probably costs more than the electricity from the mains. If you do buy solar panels and wind turbines, you can sell any excess energy back into the national grid, as well as powering your house.

Q: Having a basic background in electric and family moving into a remote prefab home with no electric, water, or gas, I decided to help. House and work shed electric requirements are simple, totaling a possible 5kwh at a given time to the shed, and 7kwh to the home. Obviously the home will have constant electric requirements (fridge, fans, etc). I cannot imagine it is economical nor efficient to run a diesel generator 24/7 for energy production as needed. Should I go with the conventional wisdom of choosing a generator that operates at 80% capacity for 1005 of my needs. IE: I need exactly 12kw maximum, so a ~14kwh generator.3. Solar panels have storage batteries. Can I use 12v or 18v, or an industry specific battery to only operate the generator for several hours a day for storgae of power? I know this is incredibly inefficient, any alternatives?Any help is greatly appreciated. Just need to be pointed in the right direction.: I think a stand alone gennie would be ok

In the last 15 years or so the engine/generator controllers came with some of the things you seek. It really depends on the manufacture, (onan, kohler, generac,cat etc.) If your generator control panel is of a digital display you MAY have the capability. If it has dials and guages you probably do not. It can be retro-fit with new generation controllers that will give you what you seek. It would be expensive though,

Q: I have bought an ex hire Pike trafic signal trailer which contains a diesel generator. it looks very similar to this (: It's difficult to guess at exact ratings based solely on a picture. Check the generator housing for its specification plate. You can sometimes ballpark a rating based on the engine size. For each horsepower the system should be capable of producing approximately 500 watts. A 8HP engine is usually connected to a 4000 watt generator, 10HP for 5000W, 14HP for 7000W, etc. Many generators have two coils to supply AC output. For 120VAC output only the two coils are placed in parallel. For 120/240VAC the coils are wired in series and mid connection becomes the neutral. If the generator is presently capable of supplying 1kW, changing the output to supply 240VAC will still supply a maximum of 1kW. The maximum each output coil will supply at 120VAC is 500W. You need to separate the two output coils and wire them in series. Install a proper 240VAC outlet on the generator. The circuit breaker should be reduced to half of its present current rating. Q: I know that when a coil is moved between magnets, it produces electricity. how does a generator work without magnets ?one more thing I want to know, what makes the generator turn on when the light go out ?: Doesn't. Rotor (w/ magnets) spins in a stator (coil). When power transfer switch detects a loss of line power, isolates line feed (to prevent linemen from getting zapped), lines up load feed (to house or wherever) and trips starter circuit to gen-set. Or, you go out to shed,shut off your main, plug in your auxiliary cord, and pull-start the SOB.

Q: I want to build an electric generator from an electric motor, how do I do this?I need planes on how to build a generator from an electric motor. I am wanted to use a 16 HP Power Diesel tractor motor. Can any one help? I am useing Diesel power because diesel fuel last longer than gas when in storage. Is this correct?I want a AC Generator.: With a permanent magnet DC motor (like from a battery powered toy) this will work fine. An AC motor is less likely to work, in normal operation the magnetic field that makes an AC motor work is produced by the electricity going into it, so if no power is going into it there is no magnetic filed to make it act as a generator, actually there might be a little stray magnetism or there are methods of getting it started with a pulse of external power, but the PM DC motor will be easiest . In short,yes you can use a motor for a generator but not just any motor
